[Busy isn't the word for how she's feeling right now, but she does nod.]

It's been a long night. Maybe I'm thinking about things too much. I've been going with how I feel since I got here, but some things I guess are just too important to wing it.

[Lavi stares at her for a moment.

Always a busy body, but then he remembers something and smiles at her.]

I guess. Sometimes, it's just nice to let yourself relax a bit, right?

[Ah, right. He grins at her.]

I have a present for you.

A present?

[Oh no. Her mind starts racing. Lavi's not one of the people she told her split-heart woes to, but they did share that dream together and- She tries to close her eyes and look back up at him with just mild hesitation.]

You... you didn't have to, though.

[The last time she got a present was from Forrest, hence her worry.]

[He blinks once, studying her.

She seemed...afraid?

Lavi pulls back a bit, suddenly feeling as if he's overstepped a boundary.]

No, but it's just a little thank-you gift for you. [He shakes his head.] But if you don't want it, it's fine.

It's not that! I'm sorry, Lavi. I just have a lot on my mind tonight.

[She purses her lip before continuing.]

I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. I guess I wasn't sure what the occasion might be, to give me something.

[So, not him, but something's still bothering her.

He just. Looks at her, somewhat bemused.]

If I didn't know better, I'd say you sound a little traumatized, Kairi.

[Or at least, just afraid. Either way, he hands her a small, rectangular wrapped up box.]

But here.

Traumatized?! Oh no...

[She feels bad for tangenting like this when she's got his present in her hands, but she doesn't want him to keep thinking it's a bad sort of thing... or at least not one that will linger.]

Look... earlier tonight I had to admit to myself that even if I like two boys, I have to turn one of them down. So... I did. I should be happy that this means I can find... I'll tell you who it is if you want, but it's okay if you don't want to know. He's a god, so I'm just worried I made him wait too long while I figured everything out.

[Then she holds the box closer to her chest, hoping nothing bad results from what she's said.]

I'm sorry, that's all it is.

[He listens to her explanation and suddenly, it makes sense.

A sigh escapes from him and he shakes his head. He gives her a smile.]

No wonder you've got a lot to think about. [Romance...really is a complicated thing.]

But if one is a god and he likes you, I don't think he'd mind waiting a bit longer. [He tilts his head.] Have you figured everything out?

I just meant that because he's a god - well they both are - then he might have felt like it was a long time or... or I don't know.

[She waves a hand. That part didn't matter to here, that he was a god, only that she made him wait.]

I did figure things out... Now I just have to find a way to go back and talk to him about it all. I'm just nervous, like... how long to wait after I turned the other boy down, that sort of thing.

[And she was worried Lavi was trying to ask her out through the gift.]

Should I go ahead and open it? I'm already thinking about what to get you in return, as a friend.

[A blink before he adopts some sort of look of amusement.]

Just don't wait too long, Kairi.

[Listen, Lavi likes you, but he doesn't like you. And hearing all of this, he thinks it's probably safer not to go down that road with her.]

Go ahead.

[She's relieved. She does like having male friends, truly, and not just as sparring partners.]

I won't. I'm too nervous to last very long, I don't think. [She laughs quietly.]

Okay, let's see...

[And she pulls the lid off.]

[Lavi simply waits patiently.

Inside of the box, there's a cherry blossom hairpin nestled inside.]

[She pulls it out carefully to look at it at eye level.]

Lavi... how beautiful...

[And it looks expensive!]

Now I really need to find you something.

[She chuckles a bit.]

Maybe a scarf?

[Lavi chuckles.]

A scarf would be just fine, Kairi.

[He feels a little weird without one, anyway.]

[She smiles and tucks the box away inside of her obi, thinking about their dream.]

Wonderful. I promise it won't be as ugly as the one we dreamed about.

[More importantly, she leans forward to give him a hug in appreciation of their friendship.]

[At the reminder of the dream, he tries not to laugh.]

[The hug takes him a little by surprise before he returns it.]

[She pushes gently at his shoulder.]

[She gives him a scolding look, but it's entirely for show.]

[And her smile turns fond again.]
