Summary: A breach in the space-time continuum is messing things up.

The Far Shore has been dealing with a lot of space-time pulsating through the past week or so and everything is culminating on the night of the 15th, even though the Heavens are preparing for an all-out Obon bash. They had planned to have the celebration on the 15th itself, but Amaterasu asked to postpone a day due to the horrible feeling that is permeating the Far Shore.

And it turns out she was right to postpone everything. In fact, it will have to be postponed another whole month at this rate...

Before

Late in the day on July 15th, the new batch of shinki will arrive to a Far Shore with a thick, tense atmosphere. All night on the 15th it feels like something is about to happen - and it's difficult to tell whether that something will be good or bad. Any attempts to contact the management of the Far Shore have fallen on deaf, slightly harried ears and so everyone is left to their own devices to try and figure out why things are so tense.

July 16

Just after midnight, an explosive shock wave rips through the Far Shore, bringing on the age changes with it. Even the spirits of the Far Shore seem to be affected - for example, the library goblins are either toddling around on wobbly legs or are dragging themselves from place to place and looking decrepit. There are a few gods and shinki that seem to have been exceptions from the change, though it is not clear why.

July 17

Another wave of energy comes in the early morning of the 17th. Fewer people are affected this time and it seems to alter those people's ages a second time. There is no rhyme or reason to who is being affected further. Several of the library goblins have just dropped dead from severe old age. Oops.

Aftermath

Late on the 17th brings about one final burst from the energy that has been plaguing the Far Shore. For a short moment, every new temple glows with a soft light, seeming to beckon to their owners. But the light is gone quickly and everyone will find themselves back to normal with complete memories of everything that happened during their age adventures. The goblins that died, though, are still very dead. Looks like the library will need to get some new help soon.

[Although the voice is entirely unfamiliar, the names that it’s shouting aren’t.
Taking a cautious peek around a corner towards where the voice is coming from, it so happens that his eyes lock with the shouter’s.]

Damn, what timing—

[Grumbling that to himself under his breath he is quickly distracted by having to look up at Goten. … This teen really is him, isn’t it. Damn it- His dignity as a senpai-!]

Goten… no, ‘fraid I haven’t seen Aymeric-sama. Not even a smaller version. Are you okay? You didn’t happen to eat any weird fruit, did you? [Because if yes he wants some of that.]

[Oh hey it's Yukine, perfect! He hasn't changed a bit at all. Even if Goten has to look down physically to Yukine, it'll never change how much he really, and probably always will, looks up to him.]

I lost track of him. I guess since he turned into a kid he doesn't remember me...

[He was really hoping Yukine could point him in the right direction but that doesn't seem to be the case. ]

Huh? I'm fine but I didn't eat any weird fruit. I just sorta, woke up bigger. [He smiles sheepishly] It's fun but sorta bad too. I'm glad you're the same though!

Yah, right... Anything that happens suddenly is sorta bad.

Well, if you guys didn't eat any fruit I guess it's not that. Hopefully whatever it is this time won't last long though. [Part of him is glad he didn't change too, but part of him would really like to be tall again...]

Anyway I can help keep an eye out for Aymeric-sama. Mmm. If he's just a little kid and doesn't remember anything... he might try to hide somewhere that feels safe and familiar?
... I don't know him well enough to guess what kind of place that might be for him, though.

I sorta like being older but it's made control really, really bad.

[Goten doesn't know which he prefers. It's so nice being tall and an 'adult' yet he's having a really hard time with his Chi and strength. Plus Aymeric doesn't remember him..]

Uh...I tried a couple places already but when I chased after him, he kept running away...

[Goten doesn't understand kids because he's only been a teenager for a couple of hours. He doesn't get why Aymeric would run from him or why running at a scared small child is a bad idea]

Oh, that's what you meant? [Yukine winces, thinking of how the kid's control was before, even.] I guess a sudden growth spurt would do that to ya...

[And he then looks up at Goten sternly.] Well, no kidding! Of course people run away when they're being chased! Man, he'll probably not want to be anywhere near you at this rate.

Yeah....Aymeric going to be upset when he sees the temple but when I tried to clean it up I broke the table...

[So he sort of just left it like that because trying to help just made it that much worse. But it's the stern look and the way Yukine scowls him that makes Goten blink slowly. Yukine was nicer to him when he was smaller.]

[Goten's shoulder slump as he pokes his fingers together.]

S-Sorry! I really didn't mean to scare him. I was just trying to grab him and explain stuff.

[He's trying his best here. Honest.]

... [It's Goten looking so dejected that actually makes Yukine realize that despite his looks, he's still a kid on the inside.

So yes, chasing and trying to grab someone isn't well thought out, but he supposes it's what a kid would do.]

I get it, I get it. I'm sure you were just trying your best.

Anyway. You shouldn't try to keep chasing him down, but it might not be good to leave him alone... Can you think of some way to maybe lure him out? [~~Because that's a far less childish idea Yukine~~]

I think he's okay for right now. The last I saw of him he was with some other kids. There's a bunch of people turned young, Yukine.

[Goten is a happy kid. He doesn't understand what is wrong with all these adult-turned-children. Everyone he's met is weird and jumpy. Goten never learned the lesson of 'Stranger Danger'.]

I tried offering candy last time and that didn't work.

[[Stranger Danger is an important life lesson... At least he can beat up bad strangers?]]

[Yukine winces a little- a bunch of people turned young? Isn’t that… really bad when it comes to gods? Did that mean they all died or something?! But then that doesn’t account for Goten growing up. Ugggh, too much weird! Too much weird!]

I see. Well, if he didn’t want candy and he’s with a bunch of other kids anyway, he’ll probably be okay. If you have control over your flying still, you could probably watch over him, if you wanted.
…What do you want to do, while you’re like this, Goten?

Flying is still easy, it's everything else that's out of control. I can't hold anything without crushing it...

[ Trying to grab Aymeric probably wasn't the best idea then! Luckily he wasn't able to to catch the bitty thanks to how distracting that was. But Yukine's question makes him blink and avert his eyes in thought.]

I wanted to go to the bar at night but it got destroyed. Besides that...punching Shizuo in the face isn't going to work cause he's small...

[He looks to Yukine. That's right!]

What do you do, Yukine? What would you do?

[At least in Goten's eyes Yukine is practically an adult.]

Damn, Goten. That's some wish list... [A bar? And he'll have to ask what this Shizuo guy did to him later.]

A-as for me? Well, I did grow up once. Because of some weird fruit, so that's why I'd asked that.
And I went and showed off to everyone how awesome I looked tall. It was a lot of fun! I have some pictures from that!

[And he whips out his phone to show off a couple pics, from after he'd gone clothes shopping for proper fitting things. It's a little bitter-sweet, looking back on it. He wishes he could be tall forever, but it'd been fun while it'd lasted.]

...This time though, it sounds like some people have lost memory as well as having their age messed up. So showing off might not mean much.
