When: June 29 - July 4th
Where: The Far Shore / The Near Shore
What: The goddess Áine settles into her new role here in the Heavens.
A; Temple
- [ Although her first day had been filled with travel and excitement and then the dangers of the attack on Amaterasu's temple, the days following had settled into a more sedate pace. Her shock at seeing her temple for the first time had been an emotional one and it had taken her a while to adjust being back in what she could only think of as her father's castle once more.
Despite the dark memories that still haunted the halls of this place for her, Yona puts on a bright smile and tackles her new duties with a determined attitude, seeing to her temple and learning as much as she can about this new place and what will be expected of her here. She can often be found in the gardens or in the orchard, sometimes working or maybe just wandering and exploring. Sometime within the first few days, an empty portion of land behind the orchard is cleared to make a simple archery range and visitors might occasionally hear the rhythmic thwip of arrow after arrow being released and finding its mark - not always perfect but consistently close enough. ]
B; The Far Shore / The Near Shore
- [ Yona doesn't spend all her time within the walls of her own temple, however. She's gotten far more accustomed to roaming and exploring and while determined not to ignore any of her duties as goddess, she's also very curious about her new home and those that inhabit it. So in between tending to her own duties and her shinki, it won't be surprising to find her out exploring the Far Shore, seeing what she can learn of the other gods, shinki and temples in her vicinity.
It's not only the other gods and goddesses that interest her but also learning more about this world and her own responsibilities. A trip to the Near Shore finds her some of the information she's hunting for and she spends an afternoon or two curled up somewhere quiet, under a tree or by a pool of water, with a stack of books beside her, covering a variety of topics - from stories and lore about the god she is here to represent or history of the world she's been brought to or any other topic that might have been brought up or caught her eye recently. Also, the technology of this world continues to fascinate her, so you might find her poking curiously at the phone she'd been given upon arrival, still trying to figure out how it works and learning how to navigate the BBS and whatever else she might happen to stumble across. ]

- (( Want something else? Feel free to leave a prompt or a starter to encounter Yona somewhere. She'll be sticking to the Near Shore for the moment as she gets settled into her new home and duties here. Any questions can be PM'd to this journal or you can hit me up at

...Oh. You from the fire...

Yes. So we meet again, it seems. Hello. is this where you live?

no subject
Oh! No. I'm not even sure who your god is. I was merely exploring and this temple wasn't so far from my own.
no subject
I see... The Far Shore is large. Did you plan on just wandering...?

[He shrugs and puts one more bag past the doorway.]
But since so much seems to happen on the Near Shore… that’s better to explore… Have you been there often….?
no subject
No, not much, but I've looked around a little. It's very... busy? This place is very different from the world I come from.
no subject
[People who can remember the worlds they come from… What a novel concept to him now. Well, he guesses it doesn’t matter.]

[A shrug, and he finishes putting the groceries inside before closing the door so that there’s no way anything can sneak inside while he’s out here talking.]
You’ll have to… if you want to become a god that isn’t worthless.
no subject
Yes, I suppose you're right. Considering how important the tasks they've given us here are, I wouldn't want to be more of a burden than help.
no subject
...Why help them...?
no subject
You mean the humans?
no subject
...Maybe... But more, the Heavens.
no subject
I'll help the Heavens because they've asked me to help them with this task, filling in for this goddess I am here to represent. But it's not for their sake that I'll answer the prayers asked of me, or protect the humans in need. They're the reason I will act. If they are the ones beseeching the Heavens for help when the troubles they face are too big for them to handle alone, that's where I want to make a difference. I want to protect them when they cannot do it themselves.

I didn't ask to be brought here, and returning me to my home doesn't seem to be within their power to offer. If they need my help with something other then the tasks I've been entrusted with, I will consider it on the merit of what they ask for. But that doesn't change the fact that seeing to these prayers by humans in need still need to be tended to. I won't stand by and do nothing when they plead for aid from the Heavens.

I guess it does. It's not actually all that different from what I was doing before I came to this place. So I suppose you're correct.

[Faintly, he thinks of that other god- Luna- and how she was very much the same. Is this something that Axel believes in, too? For that reason, and some others, he can't help but pursue this conversation.]

There's a lot of corruption in my country, many powerful greedy people preying on the poor and the weak. I never knew how much until I was forced out among them myself. I'd lived all my life thinking my country was a happy, peaceful one. The reality... it couldn't be farther from the truth. That's what I'm trying to change, to help those who have been left with nothing for too long, to try and heal the wounds I never even knew to look for.

[This question feels- important. Somehow. His eyes stay completely on her, with more focus than his quiet gaze usually possesses.]
no subject
There are some I haven't come to that decision about yet. There are others who don't deserve to keep the power they greedily hoard. And some... [ This has her expression firming, an impassioned look that flares to life in her eye. ] There are some too evil to be left unpunished for the cruelties they have inflicted on those they were entrusted to care for. Those... I won't forgive them for what they've done.

[Simple and blunt, matching the look in his eyes. There shouldn't be any question for it, right?]
