The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...



Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

I don't know. She was in the house. But she's not scared of me so I guess maybe?

[Oof. She's wriggling.

[Carefully, Kija puts the cat back down. She flicks her tail in annoyance, then settles down a few disdainful feet away - just enough to make it obvious she is Extremely Displeased, but not so much as to risk becoming lost. Strange though these two are, they both smell familiar enough that she doesn't want to try her luck elsewhere. These two have food.]

Do you know what she wants to eat, please?

[ Recognizing the cat faster than she's recognized Kija, it helps that there aren't many people here with hair quite like his. Not to mention his claw, which she'd finally caught sight of once he set the cat down, no longer hidden in her fluff.

But his question gets a warm smile from her and a nod. ]

I think I can help with that. Most cats are very fond of fish and it just so happens I have some left over from when I was making lunches earlier. Shall we go get her her own bento?

You can?

[Oh, good!

[Kitty - cat, Kija - hasn't gone anywhere, either, which is also good: she sits watching them, the white feather that is her tail flicking back and forward, as she waits for someone to feed her. Kija bends to pick her up again, careful as he dares: the cat, for her part, supposes that if being carried around by a small boy is what it takes to get her to the food, she can tolerate it for the sake of the fish.]

Thank you. Um, but won't it be troublesome for you?

Not at all. I enjoy doing it, and that's my purpose here, after all. My specialty as a goddess is finding people who are lost or need a place to stay and making sure they're looked after. Even if it's a kitty.

[ She gives him a playful wink, as if she's confiding a great secret with him before she motions for him to follow her. ] Bring your kitty with you this way, I have some fish for her in here and then she'll be happy.

All right. Thank you!

[How quickly can you move with a kitty - cat - in your arms?

[Not quite quickly enough, apparently. The cat's more than a little wriggly by the time Kija makes it into Nanako's temple. Oof. Better put her down and hope she follows... well, she can probably smell the food or something. The cat trots after him, sniffing the air, mewing beseechingly. Yes, there's fish in here.]

Um... Can I help you at all?

You're welcome. [ She calls it back to him as she leads the way inside. The sound of his cat meowing for fish has her smiling as she sets some on a plate before turning back and crouching down to set it before Kija's pet.

She offers him a smile at the offer. ] That was simple enough, but thank you for the offer. What about you? Are you hungry at all? I have bentos, if you haven't eaten yet. There are a lot of people feeling a little lost today, so I made plenty for everyone.

[justclaws]

That's all right. You've been really nice. I wish I could do something nice for you, too.

[He crouches down by the cat's side, watching intently as she starts, in the dainty and delicate way of cats, to eat. Kija wonders if it would be okay to pet her a little or if he should just let her eat. No, that might upset her. Nobody likes being bothered while they eat.

[Perhaps he is a little hungry, too. Now that the lady says so.]

I am a little. Really, it won't be a bother?
