014 | A Whole New World

Who: Everyone!
What: Exploring the world
When: All day June 26
Where: The Near Shore (All Over)
Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!

The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.

Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Destruction

Whether you return early because of boredom, never left because you're uninterested, or late because you've been having fun, the middle of the night will bring an interesting sight to all. The Heavens will find themselves under attack - in the form of a large fire set at the temple of Amaterasu herself. The entire home is going up in flames and no one knows where Amaterasu is. They're asking for help in dousing the fire or even entering the burning home to find the small goddess and possibly look for the saboteurs, though the only people who are still around are Amaterasu's shinki, in varying states of distress and consciousness.

Note: Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

In Summary:
  • Explore the world
  • Get to know your homelands
  • Investigate insurgents
  • Deal with a riot
  • Save Amaterasu
  • Have fun~

[That... looks like out of this show that Loki had seen mentioned and referenced on the Internet by mortals. It was on her queue of things to watch so he wasn't 100 percent certain, she might as well be. There were many memes about it a couple of years before so it was hard to keep all characters separated, with only kingdom-of-fan osmosis.

In any case, he didn't bat an eye. He knew plenty of talking sentient animals. Actually, the pun was a bit amusing.]

My apologies, I have just arrived to this place. And my destination is Greece, but I'm in no current hurry so I could assist you in your search as I look for mine.

[Celestia smiles at him, warn and serene as she always is.] I too am newly arrived, and I must admit it's all very unusual and exciting. I'd welcome the company, the more so since I still have a great deal to learn.

Then we're two on the same rhetorical boat! Gods in my universe don't have to... [Listen to humans. Do favors. Work at all.] don't have this kind of system. I for one find it intriguing, my lady. Change is good.
letteropener: (puzzled)

Well... we do not have 'gods' in Equestria, not like this. These roles seem more suited towards ordinary ponykind than they do to some special class that sits above them. But I am told humans do not control the weather, or the seasons, or even the day and night?

[Very, very strange, and something Celestia is struggling to understand despite her calm outside appearance.]

...Not the majority, at least. There are humans in my universe who are called "mutants" and have various alterations in powers and aspect. I've heard of at least one well-respected mutant lady nicknamed Storm who can, in fact, control the weather. She also flies with gusts of wind and no wings. Pretty cool.

I know not if mutants also exist here.
letteropener: (what confidence she can offer)

I should be more clear -- I do not mean, "alter existing patterns of weather" so much as I mean that nopony here is responsible for making the weather happen in the first place. It is much like the Everfree Forest, where these things just happen without any outside interference.

You have someone responsible for the weather? That's quite a difference between universes, my lady! When it comes to gods, some humans tend to believe that things like the trajectory of the sun, thunder or sea storms are produced by a certain deity. It doesn't mean they actually must be responsible, no. Just that mortals choose to explain phenomena that way.
letteropener: (fond smile)

[personal profile] letteropener 2017-03-26 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
And I assure you, we ponies are responsible for all of those things. Though we try to keep the sea storms to a minimum. [A little joke, but really, these humans must have such a poor time of it, dealing with random weather and erratic seasons. It really seems to be a poor way to run things.]

Wait, if you may. What happens if a pony wishes for soft rain to cuddle up indoors with a nice book and hot beverage, but the neighbor needs a sunny day for their activities? Do they have turns? Do they duel? Does a third party decide?
letteropener: (friendly explanation)

[personal profile] letteropener 2017-03-27 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The weather is planned out by the town weatherponies, who coordinate all of these things locally and with the weather factories in Cloudsdale. Of course, a little localized deviation is never too big a deal, for an enterprising pegasus...

Then there is a weather authority and disputes can still arise in lesser degree. Less chaotic than I imagined.

[He seems a bit disappointed by all this order.]
letteropener: (that is how it is)

[personal profile] letteropener 2017-03-30 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Not chaotic at all. We'd be very poor custodians of the world if we let it go to ruin for selfish reasons, after all. Not just ponykind, but all the animals and plants of Equestria as well depend on us.

Although there are places where things like the weather just happen on their own.

You know, you lot might be something akin to gods to the other living beings, if your actions affect the world deeply.

I take a bit of comfort in that. No offense taken, I hope, but I like faulty spots.
letteropener: (a little sly)

[personal profile] letteropener 2017-04-01 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
We are simply ponies... even myself and my sister, for all that we are a little special. Certainly none of us are perfect, I can promise that much. [Especially herself.]
changeanddie: (pic#6775657)

[personal profile] changeanddie 2017-04-03 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, perfection is by no means required for godhood. Gods are as flawed as any other kind of living creature, or even more. Some more than others, just like everybody else.
letteropener: (a little sly)

[personal profile] letteropener 2017-04-03 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It is hard to imagine a perfect being anyway. It must be a very boring existence, to be like that.
