007 | Clean Up Your Act

Who: Everyone!
What: Spring cleaning
When: All day April 15
Where: All around the Heavens
Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.

Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

In Summary:
  • Clean up your home
  • Help clean others' homes
  • Get the main hall clean too!
  • Hope no hidden magic jumps out
  • Seek counselling if you need it
  • Enjoy your complimentary dinner
  • Have fun~

[Elise takes in the piles of books stacked up everywhere and comes to the only logical conclusion.]

Are you building a book castle?

[Because that sounds awesome. Like a pillow fort but even better.]

Can I help?

[ Elise is not wrong! Tenpou turns around and looks at her.  ]

Hello! I was trying to make thematic piles of books, but it looks like these books are enough to build a castle... Would you like to help with that?

[ Let's make a book castle. With thematic piles of books. This is perfectly logical to him too. ]

lilys_poise: (This is fun!)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-16 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love to!

[Finally something fun to do! And the idea of themes for the different piles adds a new twist on the game.]

This is gonna be so fun! What should we start with? The outside walls? What theme should they have?

[Maybe whatever pile is biggest...]
blossomstorm: (✹ 29)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-08-16 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ He stops to consider this seriously, hand under his chin. ]

Hmm. If it's the outside walls, how about hardcover books? They seem like they could take the most damage under attack.

[ There certainly are enough encyclopedias to block the whole corridor. ]
lilys_poise: (Aww YEAH!)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-16 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good idea! We don't want any invaders getting in.

[What invaders?

Also she's already forgotten they were supposed to be cleaning. She goes over to the pile of encyclopedias and starts stacking them up. There probably are enough to create a pretty good wall, but if they block the whole thing off, how would they get in and out?

Hmm.... She eyes up a nearby chair.]

Hey, do you think using furniture is cheating?
blossomstorm: (✿ 03)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-08-16 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ There will be invaders, he knows that much. But at least when they get here all these books will be sorted and it will be easier to put them away and preserve their masterpiece. ]

What do you want to use it for? [ He peeks at her choice of books. What subject are we using for our first line of defense? ]
lilys_poise: (I look so mature now! Teehee!)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-17 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
[It looks like she's starting with history books. The walls should reflect the wisdom of ages past, after all.]

I was thinking of using it like a door. If I build around it...

[She moves the chair to demonstrate, placing one stack of books on one side of the chair and another stack on the other side. Finally, she adds a stack to the seat of the chair, pretty effectively burying the poor piece of furniture except for the gap underneath.]

I can use it to get in and out, like this.

[She kneels down and crawls under the legs of the chair. She's small, so it works. But it does look a little silly. She seems pretty proud of the idea though.]

See?
blossomstorm: (✹ 03)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-08-17 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a good idea, but then it wouldn't be a book castle anymore. We could have something like a door without resorting to that. I saw a few books that could work. Let's see. Where were they...?

[ Please hold for a minute while he digs up some faded coloring books and other books aimed at children. Some of these have hard padded book covers, and all of them are rather large, and in landscape orientation. He sets three or four of them on the floor and resumes his explanation. ]

Since these are larger, we could use them to support the upper part of the entrance to the castle, but you probably won't able to get in anymore. It would be too narrow.

What do you think?

[ Meaningful life choices happening right here. ]

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-21 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm....

[Such important choices. Elise taps her finger on her chin thoughtfully. After a moment, she nods.]

That could work. I guess if it's hard for us to get out then it's just as hard for our enemies to get in!

[Because there's a whole line of people waiting to storm their book castle. Anyway she puts the chair back. Maybe they can use it a a throne later. Castles need thrones way more than they need doors. Then she goes back to stacking books up for the walls.]

So what's your favorite kind of book?

blossomstorm: (✹ 29)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-08-22 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Who knows from where, but he produces a few chess pieces and places them on either side of where the door is going to be, and then he starts working on the other side of the wall. ]

Hmmm, that's a difficult question... I like reading in general, so I'm not too picky. But lately, I've been into folklore and epics.

What do you like to read?

lilys_poise: (Aww YEAH!)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-23 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Um, I like stories with happy endings. Or any book with pictures of cute animals.

[She looks at the chess pieces curiously.]

Hey! I know that game! Do you play? We should play together sometime.

[She can't remember where she learned it or who taught her, but Elise does remember the rules.]
blossomstorm: (✹ 03)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-08-23 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, are you a chess player? We can play anytime, I have a chess set back at Athena's temple... That's who I'm supposed to be here, by the way. But my name is Tenpou.

[ He goes back to look for the horses to put them there as well. ]

By the size of our castle, these chess pieces are better inhabitants than us. And if these guards have horses, they'll be more effective as scouts in a case of emergency.

lilys_poise: (Aww YEAH!)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-23 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup! I know how to play all kinds of games.

[She's so proud. Knowing how to play games doesn't make you good at them sadly.]

I'm Elise! And I'm super glad I met you.

[He's the most fun person she's met all day. And because she's a shinki and completely without her memories, that means he's the most fun person she's met ever.]

Hey, if this is where the chessmen live then maybe we should make a throne for the king!

[She's going to stack several books of decreasing size on top of each other and set them in the middle of the castle. That seems grand enough for the king.]
blossomstorm: (✹ 29)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-08-24 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
And let's not forget the queen.

[ He's having a lot of fun here as well... He's been taking things Way Too Seriously lately, so something like this is extremely welcome. ]

I'm also very glad to have met you, Elise. Back where I come from, we used to have a lot of free time, so we played games often. I'm sure there are some I've never played, though... Ah, are you here as a goddess, or as a shinki?

[ He brings the box with the chess pieces closer to where they are so that Elise can pick and place them too. There are pieces from two or three different chess sets in there, but all of them are more or less the same size.

He takes the biggest king piece he can find and places it on top of the king's throne.
]
lilys_poise: (What do you do when you're bored?)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-08-25 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right.

[She hadn't thought of the queen. After a moment of careful consideration these decisions are important she makes up her mind.]

She can sit next to the king. They're married, so they should be together.

[The book throne is certainly big enough for two. She pulls out the matching queen and sets her next to the king.]

I'm a shinki. I think being a goddess would be hard. Isn't it a lot of work?

[So many responsibilities.]
blossomstorm: (✿ 03)

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-09-01 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that much work, unless you want it to be. As a god, you have to answer prayers and fight ayakashi, but shinki are also involved in that.

[ The god who said this is currently setting a pawn on either side of the book throne. Hard work! ]

Ah, I'm putting these here to follow protocol, but we can put them elsewhere if you think of a better place for them.

They told me the gods use shinki as weapons. Do you think being a weapon might hurt?

[She puts up another stack of books to build the castle another wall, this one behind the throne.]

Protocol? Oh, you mean those are the king's retainers. Yeah, they should be there to protect him.

[She approves of the addition of pawns. And will also add a bishop, setting him on the other side of the king.]

That's the king's adviser.

[personal profile] blossomstorm 2016-09-04 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, not all shinki are weapons. From what I've seen, some vessel forms are for defense or support. And anyone can get hurt during a fight, but I don't think being used for your intended purpose should hurt... Only if you're attacked.

[ He nods at the bishop, with a slight smile. ]

A good king always listens to his advisers... [ And then he's going to turn the king piece slightly to the side, to reflect that, but then he pauses.] Hmm. Do you think he is a good king?
lilys_poise: (What do you do when you're bored?)

[personal profile] lilys_poise 2016-09-07 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's good. It would be awful being a sword or club if you had to feel it every time you hit something.

[It would also make you a really ineffective weapon. The next answer is out of her mouth before she really has time to think about it.]

But what if the adviser is bad? If a king listens to a bad adviser does that make him bad too?
