Well, it comes easier to some people than others. Especially if they have a weird power of their own. Some new shinki fire off those powers instead of drawing a line, if they don’t concentrate hard on it. But it’s basically that easy.

And yep, they’re visible. You’ll see in a minute… [Looking around, this looks like it’s sufficiently away from the festival crowd to not draw any attention.]

Okay. So first make your fingers into a halberd like this. [He makes his hand into a loose fist, then extends his thumb, middle and index fingers.] Then, while thinking about drawing that line between you and what you want kept out, draw a line with your hand.

Line! [Swiping his hand through the air Yukine draws a line that gets transcribed on the ground. A thin line of light springs up, running a few meters up and down the street.]

....and that's when he decides to lean against Bandou's side as they walk. Just so he doesn't get swept up in the crowd. ]

It's... not really the flavor. It's just a little hard to explain...

[ It's a little weird to explain how you seem to be subconsciously repulsed by bean paste but that's how it is. ]

[Ah, Izumo chuckles, shaking his head.]

[Because Izumo who flirts and is usually so composed enough that he gets along somewhat fairly well with everyone, doesn't have anyone he wants to walk with it.

So he smiles, softer now.]

[ And he's already bowing from the waist when he realizes she's taking the more western approach. That's when he straightens himself and accepts that hand with an apologetic grin. ]

When tilting his head the other way fails to bring about any kind of epiphany, Senri decides it's easier to simply accept it. So he nods.

And he even has some advice for the future. He points toward the overzealous vendor.]

[OPEN: July 5th Prompt - Just after the start of the Festival]

It might not be immediately obvious who it is walking around amongst the stalls and food and paper decorations hung with care. Orihime is dressed in a pastel purple yukata that will be shucked at home eventually. For now, she is content to mingle through the Festival, peeking around and hearing the joyous noises. She even smiles occasionally at random passersby.

By dusk, however, she will have left the festival entirely. She has to change before she can return and even with 2 attendants, it'll be a lengthy ordeal.

[OPEN: July 5th Prompt - Closing Ceremony]

It is very late, about an hour before the Festival area will be closed off. A gong sounds and a series of very large shoji screens are brought onto the stage. They all have art in the style of ukiyo-e: the floating world. A narrator comes on stage at that time. He recounts the story of Tanabata in Rakugo style - with no instrumentalists and no performers. He tells how Orihime was a princess and a goddess and fell in love with Hikoboshi, emphasizing that she shirked her duties as a weaver goddess to her father, Oosama the King of the Heavens. It was thus that she received her punishment of the dissolution of her marriage, but in his kindness Oosama pardoned the lovers. For one special night, Oosama grants them a reprieve on the law of heaven and allows his daughter to be married to her Hikoboshi again and stay with him on the far side of the Amanogawa river, where other gods can teleport easily across on the same night as the magical barrier is dropped... but not Orihime. She must walk across the bridge, as she walks everywhere without her princess title, as a working weaver goddess the rest of the year.

But! Here she is, returned to her splendor for the festival, the weaver princess...

The screens slide away. Orihime was behind them the whole time on the Performance Stage, dressed in the most formal and traditional attire a princess could be. She is on her knees with a pillow beneath her, and does not stand or move from the spot - nor does she speak.

But the crowd does cheer. Then the narrator finishes the Closing Ceremonies - be sure to make your wishes known on the tanzaku and perhaps it will come true.

As everyone starts to file away to return to games and food and one last walk across the bridge, most people approach Orihime to look at her and bow to her, but especially the Near Shore people do not speak to her at all. Being in her presence is seemingly enough. Some do whisper hopes that their wishes will be granted the same way that Orihime's wish to see her beloved came true.

[CLOSED: The Bridge]

Throughout the day and early afternoon, the Bridge looks just as it did during the Festival proper, back on July 5th.

And then dusk sets, and finally 6:30pm local Heaven time rolls around, and Orihime walks towards the Bridge, tentatively looking to the sky and half expecting it to rain. She arrives at the Bridge around 6:45pm, walking along their side of the Milky Way River, the Amanogawa, from her little house. There she waits for 14 long, excruciating minutes, until at last a little alarm on her phone rings at 6:59pm. It sounds like birds chirping before she shuts it off and returns it to the folds of her kimono.

Then, as quick as a woman in kimono and geta can manage, she starts walking over the expanse of the bridge. Even the river's spray can't deter her as one side of her kimono gets a little damp. The river is wide, more than wide enough she can't ever cross it on her own the other days of the year.

And for any onlookers with a close enough view, they will see her stop. Maybe they can see that another figure has arrived from the other direction to meet her halfway... and maybe they see her abandon all pretense and run towards him, hugging him close for several minutes before they kiss, and then start to walk away - to the other side of the Amanogawa.
