When: June 29 - July 4th
Where: The Far Shore / The Near Shore
What: The goddess Áine settles into her new role here in the Heavens.
A; Temple
- [ Although her first day had been filled with travel and excitement and then the dangers of the attack on Amaterasu's temple, the days following had settled into a more sedate pace. Her shock at seeing her temple for the first time had been an emotional one and it had taken her a while to adjust being back in what she could only think of as her father's castle once more.
Despite the dark memories that still haunted the halls of this place for her, Yona puts on a bright smile and tackles her new duties with a determined attitude, seeing to her temple and learning as much as she can about this new place and what will be expected of her here. She can often be found in the gardens or in the orchard, sometimes working or maybe just wandering and exploring. Sometime within the first few days, an empty portion of land behind the orchard is cleared to make a simple archery range and visitors might occasionally hear the rhythmic thwip of arrow after arrow being released and finding its mark - not always perfect but consistently close enough. ]
B; The Far Shore / The Near Shore
- [ Yona doesn't spend all her time within the walls of her own temple, however. She's gotten far more accustomed to roaming and exploring and while determined not to ignore any of her duties as goddess, she's also very curious about her new home and those that inhabit it. So in between tending to her own duties and her shinki, it won't be surprising to find her out exploring the Far Shore, seeing what she can learn of the other gods, shinki and temples in her vicinity.
It's not only the other gods and goddesses that interest her but also learning more about this world and her own responsibilities. A trip to the Near Shore finds her some of the information she's hunting for and she spends an afternoon or two curled up somewhere quiet, under a tree or by a pool of water, with a stack of books beside her, covering a variety of topics - from stories and lore about the god she is here to represent or history of the world she's been brought to or any other topic that might have been brought up or caught her eye recently. Also, the technology of this world continues to fascinate her, so you might find her poking curiously at the phone she'd been given upon arrival, still trying to figure out how it works and learning how to navigate the BBS and whatever else she might happen to stumble across. ]
C; Other
- (( Want something else? Feel free to leave a prompt or a starter to encounter Yona somewhere. She'll be sticking to the Near Shore for the moment as she gets settled into her new home and duties here. Any questions can be PM'd to this journal or you can hit me up at
C - On the 29th so this is nice and early!
It's only been a couple of minutes since Shizuo had accidentally broken one of the cups that was in stored away. Not by dropping it or heating it too far, but by squeezing it a hair too hard without realizing it. This was probably the second time it had happened, and the blond was trying to be more careful with everything. Especially when it was plain to see how much this place meant to Yona.
Enough for her to have nightmares- He was well aware of them happening, but with the situation and having no ability to know how to actually help, it didn't seem right to press about them. If he asked and the girl said that she slept well, it felt cruel to say he knew otherwise.
Best he could do was keep an eye out, make sure her temple and home stayed safe (a worry he had, at least, since that fire,) and not make things difficult on the redhead. Which is why he gives a gentle warning while sweeping and picking up all the cup's broken pieces with his hand. It was also one of those rare moments where the blond had the sunglasses off- he seemed to put them on without thinking whether he was outside or in. ]
Ah, watch your step when walking around here. Some pieces might have spread out further than I've checked.

[ She pauses before proceeding, peering down at the broken pieces of teacup in surprise a moment before crouching to help him pick them up. ]
Are you alright? Did something happen?
[ There's less concern for one broken piece of porcelain and more for the chance that he might have gotten injured in the process. One hand cupped to hold, her other plucks up some of the remaining shards from the floor with care. ]
no subject
[ He's not sure if her getting hurt by walking on shards or by deliberately picking them up would be worse. At the very least, it didn't look like he was hurt or in any kind of pain.
Yona will eventually learn that that doesn't mean much anyway. There probably were definitely slivers of the porcelain in his hand, given how he was sweeping it along the ground to gather everything into a pile. He just wasn't showing any sign of it. ]
It kinda just broke in my hands. I thought that I was barely holding it...
no subject
[ Now she does look a little alarmed as she discards the broken shards into the waste can nearby before coming back to crouch beside him. ]
Here. Drop those in here and let me see your hands. [ She wasn't taking any chances either way. ]
no subject
Pretty sure I'd know if anything cut or splintered into my hands.
[ Yet as he dumps the shards out into the can to show the hand he was working with, there were a few finer shards clearly sticking out with tiny beads of red there and where it looks like he got the equivalent of a paper cut from one of the shards. The only really good thing about this is that it was all incredibly shallow, despite how careless he was.
Given that he held the hand up for Yona to see the palm, all he saw was the back of his hand. ]
See? It's completely fine.
no subject
[ It's said with a note of fond exasperation because if he'd been trying to make a point, he'd failed somewhere along the way.
Still, she reaches out to gently clasp his hand and turn it over, palm up, so she can carefully pick out the shards of glass in his flesh. At least the tiny droplets of blood welling up make them easy to spot. When she's certain she's gotten them all, she tugs free a handkerchief from her sash and carefully wraps it about his hand, tying it off in a neat little knot under his thumb. ]
I don't have any actual bandages or medicine for it here, unfortunately. Although I might know someone I can ask where to get them. but hopefully this will be enough in the meantime. You didn't feel it?
no subject
[ He definitely wasn't expecting that in his show about being completely fine. Mostly because it didn't make sense- people should know when they're hurt, right? It didn't feel like there was anything, because if he knew there was something he'd have
hidden ittaken responsibility before Yona went off and used her clothes to cover it up after taking the shards out.The good news was probably that, when the items were removed, nothing really beaded or increased in what little blood was there before. ]
They sell most medical things you could need at general stores. And if I felt it, I wouldn't have shown you my hand while saying it was completely fine. I probably would've just rinsed it off.
no subject
But I'm glad you're not injured too badly. I wonder if it was cracked? [ She muses this aloud, but there's a thoughtful frown on her face as she considers it. After the Incident with the tree earlier in the week, she's been trying to figure out how to bring this up with her shinki - for his own sake, mostly. ]
Has this been happening a lot since you arrived here? [ More than she's seen, she means. ]
no subject
[ Yet he felt awkward commenting about the cup- it could've been an out and excuse, but it wouldn't be right. If only because Shizuo was also well aware that the cup, much like the other one, had been in wonderful condition.
It really wasn't a surprise that the girl was asking about it by this point. There have been enough issues where the only problem was him. ]
Not a lot, but I've also, uh, been trying to be careful. After that other time when we first got here.
[ Especially when his worry was going towards the 'what if' of this happening to Yona. ]
no subject
I know you've been being careful. I'm not upset about it. But I'm not sure just being careful is really going to help you in the long run. Maybe we should try letting you not be careful for a little while?
no subject
I, uh... I don't know if that's really a good idea.
[ When all of this happened by accident when he was trying to avoid it, Shizuo could only imagine how much worse it could be. All too easily, he came up with the mental image of Yona on the ground, really hurt.
The very idea of that being a possibility felt like a punch in his throat. Hating that idea, feeling just as bad that it came to mind so easily. ]
Someone could get hurt.
no subject
Someone could get hurt even if you don't. [ It's blunt, but it's not said unkindly, just with a patient understanding as she meets his gaze. ] If you keep avoiding it, you won't understand it. I think you need to find out what you can do instead, so you can get a better idea of how you should be careful.
no subject
And physical memory and habit. ]
I don't think there's really a good way of finding that out. We really don't need more things breaking.
[ Oh, if only Yona knew someone that had the strength of a dragon or something... ]
no subject
[ Pausing, she recalls the tree now leaning slightly lopsided outside after having been uprooted. ]
Have you come across anything your strength couldn't lift yet?
no subject
[ If Yona never brought it up, he's hoping that it's never been noticed. ]
Not really, but it's not like I've been trying to lift a bunch of things. There might've been something weird that I pulled up, but that wasn't really on purpose or anything.
no subject
The tree? I'd wondered about that.
no subject
You, uh... Noticed that, huh?
Sorry.
no subject
It's a little crooked. But it's alright, I'm not upset. More intrigued than anything else. But that's the strength I'm talking about. You need to understand how much you have and how to control how much you use when you want to - without that, you'd only be guessing. You can't be afraid to practice controlling it in order to master it.
[ A hesitation before she inclines her head. ] I might know someone who can help, but I'd have to talk to him about it first. In the meantime, finding out how strong you really are might need to be our priority.
no subject
Honestly, Shizuo doesn't know how to get over that. Not wanting to say no, mostly because she's right, the best he could do is accept the responsibility while admitting that there'd be delays. ]
Well, that's not happening in a place that seems to be your old home. I'll see what I can do, but it's happening where I know people aren't gonna get hurt, or where the things people care about can get damaged.
no subject
I'm certain we can find an area where there are no people. the Heavens here are vast, after all, and there's plenty of spaces where there are no temples. I'll look into it, if you'd be willing to try?
