All New Gods Conclave
Who: All new gods. Every single one, including new arrivals. Attendance is mandatory.*
What: An all new-god's meeting, featuring one important announcement.
When: May 17th, 11 a.m.
Where: The Meeting Hall on the Far Shore.
[*OOC: You do not have to tag in to show your attendance. However all the gods are brought to the meeting. This is to make sure that the information is IC-ly shared fairly with all the god characters.]
---Invitation--
Today, every single new god finds one of Amaterasu's messengers at their front door in the morning. No matter your condition from the banquet the night before, the messenger insists on handing their message to the god personally and directly. Gods not at home will find themselves found anyway, although it's now a bit later in the morning. The new shinki are absolutely forbidden to take the message for the god.
The message, written simply in black ink, reads:
"You are invited to attend a conclave of the gods, May 17th at 11 a.m. at the Meeting Hall.
The agenda comprises of one item: to give a meaningful and informational announcement in regards to your shinki. As this information has literal life-and-death consequences for the shinki, we expect your attendance.
You will be brought to the Meeting Hall promptly at 11."
At the bottom is an official-looking stamp of Amaterasu's name in red ink, and beside that a stamp of Suijin's name.
The messenger will make sure that the god understands the message, and if they don't they should ask one of the other new gods, because they aren't allowed to look at the message either. Sorry, they can't answer any questions.
--Conclave--
Promptly at 11, you are teleported to the Meeting Hall, to the inner room where the gods meet. It is dark, but when you blink your perspective shifts, and you find yourself in the midst of bars of light, in a bar of light yourself.*
A voice speaks, but you cannot quite tell if it is even male or female, let alone any other distinguishing feature about it.
"We will bring this meeting to order.
You will at once notice that you are completely anonymous here. Unless you say something to give yourself away, no one will be able to discern who you are. However, I request that you remain silent, as what you are here for is an announcement. To show that this is all done in good will, I shall reveal myself."
The golden light around the person speaking diffuses, and the speaker is revealed. In an ornate kimono she stands with her hands folded in front of her, a wide-brimmed veiled hat upon her head obscuring her face. Despite the veil you can see that her face is painted as white as her hands. Her face seems to have a completely neutral expression as her bright red lips part to speak again:
"I am the Mizu no Kami, Suijin, and today I speak for heaven.
"It has come to our attention that, as you new gods were almost all formerly human, you have some unique challenges upon you in this situation you have been thrust into. One of these challenges has to do with the God's Greatest Secret.
"The instinct that you should be following to not divulge anything of a shinki's past to them seems to be weakened in the face of human curiosity and the fact that some of you knew your shinki in life. Therefore we come before you today in order to announce to you in no uncertain terms: the way of this world is that if you reveal even the slightest piece of your shinki's past to them, they will fall.
"As most of you have already realized, the new shinki are quite different in many regards, including their name. However, the ability for them to fall is the same. A shinki's past becomes negative karma that devours them and immediately turns them into an ayakashi. There is no saving the shinki from it- no reversal, no recovery. The formerly-shinki ayakashi must be killed. Recently there was an incident of a new shinki falling, and the details of that incident are on your BBS, posted the morning of May 8th.
"In regards to the memories that some shinki have reported recovering on their own, they are still an anomaly. However, as was unfortunately proven, it remains certain that speaking to a shinki of their past will still cause them to fall.
"Telling a human to 'not think of something' will at once make them think of it, and therefore a desire to wonder about the past is very contagious among shinki. It will be up to you to curb your shinki's curiosity away from the danger. We implore you to be cautious, and for gods alone to keep the God's Greatest Secret.
"This concludes my announcement in regards to the God's Greatest Secret."
For a moment she pauses, dark eyes looking to the side for a moment.
"Although it was not on the agenda, I do have one further announcement. The heavens have been conducting our own investigation into how you all have come to be here. We would share this piece of information we have found with you: Whomever is doing this is not in Japan.
"This concludes the meeting of the gods. You are dismissed."
--Afterwards--
With the meeting concluded, you exit the dark room and return to the Meeting Hall.
[OOC: Feel free to use this post for discussion and mingling!]

...Sousuke told me about a god...that said he would force him into being his shinki whether he liked it or not.
This was when Sousuke and I re-met at the cherry blossom viewing after the fire happened. He was upset and wanted to make sure that I wasn't that kind of god.
But that made me scared for him since he hadn't found you yet, but...
[He swallows thickly.]
I guess it doesn't matter if he already has a god. Other gods can just...do that?
But why? What was the point of that?
no subject
It might have been the same person then, if that's the case.
[He makes a mental note to question Sousuke further, assuming his best friend will even want to speak with him. As if Sousuke's trust wasn't fragile enough, this incident only served to put a deeper rift between them as a result. That's something he'd prefer to avoid between Makoto and Haru, if he can help it.]
I'm not entirely sure why he'd do it... He has his own shinki and for whatever reason felt the need to use Sousuke. Leads me to believe he just wanted to because he could.
[He glances off to the side then, brows furrowing slightly.]
His god name is Loki. I plan on confronting him as soon as I see him here.
no subject
He could imagine that there were gods out there that like to exercise their power over shinki just because they could. Just as there were bad humans in the world, so too were there bad gods since it seems most of them just started off as normal humans.
But...concern washes over Makoto's face again as Rin tells him his plans.]
Are you sure that's a good idea? It could be really dangerous. If he's capable of just using Sousuke like that, then he might not care about hurting someone else.
no subject
He doesn't want to coddle Sousuke. He doesn't want to overprotect or chain him. But the longer he lives here, the more reasons he's given to go against his own morale. It's turned him desperate and maybe even a little rash.]
If I don't do it, he'll keep thinking he can hurt anyone whenever he wants. I need to prove him wrong. Besides, if he's as shifty as he is, then he'll be smart enough to not make any sort of scene here with all these people around.
[Clenching his fist]
Our friends are in more danger than we thought. I can't stand by and let these things happen to them.
no subject
I feel the same way. I don't want anything to happen to our friends or anyone else's shinki. And...maybe Loki isn't the only one who likes to do this kind of thing.
[He doesn't want to coddle Haru, either. Haru is already feeling smothered, but this new layer of supervision he's going to have to provide will suffocate him, especially without an explanation. But...unfortunately, that's something he'll just need to exercise as a god. He doesn't want to, but it's for his best friend and shinki's safety.
And as worried as Makoto is for Rin, he's not going to stop him from standing up for his friends.]
Just...be careful when you do. If he is crafty, he could make you and Sousuke into targets for other things.
...I don't want anything worse to happen...
no subject
[That's what bothers him too, knowing that there could be other gods out there willing to do the same. To hurt and exploit their shinki just because they're in the position to do so. There's a lot of power here, a lot of opportunities for danger and regret... the safety of his friends has to come first, far beyond his duty as any sort of god.
With a sigh,]
If worse comes to worst, you should at least know what he looks like. Orange hair. Blue eyes.
I don't want you or anyone else getting dragged into it.
no subject
Rin. I'm here to help. We've already talked about this.
You shouldn't try to shoulder all of this on your own.
[Especially not now. Especially when their friend group was so fragmented and fragile. They had to band together through these things. It's far too dangerous and he couldn't bear to see Rin get hurt and do nothing about it.]
If it's your problem, it's my problem too.
no subject
He should have paid more attention. He should have watched out for Sousuke instead of letting him wander off to get snatched up and used like some tool. Truthfully, Rin can't help but feel responsible for what happened, and he doesn't want to see it repeated because of more carelessness on his end.]
It's my fault this happened to him, so it's my responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen again... or to any of our friends. Things are fragile enough as it is, I--
[Sousuke can't trust me. He's angry with me.]
I let him down.
no subject
You didn't let him down. We didn't know about this kind of thing, so it's not your fault.
And we have to stick together. We're a team, remember? You can't take all of the responsibility for yourself.
[Even though, Makoto would also blame himself if this had happened to Haru, so he can understand how he's feeling. But that only makes him more firm in his words.]
All we can do now is try harder to protect them.
I'm...I'm even learning how to fight because I know it's so dangerous. Can you even imagine it?
no subject
Tsk. Regretting. It's going to get him nowhere fast.
That last comment distracts him though and he looks up, head tilted.]
Fight?
[Makoto? Fighting? He'd... laugh if this situation weren't so serious.]
Who's teaching you?
no subject
But here, defenselessness will get him and Haru killed. And then there are the ayakashi that he has to face.
He nods at the question of disbelief.]
If I don't learn, then Haru could get hurt... I would rather learn how to fight in order to defend him than do nothing at all.
[He can't help but smile before he answers the next question.]
Hijikata Toshizou! You know, the vice-commander of the shinsengumi?
He's been really kind to teach me how to fight all the way from just stances. I'm sure you'd be able to take lessons with me.
no subject
Shinsengumi...?
[The shinsengumi? With its powerful military leaders and expert samurai swordsmen protecting the shogunate and all that stuff they used to turn into popular anime? It's just one shock after the other.]
You mean... you've been learning sword fighting?
[S-so cool.]
You really think he'd teach me too?
no subject
Nothing as cool as sword fighting!
[Because let's face it. Makoto doesn't have the finesse to handle something like a sword. He might be able to get it in time, but time isn't something he has a lot of to learn how to protect Haru and anyone else who may need it.]
I'm just learning self defense with hand-to-hand.
Hijikata-sensei is really cool. He's been teaching me stances and everything so far.
[Makoto smiles a bit more about it.]
I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind! Since I'm just starting out, he wouldn't have to back track too much. I think you would like him.
Want me to ask for you?
no subject
As for himself--
His eyes widen a bit before he glances away again, feeling slightly sheepish. J-just slightly.]
I mean... I wouldn't wanna bother him or anything. He's probably busy with a lot of other stuff.
no subject
He offered me lessons with no problem, so I think it will be okay. I'll go ahead and ask him for you.
[It would also give Rin something to do. Makoto knew that he himself felt that he was bettering his position in all of this by learning how to protect shinki and people from ayakashi.]
We could be sparring partners. Maybe I'll ask for Nagisa, too.
no subject
If it pulls through, don't think I'd go easy on you just because you're you.
[But he will anyway. Because he's Rin. Then after a second,]
... Thanks. I owe you one.
no subject
[You sure you want to go easy on this one? Did you see him in the water gun fight?
He then shakes his head.]
I know you'd do the same thing for me, so it's okay. You don't owe me anything.
no subject
Hmph. Of course you'd say that.
[Another glance out over the hall as more gods start to pass by]
... Keep an eye out, ok? And pass the word on to Nagisa if you see him before me.
