014 | A Whole New World

Who: Everyone!
What: Exploring the world

Where: The Near Shore (All Over)
Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!

The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.

Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

[As he speaks, it occurs to her to wonder how he can be so calm as to not have any questions or need anything because she thought he was new, having never seen him before.]

Actually Deku, can I ask... how long have you been in the Far Shore then? Longer than me, right?

[Rather than assuming things.]

[Kairi's only been here a month, but Izuku feels like he's been here for ages.]

Yeah. I've been here since... about mid-March. I've... been busy with some things lately.

Great! Maybe I can ask you for a totally different favor then!

[Which she is apparently just racking up, but he seems pretty nice and maybe won't mind.]

Mid-March... was that before or after White Day by chance? I got asked to find people to talk to about it.

It was during White Day, actually.

... Are the Heaven's finally looking into that now? [Better late than never, but when it's this late a lot of leads go cold.]

Maybe. It was one of the Messengers who asked me to get some first-hand accounts of what happened. What do you think was supposed to be "looked into" anyway?

[The Messenger didn't tell her that part.]

They didn't...

[How are they expecting to get any information if they don't say what they need?]

Uh... anyway. The Heaven's had a lot of leftover White Day chocolates and asked us to start distributing them. But they were poisoned with ayakashi. Some of them were the normal kind, and others went after people on the Far Shore exclusively.

Oh no!

[Kairi's hands go to her mouth.]

How does chocolate get poisoned with.... you said not even just blight, but real ayakashi stuffed inside? How awful!! I can't imagine biting into one of those... Those poor people...

Yeah.

According to Amaterasu... actually hold on.

[He'll pull out his phone and start flipping through some documents.]

Something went wrong at some point where they were delivered from the heavens to us because all the chocolate was ayakashi infused. Some of them were small and tried to make people commit suicide. The strange ayakashi from the Susano'o rebellion were also present here, and those only attacked gods and shinki.

All chocolates were of the same brand, Fujisaki Confectioneries. Anybody on the Far Shore who ate that chocolate had food poisoning.

Amaterasu made a statement about it on March 23, at noon.

... She said all that, and they still wanted me to ask around? I wonder what they're looking into...

[Of course, from recent experiences she ends up focusing on the 'strange ayakashi'.]

I hadn't heard about Susano'o's rebellion, or the strange ayakashi - that sounds like a scary legend come to life.

[All the same, Kairi starts taking down notes on her own phone now.]

Well, these are mostly my own notes on this stuff. You can find Amaterasu's address to us on that day... I can send you the link, if you'd like.

[He scrolls down.]

About Susano'o's rebellion. That was April 19th. There was a new Susano'o that rebelled against Amaterasu. Basically he augmented these ayakashi so they'd only go after Far Shore residents, shinki and gods. ... That Susano'o also caused his shinki to go out of control and died from being impaled on his shinki's claws.

Neither of them are here anymore. Amaterasu made a statement the situation on April 21st. Sujin also made a follow up report on May 8th.

That's so awful! I can't believe I didn't know about any of this...

[She keeps tap-tapping away on her phone to make notes.]

Maybe... they're worried about these kinds of things happening again? What they can do to prevent another god from getting so angry at heaven?

[She is full of Hope that they're trying to learn from a past experience.]

At least, if that Susano'o guy was defeated, the.... suicide ayakashi can never showed up again.

You're a newer arrival, right? The Heavens don't broadcast their past mistakes. It's frustrating, but they keep a lot from us.

I don't think that Susano'o was responsible for the suicide ayakashi. I think he only created the ones that went after gods and shinki. We had that sudden burst of... suicides the last time people arrived. Those ayakashi are probably... normal, but how they got into the chocolates isn't.

That would be great! For other people too, not just me. Maybe we can help them keep less from us if we show we're willing to help, right?

[Eternal optimist.]

But hmm... so you think it's more like he just took advantage of the timing? The suicide ayakashi showing up and then he released some of his own? I didn't know more of them cropped up again recently. I was doing a lot of training that day.

[And with Roxas not taking her there, it would've felt awkward otherwise.]

I guess... Susano'o could have still made the ayakashi that came up this last time, right? From inside of... jail or something?

[Nothing in his statement made her think he was gone for good.]

I posted one a while back but we've got a lot of new faces now. Hm... maybe.

[Though it's just as likely to end up starting a fight. He'll take the chance.

He pauses and thinks back on his statements- just because somebody dies, doesn't mean they'll necessarily be gone for good.]

No. He couldn't have been involved in that. That incarnation of Susano'o has disappeared from the heavens. Nobody has seen him since everything that happened that day.

... Do we know that for sure? Just because no one's seen them in awhile? Maybe he escaped and he's in hiding because he knows everyone's out to get him. He's a bad guy if he made things that attacked gods and shinki, right? It's not like he's going to make a BBS post looking for new friends any time soon.

[She would certainly rather believe that he was gone, or at least locked up, but she can't quite get on board with Izuku's logic.]

I'm... fairly sure. You know the BBS lists all the gods and shinki that are in the Heavens here? He disappeared off of the BBS listings after that. As far as I've heard, nobody's hacked into it.

Uh... I think the first one was friends with Hajime. If he was still around, I think Hajime would know.

There was also a different Susano'o that showed up for a while before disappearing from the network.

... No way! [Kairi pulls out her phone and starts scrolling through it herself, having missed that completely.] Wow...

Okay, I know Hajime, so I can ask her about Susano'o then. I kind of feel bad for the second Susano'o... I know there was another Athena before and that was a little weird for Lara too.

[She looks contemplative because that's something shinki don't have to deal with at all, as far as she's aware.]

So we're dealing with at least two kinds of weird shinki and one of them showed up again last week or so on the training day... [She shakes her head.] I know people die all the time, but that's got to be one of the worst ways I can think of, driving people to do that to themselves. Their poor families... maybe that's why the Heavens cares about it so much?

It seems like Greek and Japanese gods get uh... replacements, faster than others. Provided they were well known to begin with.

[Aidos is so minor it's hard to find text about her.

... He doesn't think that's quite why the Heavens cared so much.]

I think there aren't usually that many of that sort of ayakashi around. But I think it's our responsibility to try and protect the people on the Near Shore as much as we can.

For some reason I was imagining all of this happening in the Far Shore, but I guess that wouldn't make sense since you said the ayakashi were going after normal people too...

[She taps her chin.]

Protect the Near Shore... yeah, that makes way more sense. I'll try and ask when I go back and talk to Amaterasu's messenger though. I'll have to make sure I help out Roxas as much as I can, though - he's a Greek god too. I don't want him to get replaced.

[It's a really sobering thought she hasn't considered before - the conditions to get a god replaced.]

We were handing out chocolates on the Near Shore back then. I don't know why anybody would want to put ayakashi into sweets, but that's what happened.

[Oh no, he upset her. How does he undo this damage?

Uh.]

I don't think Roxas is in danger of disappearing, if that's what you're worried about.

[Her focus temporarily leaves White Day entirely.]

But how do you know who is and who isn't in danger of it?

[This would be good information to have if he does know.]

I'm not one hundred percent certain of this, but it seems like people who are around a lot seem less likely to disappear.

Around a lot... protecting their followers? Or working with their shinki?

Either one of those things. I've been doing both and I haven't disappeared- and I think Roxas has too.

Really? What a relief...

[She definitely doesn't want him to disappear!!]
