[Open] Bring no ill will to hinder us

Who: Yona and anyone!
When: June 29 - July 4th
Where: The Far Shore / The Near Shore
What: The goddess Áine settles into her new role here in the Heavens.

A; Temple

[ Although her first day had been filled with travel and excitement and then the dangers of the attack on Amaterasu's temple, the days following had settled into a more sedate pace. Her shock at seeing her temple for the first time had been an emotional one and it had taken her a while to adjust being back in what she could only think of as her father's castle once more. ~~And if the first few nights had had her waking abruptly from nightmares, at least there was no one close enough to hear.~~

Despite the dark memories that still haunted the halls of this place for her, Yona puts on a bright smile and tackles her new duties with a determined attitude, seeing to her temple and learning as much as she can about this new place and what will be expected of her here. She can often be found in the gardens or in the orchard, sometimes working or maybe just wandering and exploring. Sometime within the first few days, an empty portion of land behind the orchard is cleared to make a simple archery range and visitors might occasionally hear the rhythmic thwip of arrow after arrow being released and finding its mark - not always perfect but consistently close enough. ]

B; The Far Shore / The Near Shore

[ Yona doesn't spend all her time within the walls of her own temple, however. She's gotten far more accustomed to roaming and exploring and while determined not to ignore any of her duties as goddess, she's also very curious about her new home and those that inhabit it. So in between tending to her own duties and her shinki, it won't be surprising to find her out exploring the Far Shore, seeing what she can learn of the other gods, shinki and temples in her vicinity.

It's not only the other gods and goddesses that interest her but also learning more about this world and her own responsibilities. A trip to the Near Shore finds her some of the information she's hunting for and she spends an afternoon or two curled up somewhere quiet, under a tree or by a pool of water, with a stack of books beside her, covering a variety of topics - from stories and lore about the god she is here to represent or history of the world she's been brought to or any other topic that might have been brought up or caught her eye recently. Also, the technology of this world continues to fascinate her, so you might find her poking curiously at the phone she'd been given upon arrival, still trying to figure out how it works and learning how to navigate the BBS and whatever else she might happen to stumble across. ]

[Forrest has been busy for the past few days, running various errands. He's on a pretty tight timetable, but every so often he needs a break. The gardens at his temple are relaxing, certainly, but a total change of scenery is really what's called for here. So while he's out strolling in the park, he happens upon Yona sitting under a tree with her books. Catching her eye as he passes by, he smiles politely.]

Ah... hello. Lovely day, isn't it?

[ She glances up at the voice, surprised by the interruption, but after a momentary blink she smiles at him and inclines her head in agreement. ]

It's quite beautiful. I thought I'd enjoy the nice weather myself while I was out exploring for a while. Were you doing the same?

I'm actually just out for a break.

[Forrest smiles, taking a seat near her.]

A friend and my father are having a combined birthday party soon, and I have a lot of work to do to help prepare.

[ Her mouth drops open in a momentary expression of surprise. ]

Oh! That is at least a very good cause to be busy, then. Birthdays are a good reason to celebrate. I wish you luck with it. Hopefully your preparations are not too difficult?

I have a lot to do, but I have help too.

[He smiles, seemingly happy about the workload, slightly overwhelming though it is.]

I'm making some of the food, and also sewing some special suits for my father's best friend and someone he wants to introduce to him at the party. And also the gift for my friend and his boyfriend.

[ Yona blinks in surprise at that. ]

My! That sounds like so much! Do you have anyone helping you? I wouldn't even know where to start.

A few friends, yes. I'm not the only one cooking, and I have someone to help me with the easy parts of the sewing. It's a lot of work, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.

I'm sure they'll appreciate all the effort you're putting into it. [ She smiles warmly, even if there's a hint of a shadow in her gaze, a whisper of sadness, there and gone again so quickly it's barely noticeable. ] I'm sure it will be a wonderful birthday celebration.

[Forrest catches the slight hesitation, but not enough to really know what it's about. If she doesn't want to talk about it, he won't press.]

I certainly hope so.

[He smiles back at her, nodding.]

Oh, but we haven't even introduced ourselves yet, have we? My name is Forrest.

Ah! You're right. I'm sorry.

[ Her expression turns sheepish at that. ]

My name is Yona! I'm very happy to meet you, Forrest. Have you been here very? long?

It's nice to meet you too, Yona. I've been here for a few months now, filling in as Lakshmi of the Hindu pantheon.

Hindu? [ Another pantheon she's never heard of, but this is how they all have been so far. ] I am here to represent Áine, she's a goddess of summer from a place called Ireland. Although I've only been here a few days now.

Are you settling in all right? I remember it being quite confusing when I first arrived.

I think I am. It's certainly an adjustment. [ She gives a self-conscious laugh at that. ] Fortunately people have been very kind and patient with me when I have been confused about something. There's a lot to remember. Oh, but there are close friends of mine that have been here a little longer, so they've also been helping to show me what I need to know.

Yes, I've found most people here are actually quite helpful and friendly.

[Forrest smiles, recalling how many friends he met almost right away.]

That's good. It's always nice to have people from home around, even if they don't always remember you.

[He's used to that too. It's sad, but more comforting to know they're near.]

I'm sure your friends can tell you as much as I can about this place, but if there's ever anything you need in the way of clothing or hair or nail treatments, I'd be happy to help.

[It's only half a joke, really. This stuff is Forrest's jam.]

[ Her expression falters a little, because the topic of Yoon is one that still has her upset. Especially after their first meeting. ]

Ahh. Yes. I guess that's happened to others as well, then?

[ His offer catches her by surprise, eyes widening slightly at the generosity of it. ] R-really?

Yes... unfortunately. My aunt Elise is a shinki here, so I understand what it's like.

[He frowns for a moment too, but he's grateful to be able to change topics.]

Of course! Helping people to look and feel their best is one of my favorite things to do.

I have a friend here, his name is Yoon. I almost didn't realize until it was too late. [ There's a note of sorrow in her voice, because even now, she doesn't know how it happened. He'd been perfectly fine and safe before she'd been brought here, even after the scare at Awa.

A change of topics is probably very much necessary. ]

Is it? [ She smiles at him warmly, her expression softening once more. ] That's very kind of you. I've only just gotten here and I only arrived with what I had on me, which wasn't much. I keep meaning to ask my friends what I should be doing about that, but I hadn't had the chance yet. [ Besides, she's gotten used to working with very little for quite some time now. ]

Yes... I've been making clothing ever since I was little, and I've recently been learning about beauty treatments too.

[He smiles, giggling a little.]

I'd originally planned on making a business out of it, but lately I've been doing so much work for free just because I enjoy it so much, or as favors to friends.

[ Her smile is bright and warm as she listens, her gaze lighting up. ]

What a wonderful way to share something you love with the people important to you. Your friends are very fortunate, I think. I hope it makes them smile as well, if it makes you so happy to do it.

There were certainly a lot of happy smiles at the sleepover party at my temple a few weeks ago, so I'd say I've done my job in that regard.

[That night is full of happy memories for him, and it shows in his expression.]

A sleepover? [ That sounds delightful, even though she's certain she's never been to one. Unless sharing a tent with her friends counted, but she doesn't think any of those companions would agree with her. ] That sounds like fun! And I'm glad it turned out so well.

Yes, it was a lot of fun. It was my first one, and I wasn't sure what to expect. But it turns out makeovers are a big part of them, so it turns out I was in my element.

[He smiles, laughing a little.]

Maybe I will have to have you show me what these... 'makeovers'? are one day. They sound like fun.

Of course, I'd be happy to show you. It's mostly hair and nail treatments, really. If you'd like to stop by my temple sometime after the upcoming festival, I'll gladly give you the full experience!

[From any other guy this would probably feel like flirting, but Forrest really does just genuinely enjoy this.]
