014 | A Whole New World

Who: Everyone!
What: Exploring the world
When: All day June 26
Where: The Near Shore (All Over)
Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!

The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.

Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Destruction

Whether you return early because of boredom, never left because you're uninterested, or late because you've been having fun, the middle of the night will bring an interesting sight to all. The Heavens will find themselves under attack - in the form of a large fire set at the temple of Amaterasu herself. The entire home is going up in flames and no one knows where Amaterasu is. They're asking for help in dousing the fire or even entering the burning home to find the small goddess and possibly look for the saboteurs, though the only people who are still around are Amaterasu's shinki, in varying states of distress and consciousness.

Note: Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

In Summary:
  • Explore the world
  • Get to know your homelands
  • Investigate insurgents
  • Deal with a riot
  • Save Amaterasu
  • Have fun~

[Though the meeting hall is full of gods and shinki alike, one new god stands head and shoulders above the rest as she picks her way carefully through the crowd.]

[Because she's a pony. She's tall. Head and shoulders -- taller than -- it's a play on words, you see, because -- ]

[Anyway.]

[Celestia walks through the meeting hall with the utmost care, her wings half-spread in a display posture, and her smile utterly serene and calm. The keen-eyed might spot the fierce curiosity and excitement that blazes in her own glances around, if they aren't distracted by the sack lunch floating at her side in the middle of a golden glow.]

Excuse me, I am looking for a group going to -- ah, 'South Amareica?' [The slight mispronunciation is evident if you're really listening for it. Or have a mind for puns.]

[Alright, trip to see Greece? Scully said something about Ionia in Greece before. So it sounds like an interesting trip. Additionally, he's looking around for... Gojyo. Red hair- shouldn't be that hard to find that in a place like this.]

Hey, you.

Flyers

[Seriously? He hasn't met Amaterasu before, and the Heaven's don't seem that bad. He'll pull down a poster and turn to whoever's near enough]

Hey, you ever see something like this before?

[Leo was begged by Sora to wait here, so wait here he shall.

By the sign that says "Norse".

Because Sora is a loser child that Leo somehow grew fond of and will humor for silly things like this. He is totally reading something on his phone while he waits for whoever to get here so they can go.]

Locals

[So this was unexpected. Leo knew that Odin was the ruling god of this particular pantheon, but this was just something else entirely.

There were gift baskets for him (and the others, he thinks) at a temple in a place called Iceland. Gift baskets with all sorts of books, and eyepatches (because apparently that was a thing Odin used, Leo just plans to give them to Niles) and birdseed for some reason and a bridle and, strangely enough, two stuffed raven toys.

And maps. Because one of the local gods realized Leo wouldn't know the way to any places of interest and so provided him with maps. The liquor stores and bookshops are marked in bright red. Gods bless whichever god that was.

There was only one small problem:]

How are we getting this all home...

Destruction

[This isn't surprising, sadly. The moment he saw those flyers as they traveled around, visiting shrines, he knew there was going to be a problem when they got home. He just wishes it hadn't been this.

Leo is one of the people who does attempt to go in and find the young goddess--she reminded him of Elise or Corrin when they were younger--but he can't get very far before the smoke gets to him and he winds up helping to douse the flames instead.]

[Meeting Hall]

[Chrome holds one of the packed lunches in her hands, looking a little dubious. This all seems a little... Well, weird, okay? It's weird. Apparently the lunches were made to match their destinations--or maybe she just got lucky--because when she opens the lunch there are foods cut into various shapes one might pick up as being from Egyptian mythology--like an ankh, for example.

The box itself looks golden in color with red and blue and painted with depictions of Nephthys on the side, which should also be an indicator of where she's supposed to be going today. However, she tucks it under her arm and looks around with her good eye before approaching someone to start asking questions
]

Excuse me? Is there a group going to Greece today? [She sort of. Tries to tuck the lunch behind her a little more. Pay no mind to her obviously not-greek god designation.]

[Locals -- Egypt Part A]

[Alright so she does, eventually, go to Egypt to see it. It's interesting, she's intrigued, and she instantly regrets it. It's not like the gods aren't friendly-- the problem is that they are friendly. She'd be a lot more comfortable if they'd been aggressive or hateful; other gods who arrived at the same time as her might have noticed that within minutes of a pair (Nut and Geb) speaking with a cheerful, animated air, (and informing Chrome that they're the parents of Nephthys), Chrome's face turns redder and redder in embarrassment. Finally she stammers a quick "e-excuse me!" turns tail, and...flees. Just straight up runs away.

Maybe you take after her on her own, or maybe Nut and Geb recruit you to find their 'daughter' and calm her down??
]

[Locals -- Egypt Part B]

[When a stern looking Egyptian god approaches, you would be forgiven in thinking he's about to scold you for something. Instead he very earnestly asks if you've seen his sister-wife. Nephthys, you see, has come back, and he'd like to speak with her more, but she's fled the meeting. Perhaps he'd come on too strongly?? Who knows. Not him! He describes her as being cute, with purpleish hair and eyes-- Well, one eye. The other is covered by an eyepatch, you see. Not that it makes her any less cute, who would say such a thing?

(He squints, a bit suspiciously at your character, as if daring you to try and say otherwise)

He then bids your character farewell and asks that they please be in touch with him if they find her.

Within seconds of him disappearing, a soft voice speaks from literally nowhere:
] Is he gone?

[The illusion drops away, revealing that Chrome's been standing near-by the entire time, just using her illusions to make herself invisible. She sighs a sigh of the much put upon and looks rather weary. Save her.]

[Locals -- Greece]

[She's wearing a dress and jewelry that clearly mark her as Not Of The Greek Pantheon, and yet here she is. Although she's pretty skilled at hiding herself, she's not bothering too much this time, because she intends for this be a quick stop.

She's just peering around a corner, trying to get a good sight on Hestia/Axel, Chikusa and/or Ken; she just wants to make sure they're all doing okay!! Of course, anyone else is welcome to find her poking her nose around looking for them and try to figure out wtf she's doing

[Meeting Hall]

[DID SOMEONE SAY FOOD? Because Oona has taken like...four of these packed lunches. She's got on in each hand and on balanced on her head and one held carefully in her teeth while she attempts to kick off some golden, laced-up sandals.

Someone else clearly dressed her (probably one of Amaterasu's shinki because let's be honest, Oona probably showed up in little more than a shirt and that was all. Why were gods and goddesses and shinki just as pick about stuid things like clothes as normal humans were this is so unfair--)

Anyway. She's wearing a simple chiton belted at the waist, the hem falling to a little above her knees. That she doesn't mind so much, but the sandals are aggravating. She's also clearly reluctant to put down her stolen food to help her situation, since she just keeps kicking her leg and trying to use one foot to tug of the other, but it's... it's clearly not working.

The effort also seems to be putting her through some serious pain, if the expression of pain mixed with aggravation on her face is anything to go by.

Help?? Or maybe just try and take back one of the lunches she stole.
]

[Locals -- All Around the World]

[Through out the various cities, catfights have ensured in various public areas, all over some pretty golden apples that declare themselves only for "the most beautiful one."

In one such area--a park--the culprit behind it all can be found: Oona.

She places a golden apple on a bench and walks off laughing brightly
] Ahh, so stupid! Humans are so stupid! Have not had this much fun in so long!

[Stop Her.]

[Locals -- Mt. Olympus]

[Oona's been enjoying herself, listening to the other gods and goddesses (goodness Greece sure did have a lot, huh??), and in particular playing with the various naiads and oceanids. She gleefully spends hours with them, but after a while she grows to look more and more uncomfortable and upset, before finally seeming to just explode over an innocuous comment. She snaps and storms off, leaving a wake of upset naiads in her wake.

Considering how happily she'd been with them only moments before, it seems a little weird, right?? Oona can be found raging in some lone part of the Mt. Olympus halls, having a nice temper tantrum. There's no words, really--the noises she makes sound more like music, but give the impression of profanity despite how pretty it all sounds.

She finally seems to calm herself down though, flopping onto the ground and curling up on her side with a huff, the anger flowing away from her to be replaced with quiet sniffling--there are no tears, however (though, curiously, there seem to be various sizes of pearls scattered all through out the hallway...)
]

...Want to go home. [She grumbles to herself, irritated] Place is stupid. [She flicks a few pearls away and then drapes an arm over her eyes, sighing deeply.]

Flyers

[Izumo has seen these flyers before so it immediately earn his attention.

Despite conversing with some of the local gods (while making sure his own god doesn’t accidentally get locked in a pyramid somewhere), his attention was caught by these. It’s a bit of a flashback to the picnic, so as he grabs a flyer, he looks at it.]

“Down with Amaterasu” again, huh? [It’s a quiet muse before a flicker of red appears and he burns the flyer.]

What a mess.

Destruction

[Amaterasu’s temple is being burned.

The sight of it isn’t as shocking enough as it should be, but Izumo doesn’t hesitate to go in and try to find the young goddess.

His Aura immediately forms a shield around him to block out the flames within the temple. Flames aren’t a threat to him, but he still wouldn’t like to get caught in it any longer than he’d want to.]

Locals - Aztec Temples

[Anyone who wanders near the Aztec temples will definitely find one of these standing proudly.

Johan himself is standing at the steps, hand rubbing the back of his head as he stared up at it.]

Woah, so that’s an Aztec temple, huh?

Destruction

[Johan definitely hasn’t been around long enough, but he’s seen those flyers around.

He’s seen it and while he’s confused, it doesn’t do much to stop him from trying his best to help out. A temple is on fire, Amaterasu’s he’s guessing, so he definitely will try to join in.

Johan goes to help one of those shanks as they stir, gently placing them somewhere more stable and checking their pulse. He doesn’t care if they’re already dead - they’re still people.

Once he’s satisfied with that, he’ll run into the temple.

Either join him or stop him.]

A. Meeting hall

[ Elfnein has one of the packed lunches in her hand and is a little confused about the food just being handed out. Plus all the people gathering here that she doesn’t know is a little bit too much. ]

Excuse me, I’m somewhat lost on where to go.

B. Flyers

[ "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." That doesn’t sound good at all. From her own knowledge of gods Elfnein knows that Amaterasu isn’t the type of god to mess with even if she hasn’t been here long to see the other type of gods. Whoever is doing this is just wasting paper and trying to stir trouble. ]

meeting hall.
[ mei's not necessarily looking for anyone to go with him on his trip to his fabulous and wonderful satellite temple (he assumes anyway), but he does occasionally have about a pinch of common courtesy, even if he's much like a child on their first trip on the shinkansen. after all, when he plays professionally when he returns home, he'll get to travel a lot, but he's never been to america before. or central america, whatever that is. he's not great at geography. carlos would be proud!

whatever it is, he does pick up one of those packed lunches and hoists himself right up on a table, sitting and kicking his feet. either of his shinki should be arriving shortly, and mei absently looks over to one of the signs on the table by the lunch before flipping it over and scribbling something on it with a nearby pen.

in boyish handwriting, he puts "CENTRAL AMERICA" in english capitals, and writes it out underneath in katakana. if nothing else, he should meet the rest of the people in his group.

none of them are as important as him, probably, so ♥ ]

locals (mexico)
[ mexico city is awesome. the place is colorful and bright with spirits and humans alike, and even just walking around the city is giving mei some kind of a weird energy boost. traveling has actually been pretty fun so far, even though the sun is beating down on his back; the ability of instantaneous transportation makes it a lot easier for even a whiner like mei to visit the ruins of the templo mayor, which is where his own shrine now sits, invisible to the tourists.

and it is awesome. it's giant and golden and exactly what mei's looking for, and he literally just stands there for a minute looking delighted with everything in his surroundings as he cranes his head up to look up the long set of stairs.

unfortunately, there are a long set of stairs. mei looks at them briefly and turns his head to one of his shinki (it's probably kazuya.) ]
Isn't this the part where you carry me up the stairs on one of those chair lounge things? I'll wait.

[ he'd probably be tougher if he didn't have the pink bloom of a sunburn on his cheeks...someone should've worn his ballcap. ]

locals, pt ii.
[ though the lake is mostly gone, there are still plenty of other things to do in mexico. there's a colorful market bursting with people (a tiangui, not that mei's even close to saying a word in spanish) that he pokes into to look at some of the wares being offered by humans, if only to bring something back to put in his own shrine back at home.

it'd be a cute, innocuous activity except for one thing: the hummingbirds.

it started with just one, a green thing that flitted near his face and disappeared, but as the afternoon goes on, more and more hummingbirds are finding themselves attracted to the god. they're mostly zipping around him and his party of people, and mei barely notices them, waving them off when they get too close to his face but mostly ignoring them.

they start to whistle through people's things, darting around--humans coo and gasp at the sheer influx of the birds, and when someone finally gets mei's attention about it, he turns around...and there's a green one nestled in his baby bird's nest of blonde hair. ]
What?

locals pt iii.
[ it's a weird and inexplicable draw to do so, so late at night when mei's greeted the other gods floating around and canoodled with a few spirits, he settles down outside of his temple and spreads out a big blanket someone had graciously left out for him inside the temple just outside of it, resting on the stone surface. it's not the most comfortable place for a lie down, but he can't ignore the draw in his gut, like he's supposed to be chasing something.

it's the feeling he gets when he's running, when he's practicing. it's the same exact feeling he gets when he's on the mound, reaching out for the victory he's earned with his left hand. of course he can't ignore it.

one of the spirits milling around asked him about his sister. mei had answered about his sisters back home--two of them, who he misses--but the spirit had shaken her head and moved on. maybe they're all related: maybe he should have read up on his god more.

either way, he's finally quiet as he settles down on the blanket, resting his arms on his knees and his chin on top of those, and stares up at the stars.

the city light has dimmed them some, but they're still there. ]

[A: Meeting Hall (Heavens)]

[Shun isn't exactly the kind of person who's fond of big group excursions to things, so when he feels the ripple of the new shrine's appearance, he initially intends to seek it out on his own. It's only the fact that newcomers appear to be around that drags him out to the meeting hall, and even then he's lurking in the corner like he wants to be left alone and get out of here as soon as possible.

He is eying a few people off, though, even if his reaction to having that attention turned back at him is a challenging glare.]

If you're looking for someone to drag along to your shrine, look somewhere else.

--

[B: Locals (Valley of the Kings, Egypt)]

[It doesn't take long for Shun to get to Nekheb, what with how easy it is to travel between shrines. However, the place is several hours of walking from any other landmarks, and apparently the locals saw fit to send someone to meet him and show him where else he could travel to while he's here.

So it is that Shun finds himself guided through the Valley of the Kings by Horus, his current incarnation a rather young man whose falcon-headed headdress also reveals a rather cheerful human face underneath. Their steps are careful, and Shun is content to file through the tombs like the unaware tourists around them, touching nothing and remaining for as little time as possible so as not to damage the ancient works.]

So these are the kind of rites the older incarnation of Nekhbet would have had to deal with. [There's a faint interest to Shun's tone, though he's admittedly just glad that funeral rites are less complicated these days, or he'd be a lot busier.]

--

[C: Flyers (Luxor, Egypt)]

[After the show through the valley, Shun breaks off from the local pantheon to return to Luxor itself after hearing mention of strange people with equally strange flyers. It doesn't take long for him to run across one in the city streets, picking one up from the surface of a quiet road as he crosses it.

The writing and wording is only too familiar given what a short time it's been during the fire, and with a quiet, but angered hiss, Shun scrunches the note in his fist, his decay powers reducing it to nothing but blackened remains within seconds.

As he follows the trail and picks up more of the flyers, it's possible to run across him, as he'll be travelling quite far through the city. Any Far Shore residents Shun runs into will get an impatient wave of a flyer before Shun decays it, letting it tear itself apart on the breeze.]

There's still more of these. Have you seen them where you've come from as well?

--

[D: Destruction (Heavens)]

[All things considered, Shun gets back relatively early. Learning about his pantheon and his god's history is all well and good, and it's been a productive day on that front, but there's only so long he can stay out effectively sightseeing.

As such, during the evening, he's on a normal patrol, and just getting close to the main area of the Heavens when he hears the unmistakable sound of a fire flaring into existence. Pulling his scarf up over his face and reaching into his coat for something to put over his eyes - they almost look like sunglasses, but with enclosed lenses like goggles would have - he heads for the source of the noise, coming to a stop as he reaches Amaterasu's burning temple.

It's only a brief pause, though. A second later, he picks up speed again and charges into the burning building.]

(a.)

[With Amaterasu herself not in sight, the first thing Shun encounters alive in the temple are her shinki. Some of them seem in good enough condition to escape alone, but several are unconscious, and Shun isn't particularly fond of the idea of leaving them amidst the flames. So, leaning down, he pulls one of the unconscious ones up by the arm and starts to carry them out.

If he encounters anyone on the way out, he'll nod back towards the other unconscious or incapacitated ones.]

Start getting them out, or they're going to die here.

(b.)

[After helping out the shinki, Shun's body is already protesting the heat, his lungs starting to ache even with the increased resilience of his position. But he's not planning to leave without at least finding Amaterasu among all this - even as he kicks down a door only to find an impassable wall of flame behind it.

Hissing through his teeth, he adjusts his scarf to make sure it's still covering his mouth and nose as he looks around through the smoke for other paths.]

There has to be another way through...

[The flames doesn't bother Izumo as much as the next person, but he also can't quite ignore anyone in need anymore.

So when he sees Shun, he spreads out his aura enough to at least alleviate some of the heat, giving him a little more air to breathe. He can't quite control the flames here aside from his own, but it's the very least he can do.]

[A: Meeting Hall (Heavens)]

[The idea of going with others to look at their new shrines honestly sounds rather fun and informative to Maria, so she mingles through the Meeting Hall when everyone is gathered there with a ready smile. Her pantheon is rather small, as far as her knowledge, so she'll be approaching anyone else who seems like they might be looking for someone to venture out with, offering a slight grin and wave of the hand in greeting.]

Hello. Are you looking for others to come along with you on the journey?

--

[B: Locals (Hill of Tara, Ireland)]

[The new shrine to Nuada Airgetlám turns out to be near the Hill of Tara, built in a small clearing between trees in the forests near the monument. It's only a matter of time before Maria leaves to look at the rest of the area, keeping a respectful distance from the standing stone at the hill's peak as she crosses over the top to get a good view of what else she might have to look at here.

After a moment, though, she feels eyes on her, and something twining itself around her legs. Looking down, there seems to be nothing there - but all of a sudden, instead, there's a cat watching her from across the hilltop. There's an intelligence to its eyes that says it's no ordinary feline, and Maria faintly recalls reading about something like this. She wasn't sure cat sìth were that strong a part of her mythology, but she appears to have run into one nonetheless.

Not entirely sure how to handle it, Maria bows slightly in the cat's direction and smiles a little.]

Sorry for the intrustion. I hope you'll have me.

[To passerby, though, it probably just looks like she's talking to a cat.]

--

[C: Destruction (Heavens)]

[Maria gets back a bit late - the area around the Hill of Tara really had been rather interesting, and it seemed like she'd found something else to look at every time she thought she'd exhausted the monuments in the area. As she comes back to her temple, she takes a brief break on the top floors that look out beyond the top of the cave and over the rest of the Heavens, drinking a little water before she intends to have dinner.

However, the plume of fire that rises from the deeper Heavens is visible even from a distance, and Maria immediately sets her glass down and teleports nearer to the source. She ends up somewhere in the area of the meeting hall again rather than where she'd been aiming, but it's not too far to run towards the now much closer fire.

A look of horror dawns on her face as she gets close enough to realise what it is that's happened, and she turns her attention quickly to some of the more distressed-looking shinki lingering outside. She doesn't think she could maintain her Symphogear long enough to make entering the fire safe, and she might end up being a casualty herself if she pushes it.

So instead, she bends down to the troubled shinki, offering a hand to them. Not that she knows it fully yet, but the contact may well help them in recovering a bit.]
Are you okay? [Looking around her for others staying outside, she waves a hand to get their attention.] Have you seen anyone but the shinki come out yet - or go in, for that matter?

[ The birds are... hilarious, in the end. Miyuki's figured out that it's Mei that's attracting them to him, not that it's very difficult, considering they're everywhere he is, but it gets to a point where he literally cannot be this oblivious. How is it actually physically possible?

But when Mei turns to him...

His eyes flick up from Mei's pinkened face, to the tiny little bird nestled in his hair. It flits its wings, but otherwise doesn't seem intent on moving. So Miyuki reaches out to carefully scoop it up, fingers combing through Mei's soft hair, and puts it in one of Mei's hands since it seems so intent to stay perched on the god.

And then he takes his snapback off, where he'd had it backwards on his head originally. Without missing a beat, he calmly puts it on Mei's head.

Meeting Hall
[ To say being pulled to another world without warning was confusing and disorienting would be the understatement of the century. But to be ushered into this place, bustling and as crowded as it is with gods and shinki alike, only makes it feel all the more overwhelming. She'd been given instructions on her new role here, on the goddess she was here to fulfill the duties of, an explanation - such as it was - and told that she would find her own shinki here, even if the idea of what that meant still made her uncomfortable and uneasy.

So with an indecisiveness that's unusual for her, the young red-haired goddess hovers at the edge of the room, wide eyes searching through the crowd to see if she can feel the pull to this 'shinki' they've told her she's been given and already feeling entirely out of place in this very foreign new world. ]

Locals; Ireland
[ None of the countries in this world are familiar to her, but the goddess she is here to represent strikes a chord with some others she encountered in the Meeting Hall and she is directed here, to Ireland, which is said to be the homeland of her goddess, Áine. The shrine that calls to her is set atop a tall hill, ringed with high stone arches already covered with creeping ivy. A single rock is set at its center, rising narrow and jutting high towards the sun overhead. Flat stones from a nearby river are set into the grass to make a walkway. Or, perhaps, a fairy circle.

It is overwhelmingly vibrantly green and for a moment Yona can only stop at the entrance and stare in wonder at the natural beauty of the place and how much it calls to her. She has no idea who might have created this special place but upon stepping inside the stone circle, for the first time since arriving here, she feels some of her anxiety and fear fade away in the bright warmth of the sun and the peace of this place.

Except it doesn't take her long to realize that she isn't alone, the sense of being watched drawing her gaze up to search for the source, keenly aware of the feel of eyes on her even if she can't pinpoint where it's coming from. or, for that matter, if it's a friendly visitor or an unfriendly one... ]

Destruction
[ Yona returns to the Far Shore after a long day full of strange new discoveries, only to find the place she left in chaos and one of the large temples engulfed in flames. It has her stopping short in horror for a moment before she bursts into action to help, whether it be aiding in putting out the fire where she can or pushing into the temple in search of anyone who might still be trapped inside, calling out to anyone inside who can hear her, no matter the risk. It might not be the wisest course of action, but she can't just stand by while people might be trapped inside. being a goddess might be new to her, but saving those in need of her help? That is something she won't hesitate to act on again. ]

Do you suppose they have a delivery service?

[He swore one of the local gods was trying to give him an axe but it seemed to be the last thing on his mind. Weird. But books and alcohol? Sold.]

I would hope so. This is....quite a lot of stuff and most of it I did not expect.

[ A red aura engulfs the Red King as he stands amid the fire with little care for the temple burning to the ground. He's here for one reason and one reason alone - his shinki. ]

Silently, he flicks a metal object at the man, encasing it in his aura to protect it from the greedy flames threatening to take down the whole structure. ]

[A: Meeting Hall (Heavens)]

[Though he's not a god himself, Davesprite figures he's probably obliged into the Egypt field trip here by virtue of being Neith's shinki, so he's drifting vaguely around the meeting hall waiting for that to start being a thing. He's definitely not averse to hitting up newcomers, people he knows or anyone who looks kind of lost, though, floating by them rather casually with a wave of the talon.]

You know, sometimes I wonder if the people who run this shit want bragging rights and the unofficial award for most confusing clusterfuck every single time we get new people.

[B: Locals (Giza, Egypt)]

[Even if he'd ever had the chance to be a tourist before this, Davesprite sure doesn't remember it, so he's taking this opportunity to be one for the day. And given he's in Egypt, there's not really any kind of shortage of places to go for that sort of thing.

Ultimately, after some wayward flying, he ends up in the vicinity of Giza, and drawn to the plateau just outside of the city. For a while, floating around between pyramids seems to satisfy him, but it's only a matter of time before he starts getting a bit too tourist.

That meaning he's currently floating a relatively short distance in front of the face of the Great Sphinx, about to take a questionably ironic selfie. Someone might want to call him out before he ends up dropping neon orange feathers on the ancient monument.]

[C: Destruction (Heavens)]

[The chaos of the fire is already in full swing when Davesprite gets back, and though he's not sure how well his form takes fire, he figures now might be a good time to find out. Though he has no idea what Amaterasu looks like - he never got her name when they last met - he glides low through the fires in the temple, ignoring the very faint prickling in his lungs.]

Come on, this isn't the time for hide and fucking seek... [Though he's still trying to sound casual, he's just a little more on-edge than he'd usually be in a situation like this.]

Meeting Hall
[ Nanako arrives at the Meeting Hall bright and early and far too awake and excited for this hour, most likely. She is all but bouncing with energy and anticipation to see the new shrines that have appeared and getting to travel so far away.

Her big brother and their shinki are with her as well, accompanying her today as babysitters chaperones since no one's quite sure what they'll find on this trip. When she arrives, however, she starts looking around for any other gods that might also be heading to the same place she is. She's met Ren already and knows that their goddesses were sisters, but so far she hasn't found any others who were as old or from as far away as this place called Sumer she'd been reading about... ]

Locals; Iraq (aka Sumer)
[ Nanako has never traveled so far away before so arriving in the country of her goddess' origins is almost like coming to another entirely new world altogether. She feels the call of a couple of shrines, which might be a surprise to some, but considering she knows just how much work her goddess had to do, Nanako takes it in stride, intending to visit each one and see what there is to find.

One, dedicated to fair commerce and trade, is set up in a busy, bustling Marketplace with local wares set out on display in dozens of stands for purchase or barter, showing a varied display of items, hidden treasures and local foods. Another is set up beside a large fresh-water Lake with a shrine holding a tall statue of a leaping fish. Pelicans gather beside along the shore, perhaps an odd sight in this area but drawn to the new shrine all the same. And lastly, a small shrine holding the statue of a mother figure surrounded by small children is set up outside a local Orphanage where children play outside, laughing and loud.

Nanako makes sure to take the time to visit each of these, more and more delighted with each one she gets to see and anyone she encounters at them while she explores her new shrines and what they are meant to watch over. it only makes her all the determined to be a good Nanshe and answer the prayers of these people she's meant to protect. ]

Flyers
[ It's in the Marketplace she visits that Nanako first sees the flyers placed up on walls and buildings. Catching sight of the brightly colored papers she goes to investigate. And then sees Ammy's name and the message printed in big bold letters. it makes her gasp in surprise, suddenly upset, her buoyant mood shaken as she reaches up to tug the paper down, not wanting to leave it up to be seen.

She remembers the conversation she'd had with Schuldig about Ammy, and the people that were upset with her, but if this was them, what were they doing here? And around her shrine?? Was Ammy okay? ]

Destruction
[ That concern niggled in the back of her mind the rest of the day, so that when she and her companions at last return to the Far Shore to find Amaterasu's temple in flames, Nanako can only stare in horrified shock for a moment before giving a panicked cry and racing forward, her only thought that of helping the friend she'd made at the beach. ]

    AMMY!!

[Add has seen Leo in passing before, but they've never been properly introduced, nor does Add have any idea what god or who's shinki he is. But since he's hanging around the clearly marked "Norse" sign, that makes it easier to determine he's someone worth bothering with.

He strides over, glancing around briefly to see that no one else has arrived yet. After a pause he greets him with a "friendly"]
So who are you supposed to be?

what a useless shinki

[personal profile] koshien 2017-03-17 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ it's not so much that he's oblivious: mei's world tends to revolve around him 99% of the time. rather, he just figured it was some phenomenon of nature and let it be, mostly because there were a million shiny things he could be looking at in the market instead of a bunch of little birds. the first few had caught his attention, but by this point, he's just ignoring them.

mei's brow crinkles when kazuya reaches up to take the bird out of his hair. the gesture's weirdly intimate, and he's about to ask what the hell are you doing, because it's so not kazuya to touch him like that, but before he gets the chance to reach up and try to smack his hand away, he comes away with the bird.

mei looks at it with wide eyes for a second, and then down at it in his hands. ]
I can't get rid of these things. My hair's not a nest! [ the bird ignores him, naturally, and mei rolls his eyes (at a bird) (why are you like this) and just makes a pouty face at kazuya when he puts the hat on his head. ]

Maybe for once in your life you could laugh at nothing. That'd be nice. [ says mei, who is just as shitty as him, but whatever. he doesn't thank him for the hat, but that'd be weird. ] It's hot out here! It's not like I put my bare face out in the sun that often, even at home! Unlike you, I'm taking good care of my skin.

Locals [GREECE] [Closed to the Freebs]
a. TO THE BEACH [What else is a more fitting vacation spot for Poseidon and a bunch of swimmers? Myrtos beach had brilliant blue waters perfect for a good swim.]
b. FOOD [Anyone up for gyros, grape leaves, and baklava? Honey and olive oil are known aphrodisiacs, so don't eat them around Eros.]
c. OTHER [There's shopping and wearing traditional Grecian clothing befitting of two Greek gods. There's pictures and site seeing.]

Locals [GREECE][OPEN]
[Makoto is just blown away by being in another country so different from his own. This place feels a little like home, but he knew in his mind that Japan was his home. Perhaps he had been melding with his god-form more and more.

Dressed in traditional garb that the other local gods insisted he wear, he wanders down an old stone path. He hears a bleating noise close by but out of sight along with the clattering of small hooves.]

A goat? I wonder if someone lost one.

[He follows the sounds of bleating and hooves, looking for this goat.]

Have you seen a goat nearby?
