A: Photographs and Memories

[ After talking with Izumo a few days before about his plan to make a wall of memories in his bar of all the gods and shinki who have come and gone, so they'd be remembered, Nanako can be found wandering through the Far Shore and near the temples she comes across, borrowed camera in hand. While she's quicker to approach people she knows with her request, she will often wander up to strangers as well, trying to hide her shyness and nerves behind a hopeful smile. ]

Hi! Can I take your picture?

B: Practice Makes Perfect

[ Nanako has been very determined of late to get better at her abilities, whatever they may be. So it's not unusual to find her practicing at her temple, or perhaps out somewhere on the Far Shore for a change of scenery. There might be a tiny girl wielding a bow and arrow, taking careful aim at her target as she practices again and again on improving her aim.

Or perhaps it's the light show that's drawn you in, a tiny hovering angel surrounded by a warm glow and occasionally trying to figure out how to direct that light where she wants it to go - with varying degrees of questionable success, though she remains looking determined, even when she fails. ]

C: Safe and Sound

[ Nanako is crouched beside her shrine, peering underneath the planks of wood that make the walk that surrounds it, looking distressed. And apparently pleading with someone - something? - hidden in the deep shadows underneath. ]

You can come out now, I promise, the scary storm is gone. Don't be afraid! I won't let anything hurt you.

[ Or perhaps you've stopped by on a sunny afternoon to find her sprawled on her stomach on the dock that stretches out over the lake, bowl of crumbled bread crusts beside her as she feeds the fat lazy fish circling beneath her. Watch out for the pelicans, though. They sometimes like to swoop at unexpected visitors. ]

Oh, hi!

[Did he have siblings? Ken sometimes thinks he must have done if his reaction to small children is anything to go by. Kids? Kids are adorable little balls of energy and spirit and life and good cheer, and must be protected and cherished and kept safe from any and all harm. Does he need to throw himself in front of a speeding car for this little girl (in pigtails, good lord) holding a camera that looks far too big for her hands? Because he will. Oh, totally. Without a doubt.

[Basically: this kid is cute and he sincerely hopes she's not here for the same reasons he is. Because if she is he'll have to find whoever's in charge here and kick the sh--the stuffing out of them, language, mind your mouth around the little ones.

[For now, though? She can absolutely take his photograph.]

Yeah, sure! Do you need me to bend down or anything?

[ Nanako absolutely beams at him, because approaching strangers with this question still scares her a little, even if she was determined. Unfamiliar faces were intimidating enough, but not knowing if she'd upset someone by asking was just as nerve-wracking.

So when she gets a yes from him, she breaks into a bright smile. ]

Only if you want to! You can make any pose you want!

[ Was he approached because he looked enough like Izumo, or because of that wall, and how few actually had Shizuo looking at the camera?

Yet right now there was a little kid approaching him as he was finishing a bottle of milk. For a couple of moments, he has all of zero clues as to how he should respond. Especially when the last person who did that disappeared almost as quickly as they arrived. ]

Uh, I mean... Any particular reason why?

[ She peers up at him for a moment, because she can see the resemblance, but also that he doesn't look anywhere near enough like Izumo for her to actually mistake them for one another. It's just a curiosity. One that passes as she smiles shyly at him, hopeful ]

I'm taking pictures for a friend of mine!

[It's definitely the light that catches his attention, causing him to appear behind her from where he was jumping through the sky in some attempt of exercise.

He waits until the light dies down before he speaks up:]

I see you're getting better at it.

Ahhhh!

[ Nanako yells in surprise because she'd been totally alone a moment ago and her wings go poof so fast that she lands on her butt at the abruptness of it and blinks up at him in shock. ]

[And here we have a hunting goddess returning from a successful hunt for convenience store udon. But she stops to blink curiously at the tiny girl.]

Huh? Why?

[Last time Hiyoko checked, she wasn't a celebrity or anything.]

[ She looks surprised by the question, but still offers her a hopeful smile. ]

[ She peeks up at him at the sound of his voice, her expression still distressed as she gestures at the space beneath her temple. ]

She won't come out!

[Patchouli was probably studying something else, maybe writing it down a little.]

Well, I suppose it's a strange thing to wish to photograph a stranger, isn't it? But I don't mind, either.

Is it strange? [ Nanako peers up at her curiously for a moment. ] You're not a stranger to everyone here, though. That's why I want to take a picture!

[Hm, what's this? Soleil's not exactly expecting a request quite like that whle she's out and about for the day, but there's also something hard about the idea of turning down such a cute little girl's request.]

My picture? What for?

[She offers the girl up a cheerful smile, not sounding hesitant to the idea at all. Still, she can't help but be curious over why!]

[ Nanako supplies this information with a friendly smile. ]

He wants to make a wall with pictures of all the gods and shinki who have come here and I wanted to help!

[The sound of archery -- or at least, reasonably mortal archery -- is unmistakable, and it draws the Valkyrie's interest. She stalks over (no offense, she just tends to stalk) to watch Nanako for a moment.]

Do you wish some advice?

[ Nanako had been very absorbed in her practice and gives a little yelp when someone speaks from nearby, having not expected someone to have joined her.

She blinks wide eyes at the stranger behind her. ]

Ahh... yes?

[If Nanako is curious enough to approach a newer temple, there's nothing stopping her from doing so, especially one surrounded by trees in bloom. They're very nice, shady trees that don't seem to mind being sat under if she needs a rest from her very important mission, though if she looks between the trees, she's likely to see an unfamiliar face sitting on the steps of a white, Roman temple, the door open behind her to the dark, cool areas within. She's got one knee pulled up to her chest and her chin propped up on it, looking out beyond the trees to what surrounds her. Doesn't seem like she's noticed anyone else nearby, at least not yet, but from her posture it's clear that perhaps she's...tired? A little overwhelmed? But certainly not going anywhere anytime soon.]

[ Nanako hadn't seen this temple before, so after hesitating a little distance away, she comes in to explore, eventually finding the goddess seated on the steps. She peers at her a moment before approaching with a friendly smile. ]

[Shun's checking over a couple of the vultures on top of the first floor of his temple, that meaning he's basically sitting on a flat area of the hill before it starts going sharply upwards again. Nanako approaching mostly gets a nod of acknowledgement from him as he lets one of the vultures go to flutter back to the garden, but at the request, he visibly hesitates.]

Why? [He's not suspicious, just slightly confused, apparently.]

[ She's not bothered by the blunt question, merely waves her camera at him. ]

Because I'm helping Izumo! And I need pictures of everyone!

[If Nanako lingers at Lucina's temple for a minute or two after meeting her, she'll find another new face to greet her as Prompto leans past the front door to see who his goddess was talking to.]

Iiiii heard something about taking pictures?

[Yes, hello, you have his attention, small child.]

[ At the sound of that voice, Nanako goes still in surprise, her gaze darting up into a familiar face and she almost blurts out his name, but then she remembers he'd vanished with his god and wasn't supposed to be here anymore. Now she was just confused, and that probably shows on her face, but she's quick to try and recover.

He.... did he remember her or not? What could she say? ]

Ahhh.... yes? That was me!

[Naoto looks up from her book at Nanako-chan. She'd been lounging out on the back deck of the Izanagi temple, enjoying the sunlight and a good book. Not that that didn't mean she's always happy to see Nanako-chan. She looks at the little girl's camera and then back up at her, smiling softly at the little photographer.]

Sure, of course you may.

Yay!

[ It's one of the first times today that such a request hasn't been met with suspicion and a train of questions, so Nanako beams at her, relieved. ]

[ Nanako hasn't realized her question might not be so easily understood by everyone. ]

Yay! [ Nanako looks delighted at the easy agreement - it's always a nice switch from questions and suspicion this request seems to normally garner. ] Thank you! I promise I'll be quick. How do you wanna pose for it?

[Hakkai blinks down at her for a moment, then smiles, bending down to bring himself a little closer to her eye level.]

Yes, of course. Is it easier if I'm down here or standing up?

[He hasn't spoken to Nanako in a while, but he's not about to forget the little girl looking for her mother, who hadn't panicked at the sight of a youkai painted in rotting blood. She is a special child, and he has to admit that although this isn't the sort of place where a child should be staying for so long, he's still glad she hasn't disappeared.]

[ When he bends down to her level she lifts a hand in a wave with a happy smile. ]

Hi, Hakkai! [ At his question, she hums thoughtfully a moment before crooking her finger at him. ] Down here, please? You're really tall. This way I can fit more of you in the picture!

[Ren is out seemingly taking a nap on a bench (for research purposes, or something like that), but it isn't comfortable enough to actually take a nap, so he looks up as soon as he hears Nanako approaching and gives her a cheery, horizontal wave.]

[ Why are you researching naps, Ren?

Still, she breaks into a smile when he gives her permission. ]

Hi, Ren! Do you want to stay like that for it or do something different?

[Usually, Chikusa is often at Hestia's temple, just as a matter of fact. Yet when Nanako goes wander off in search of people to photograph, she'll find the lanky teen sitting silently with his legs sprawled out.... at the gates of Epona instead. The pom-strings of his deep purple beanie hang limply at his chest.]

[Nanako's voice doesn't reach him, it seems, for a good long moment. When he does raise his head, it's slowly, and his eyes are even more dull than usual. There's a barely notable nod- easy enough to miss in fact.]

[ That's not like Chikusa at all, he's even more quiet than usual and it sobers her typical exuberance with concern as she lowers her camera and crosses over to sink down beside him instead. ]

What's wrong, Chikusa? You look sad.

[ At least he knows what a photograph is. The technology gap is easier to bridge when you already know what they are and he's been wandering around answering prayers in the Near Shore for awhile now. ]
