The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

Nanako | Aged Up!

July 16 & 17

[ Nanako doesn't think anything strange about waking up as a teenager, although this is sure to cause some confusion with anyone else who doesn't remember her being that way. Slim and still resembling her cousin in some ways, she can be spotted with much longer hair often drawn back off her face by a pair of pink ribbons.

She's got her hands full since several people she knows seems to be affected by whatever is happening and she's quick to look after any of the young children she sees that need help, as well as offering a hand to those who have remained old enough to look after them all - since they seem much outnumbered all of a sudden.

She can be found at certain times at her temple, cooking large meals and making bento boxes to be handed out to anyone who looks hungry and also enlisting anyone who knows what they're doing or perhaps just has an extra pair of hands to borrow.

Although on the rare times it seems like they might have everything under control she slips out to see some of her friends and check that everything in their temples are alright as well... Or maybe to just catch her breath and take a walk or a quick flight - something she is exceptionally better at at this age, light and graceful and experienced as she wings overhead. Hopefully, someone has some answers about what is going on soon.... ]

[Remember when you had to crane your neck upwards to meet Aymeric's gaze? Well now you have to look down because that small voice certainly belongs to him as he's crawling around some bushes to find 'Ser Kitty'.]

[ the voice... doens't sound familiar, but she crouches down to peer under the bush from the other side, looking for the source. ]

[Voice may be tiny but he does have a familiar flop of dark hair, pointy ears, and blue eyes. At first he moves back a little but she seems ok?]

He's wandered off here! I cannot see him!

July 16

She's flying, but what startles him is the fact she's a teenager.]

[ Nanako's head comes around and she beams when she catches sight of him, quickly changing direction and floating down to land lightly in front of him, like she'd done it hundreds of times. ]

Izumo! Good morning! Have things been chaotic over here, too? At least you're not suddenly five, too.

No, I think I lucked it out there.

[She's flying a lot smoother now than she was as a kid.]

But it seems you've aged up.

[And then there's the kitty. (Cat, Kija. Cat. You're not a baby. Proper words.)

[What do you do with cats? Kija isn't sure but fluffy white kitties get hungry, too, so he can't just leave her in this big empty building all alone. So, picking her up as carefully as he can, he carries her (well, he thinks she's a girl) out with him and... well, he isn't quite sure what he was going to do next. Take her somewhere there was food?

[Well. When in doubt, ask a grown-up.]

[ At the sound of the young voice, Nanako turns to spot the little white-haired child clutching a cat that almost seemed as big as he was. Surprised, she comes to crouch down in front of him quickly all the same. ]

Of course! What do you need help with? Is this your kitty?

16th

[It occurs to the extremely distracted and generally wandering around seven-year-old Shun about halfway through the day that he should probably be trying to find something to eat. His stomach is making quiet rumbles at him already, so when he sees a nice-looking lady handing out lunchboxes, he approaches a little shyly.

Once he sees that she's taking help, though, he looks a bit more confident and steps up to her.]

Could I have a bento, please? I can help you out in return.

[ That particular head of hair is impossible to miss, so Nanako crouches down in front of him with a friendly - if very surprised - smile. ]

Shun? Is that you? Of course you can have a bento. Are you hungry? Come over here with me and we'll pick one out for you. [ Although considering this is Shun... ] Is there something you'd like to eat?

July 16

[There's a small child with a familiar shade of blue hair in a pale blue sundress, wandering around unsupervised. As far as Natsuru remembers, she's been this age ever since she arrived here, and she does recall meeting a girl her own age that kind of looks like the older girl! But she obviously wouldn't recognize a teenage girl as the same person. That'd be silly.

Natsuru had been looking at a poster of idols, when she turns to face Nanako. The same bright and cheerful wonder is in her eyes still, and she blurts out her first thought without any filter whatsoever.]

Wow, you're really pretty! Are you an idol too?

[She's so innocent and eager and just really admires people far too easily. Also she clearly needs supervision. Help.]

[ The question catches her by surprise and Nanako blinks a moment before laughing and crouching down before the little girl. She doesn't recognize her, but considering everyone seems to be different ages today, that's not so much of a surprise right now. ]

[ There is a thud beneath Nanako as she makes her midair trip.

This little girl, who'd happened to be glancing up at the sky as the goddess flew by, is staring in absolute awe. A basket's fallen off her arm, hence the noise. That person's - she's - she's soaring! She's shining!

And that can only mean one thing. ]

Heeeyyyyy!! [ Running to keep up. She doesn't want to take her eyes off this wonderful person! ] Are you - are you an idol?

[ At the sound of a young voice, Nanako pauses in her flight to glance down and see a young girl racing after her. Lightly winging to change direction, she floats down to land in front of the little girl with a friendly smile and an easy grace. ]

Not exactly. [ Although she seems to be getting that a lot today. ] Do I look like an idol?

July 17 Because I like to suffer

[ Eric smells food, a lot of it. His poor stomach protests to find out where it's coming from and for once he's going to follow it.

He finds himself sneaking into a temple and coming face to face with a lot of food in a kitchen. So many boxes, with so much delicious smelling food. He's almost distracted enough by that before he realizes someone else is in the room with him.

He squeaks quietly, backing away as fast as he could before he's noticed. Unfortunately, he wasn't seeing where he was going and ran into a wall, causing some noise. He freezes. ]

A-ah...

[ She hadn't realized he was there until she'd heard the soft squeak, and she catches sight of him just as he bumps into a wall. Going still, she holds up her hands to show she didn't mean him any harm, because he looked frightened and ready to bolt. ]

Ahh! Sorry! I didn't realize anyone else was here. It's okay, you're allowed to be here. Are you hungry?

[The number of years Nanako has aged up is probably roughly equal to the number of years Barry has been aged down. He's back in his prime, lighter and fitter and with a flowing mane of blond hair reaching down to his shoulders - the very picture of a heavy metal musician.]

Whoa, an angel!

[This is probably deja vu for Nanako after the other day, but for Barry, this is his first time seeing her like this.]

[ It might be, but it still takes her a moment to place him and even then she's not certain - the hair throws her off a little as she slows to land in front of him. ]

Ahh, yes! [ She looks a little sheepish at being spotted. ] it's faster than walking...

I have like three threads going with her right now but w/e I do what I want. July 16, late morning.

[ The church is surprisingly quiet, despite all of the strange things going on around the Far Shore. Perhaps the archangel's domain has not been affected by the strange effects of time distortion after all, and as Nanako arrives on the grounds (be it by ground or by air), all seems to be in its proper place.

Until one of the doors of their modest church opens, and a tiny figure peeks her head out to look, wrapped up to her shoulders in a sheet and a look of wonder as clear as day on her face.

An angel? An actual angel? ]

[ Spotting the tiny head that peeks out of the doorway of the church at least answers one of her questions as Nanako wings down to land on the steps.

Folding her wings behind her, she crouches down where she lands and gives the wide-eyed girl a warm smile. ]

Hello. I didn't startle you, did I?

[July 16th and she's realized... she's the only normal person in the house right now. Souji and Kanji? Tiny. Nanako and Naoto? Older than they're usually supposed to be.

Hopefully it wears off, but she can help out in the kitchen.]

[ Nanako glances up with a smile when she spots the other girl, a flicker of relief across her face. At least there was one person in this place that had remained familiar. ]

Ahh, maybe? I wouldn't say no to another set of hands...

July 17 - Age 4

[ Kairi has discovered Nanako's temple and all of the pretty flowers there, so she's bound and determined to collect as many of them into her skirt as will fit.

Which is not that many.

At least she's humming a happy tune as she keeps spilling them over the side? ]

[ Nanako spots the little girl as she returns from handing out lunches, spotting her and her bundle of flowers and pausing to greet her. it's only as she comes closer and catches sight of her face that she realizes she knows her. ]
