Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!



The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.



Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Destruction

Whether you return early because of boredom, never left because you're uninterested, or late because you've been having fun, the middle of the night will bring an interesting sight to all. The Heavens will find themselves under attack - in the form of a large fire set at the temple of Amaterasu herself. The entire home is going up in flames and no one knows where Amaterasu is. They're asking for help in dousing the fire or even entering the burning home to find the small goddess and possibly look for the saboteurs, though the only people who are still around are Amaterasu's shinki, in varying states of distress and consciousness.

Note: Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

Whoa, hey!

[ Yata had been drawn to the burning temple by the sight of the flames and all the racket coming from the rescue attempts. he didn't really know what was going on, other than this was probably really bad, but it's the sight of one of the people helping the rescued shinki tottering and nearly toppling over that has him surging into action without really thinking about it. ]

Take it easy. Are you hurt?

[ Hands latch onto Tatara's arms in an attempt to steady him before he realizes that keeping this guy upright was probably more of a hassle than it was worth. So instead he helps ease him down on the grass instead, expression mildly worried. ]

[ Who’s this, suddenly grasping firmly onto him as though he were a leaf wafting in the breeze, waiting to be blown away? (It’s not a bad metaphor, honestly.) Tatara glances over to see a familiar face, and speaks without forethought. ]

Ah~! Yata, my hero!

[ HOMRA’s most loyal, devoted, passionate Vanguard to the rescue! But... Tatara isn’t particularly in need of any assistance, despite all appearances. As soon as he’s down on the grass properly, he waves a hand in dismissal and shakes his head. ]

Don’t worry about me -- I’ll be alright. There are more inside, they need your help more than I do!

[ Having helped the guy off his feet, Yata might have thought nothing more of the encounter than just that.

Except then the guy looks up at him and smiles like he knows him. And calls him by his name.

Freezing, Yata can only blink owlishly at him for a moment, completely caught off-guard. ]

You... How do you know my name?

aww, but I want him to LIKE Tatara! XD

[ Wait -- Yata’s a shinki, too...?

The news just doesn’t get any brighter, does it? Such a shame. Tatara would have thought Yata would have made a strong and powerful god, too. But, no matter -- he’ll just plan to do the same with HOMRA’s Vanguard that he’s doing with its humble bartender: Start over. Make friends all over again. No sweat, right?

Of course, having stumbled a little already here, he does what a clever person does in this situation: He crafts a useful fib. ]

Ah, so that is your name, then! [ Cue the genial, sheepish smile. ] I heard someone cry it out and had a hunch it belonged to you.

[ He points toward the fire then, still burning wildly, uncontained. ] I think it came from in there! I hope there’s no one you know trapped inside!

[ Not to incite panic, but... he needs to check on that anyway, doesn’t he? ]

[ Yata looks at the temple in confusion for a moment, because he knows for a fact that his god isn't here - or she wasn't before the fire started. And the list of people he knows outside of that is... well, still slim to none really. Although there are a few persistent ones who keep trying. ]

I don't know that many people here. It's not my god. I don't know who else it would be. Are you sure you heard my name? [ Although that feels like a dumb question. I mean, how else would a complete stranger know it? ]

[ He doesn’t know many people here? That’s a shame. He should, with as many HOMRA members as Tatara’s already seen in this place.

...Honestly, it’s starting to make him wonder if the Red Clan was entirely extinguished in the wake of his death.

But those thoughts can wait. ]

Aah... maybe I misheard, then. [ He shrugs half-heartedly. ] But anyway, your name is Yata, right?

If you can brave the fire-- [ spoilers, he knows you can, Yata ] --would you check to see if there’s anyone left inside? [ In case he needs a little persuasion, the blond adds, sweetly: ] ...For me?

I’d do it myself, but... [ He produces a small, feeble little wisp of a flame from one index finger for example; it extinguishes into smoke against Tatara’s wishes. ] I need a minute to rest, and they may not have that long.

THAT GUY IS ALLERGIC TO WORDS

[ He's not really adverse to that suggestion, but what the other guy had just done distracts him from going anywhere at the moment. ]

Eh?! [ Yata jolts in surprise and stares, jabbing a finger at the flame the guy summons at a fingertip. ] You can do that too??

NO, HIS NATIVE LANGUAGE IS ELLIPSES

[ So the power passed down to the Red Clan by King remains, shinki or not. Perfect!

But boy, that's got to be confusing... ]

Sure! Anyone can use fire magic here!

[ "Fire magic" indeed. ]

[ Yata just stares at him because that's totally fake. ]

What? No, they can't! Most people were just as surprised about it as I was!

[heartshutter]

[ ...Welp, there goes that plan. Segue time? ]

So how did you first find out you can use it? [ Smiling widely, he adds-- ] I bet your god was pleased!

[ It was a valiant effort.

Yata sighs and makes a face. ] It was an accident. They were trying to teach us how to cast Borderlines - they're like barriers we can protect our gods with against ayakashi. They're supposed to be really strong and most people picked it up pretty easily. Every time I tried, though, I just made a wall of fire instead. Still can't cast a Borderline, but I've been trying to learn how to control whatever this is instead.

[ Which is why Yata gives the guy an intent look. ] Do you know how to control it?

[heartshutter]

[ At least he can go out saying he tried...?

His smile turns markedly sheepish. ]

Sorry, Yata-chan, but I’m afraid mine is...

[ --with a look of intense focus and severity, Tatara summons another teeny tiny flame to his index and middle fingers: A butterfly -- one that looks more like a moth than is intended to -- sprouts from the tips of those digits and flies only a few inches away before being extinguished on a breeze.

Even from just that, the blond looks positively exhausted. ]

...not nearly that hard to control. See?

[ He twitches a little at the use of Yata-chan, but doesn't comment on it for the moment because he's more interested in the fire that seems almost similar to his own.

And he also doesn't miss how much it seems to take out of the other guy just to summon that much. Which is odd, since everytime Yata tries to channel it, it just sorta goes... everywhere. ]

Yeah but you... you can make it do things. Does it always take a shape for you or is that something you learned to make it do?

[heartshutter]

[ Tatara waves a hand in a sort of flip-flop motion, a bit breathless for just a second. ] It’s a... little of both.

[ He smiles, weakly until he catches his breath, then broader after that part’s over. ]

It’s always come in a small size, but I can make that shape into whatever I want, with enough focus. The size is... [ that smile turns wan ] ...a little harder, but I can manage it.

[ At great cost to himself, most definitely. But that’s not important to mention. He doesn’t want to worry, Yata, after all. ]

What about yours?

[ Is it still just as hot, quick, and overabundant as his temper? Tatara wonders. ]

[ Yata makes a face. ]

Almost the opposite. There's a lot of it, I just don't... know how to make it do anything yet. At least not the way I want it to. I'm still trying to figure out how it works.

[heartshutter]

[ Why is there such a warm and knowing smile on Tatara's face at that answer? Yata might never know.

Regardless, it only takes a beat before the blond sighs, dusting himself of unconsciously. ]

I might not be the best to teach you. [ That said, he perks visibly thereafter. ] But I know someone who can~!

[thevanguard]

[ Yata blinks before leaning forward in anticipation. ]

Really? You do? Are they here? Who is it??

[ ...He might be a little excited right now. ]
