It's too early for this to be a Christmas Miracle... [open-ish]
Who: Yukine and the people he knows. (And people he will soon know?)
What: Someone benefited from this unknownfruit phenomenon! Yukine is now TALLER!(And is totally not excited about it, can you tell.)
Besides being taller (180cm/5'9"), Yukine also looks a few years older. His voice sounds the same though, and he has the same slight build.
When: Afternoon of May 17, and up to May 20th.
Where: All over the place, Near and Far Shores.
Warnings: None
[One: Yato]
The day after working hard for the people of that small town, Yukine and Yato are back to working hard in another way. Cutting down ayakashi before they can harm humans. Averting disaster. Getting Yato closer to being a God of Fortune.
... Not that you'd know it to look at the guy. They'll work on that. Seriously, anything would be better than the track suit and ratty scarf.
On lunch break Yukine is probing the topic starting from "You've been around a while, right? What do you think 'bout kimonos?" When suddenly- he feels weird. He's trying to listen to Yato's answer, really he is, but his eyes look right through him, unfocus for a moment...
Blinking he rubs his hand across his eyes. He feels better in one way, but now there's a different problem-
"Geh- Wh-what the hell? Why is everything so tight?!" It hurts, actually. His pants are too short and too tight, his shirt is pinching at him, and his shoes feel way too small.
[Two: Bishamon and Kazuma]
Yukine is on his way toshow off visit the people he knows. And, well, ok- the fact that Yato was worried over what happened to him made him want to go to Bishamonten-sama's first, just to see if she knew anything from her experience.
(...But mostly to show off.)
Showing up in Bishamon's courtyard in a pink collared shirt and black pants (that are both a bit too large for him, but better that than too small), he catches the first shinki he sees to find out where the god and her exemplar are.
[Three: Everyone else! aka the choose your own adventure option]
There are some normally scheduled things, like tutoring. And some things that aren't scheduled, but an easy reason to visit, like sword practice or visiting cats.
Or perhaps you just happen across Yukine - even though he looks different, his name on his collarbone is still easy to spot. Not knowing how long this will last (forever, right!), he will be spending some time clothes shopping. Shirt to shoes, he needs a new wardrobe.
However he meets people, Yukine will be quite happy to pause and chat for a moment.
[[OOC: Prose or [bracket] formats ok!]

I really don't want to have to do that. Maybe it'll change back on its own.
no subject
It won’t.
[Yukine’s expression is frustrated and embarrassed as his mind catches up with what he so quickly said. Frowning he adds,]
I’m probably the only person who hopes that though.
no subject
Ren smiles and briefly waves a hand to say it's fine.]
I don't know, if it's affected enough people, I bet someone else got something they like too. anyway, things like this can be tricky; maybe we'll have to do something really specific to fix it and then you just don't have to do it.
[Guess who only has half an idea of what he's talking about. It's this guy.]
no subject
[Leaning down to rest his forearms against the back of the chair the cat is sleeping on, Yukine relaxes and smiles a little down at the cat.]
Well, at least these guys will probably think the same of us, no matter what happens.
no subject
Oh, he's fine now, but he wouldn't give me the time of day this morning.
no subject
I'm sure all was forgiven when breakfast came out.
But Suzugamori-sama, what are you doing asking a cat for the time, anyway?
[He knows it's just a saying, but it's a good one to tease the god over a little.]
i'm sorry for him
Why would I ask him for the time? I have clocks.
[Because that was definitely the point of that teasing, yep.]
rofl-
Just what kind of world are you from...?
Okay, playing the straight man for a second. He points down at the cat.]
You said that he wouldn't give you the time of day, so you must have asked him.
no subject
And thank goodness for Yukine clarifying things, because he would have gone on seeming clueless for ages otherwise. Instead, he blinks at the logic and then laughs a little.]
Oh, I guess you're right. But I don't have to ask; they come in an tell me when it's time for breakfast. Or when they think it's supposed to be time, anyway.
no subject
That sounds very cat-like.
[And he's glad that the guy kinda got the joke in the end. Kinda.
Finally looking up from the dozing cat long enough to take in his surroundings a bit more, he notices (or perhaps remembers) that Suzugamori-sama had been working on something when he'd come in.]
Anyway, I just dropped by to say hi and play with the cats for a bit. Sorry if I got you when you're busy.
no subject
[Never mind that he probably just came off a break ten minutes before Yukine came in. Nope, he'll just be putting aside the notebook and pen that was still in his lap with a cheery smile because he's going to cling to every opportunity to slack off that comes his way.]
Actually, I'm glad you came by. I have something I've been meaning to ask you.
no subject
Perking up attentively he nods.]
Sure. What's up? Shinki troubles again?
no subject
No, not today.
[Although he should probably mention at some point today...]
No, I was wondering if you could show me how to make a borderline.
no subject
But a borderline? Sure, I can show you how. But you know you can't do it yourself, right?
no subject
Even if I can't do it, I can still show my shinki what to do if they need it, right?
[please don't tell him this is also something shinki can only teach each other...]
no subject
You're right. I learned from Yato, myself.
Okay! Let's do it.
[Straightening, he holds up his hand and makes the halberd shape, index and middle finger extended, thumb at their side.]
It's pretty easy to explain. You make your hand into a shape like this. Then you have to think about making a line that will keep out what you want kept out.
Doing this is way easier against an ayakashi, by the way. They're repulsive and you'd naturally want something like that on the other side of a barrier from you, right?
And then, you draw the line.
Line!
[Although he doesn't need to say the word anymore, he says it for effect as he draws a line on the ground of the courtyard. A pale light springs up where his line was drawn.
He leaves it for a moment, then lets it go, turning back to Suzugamori-sama.]
Don't worry if they can't get it right away. The new shinki are pretty quick to pick it up, but it'll still take practice.
And that concludes the borderline lesson. Any questions?
no subject
To be honest, this is only the second or third time he's really seen one, and the first time he'd been too distracted to realize that was what it was until later...
As Yukine finishes, Ren takes a moment to practice forming his fingers the right way and slices them through the air in the same way. When he does finally answer the question, it's quiet and thoughtful and more directed at his own hand than at Yukine.]
...Hakkai-san said you can use those to repel anything you feel strongly about, not just ayakashi. Is that right?
no subject
[Semantics aside, he makes a faintly sour expression.]
You know, if some of the new shinki heard that they could use a borderline against other shinki or even gods, they might go off and be idiots about it.
But yah, you can draw a line against anything.
no subject
Mmm, we didn't talk about it for long, but he mentioned it.
[He smiles a little and presses a finger to his lips.]
I'll keep it a secret from the others. But it seems like it would be really helpful to know that in some situations.
no subject
I don't want anyone to get hurt from not knowing something that I should have taught them.
...But I don't want anyone to get hurt from something I did teach them, either.
[He frowns tightly at the memory of Yato being trapped by three shinki, and his being unable to reach him. If new shinki - if nora got it into their heads to catch gods out like that...]
no subject
You're a really conscientious person, Yukine-kun.
[He gives Yukine an extra-cute smile, but only briefly, and then he's back to looking like he is trying to treat this seriously.]
It's alright, I know how easy it is to start abusing a power just because you can. I'm not going to teach just anyone. Just my shinki.
no subject
…
...
By the way, what does ‘conscientious’ mean? Exactly. [Like, he gets it was a compliment (especially since that going-for-cute smile was thrown in), but of what?]
no subject
[Of course, one of his other specialties is basically the opposite of holding back but...that's not important right now.
He blinks a little at the question, and then has to hold back a laugh. Oops. It a little hard to compliment someone if they didn't understand it.]
It means you're very thoughtful and responsible, and you care a lot about how your actions might affect other people.
no subject
That much-? Mmm. I'll remember it then.
[And with his feelings all nicely jumbled up from that compliment, Yukine suddenly takes off to go further into the building.]
I'll go treat the cats now! And I'll check on the ducks too!
