Who: Hibari Kyoya and anyone who comes across him
What: Hibari has just come back from the dead, with memory of only one person. Someone has murdered him....
When: Late March 15th
Where: Ren's temple, the school, various scattered places
Warnings: Hibari. Possible mention of death

OOC:// Hibari right now is unstable and any thread with him, as always, can lead to violence

A-Open to All

Everything was new, and somewhere deep in his gut he knew it shouldn't be. There was one fragment of this place he remembered-a school. There was a school, it was important and he needed to get there because THAT MAN had made him the disciplinary head.

But that was the only thing he could remember. Not where he was, or where it was, or who even the rest of the people he saw pass him. His encounter with his god gave him a bad taste in his mouth-he was a mere weapon and tool!-but he had to rush.

The school might be in danger if he was dead. Because he couldn't remember how he died. Hakkai would be there, and he could tell him what happened.

Hibari was lucky he remembered his own name. The only logical conclusion came that this is the second time he had died, and he was paranoid. It could happen again.

The next person the shinki saw was getting roughly accosted by a rather wild-looking Hibari. "Where is the school. Where is it?!"

B-closed to Hakkai

It was fairly late at night by the time Hibari had found his way to the school. He'd originally thought it had been its own structure, but was displeased to find out it was actually another god's temple. Unfortunately, it made sense, because he remembered Hakkai. Hakkai was a shinki like him and why WOULDN'T he be in his god's temple.

The Cloud Guardian was graceful as ever as he climbed into a window on the side of the building and started rifling through the rooms for anything familiar, almost hoping that Hakkai would actually notice.

C-closed to Ren

He was dying. Hibari could see the blood flowing out along with his life and after the screaming pain ripped through him, he quickly went numb. And after that, the world quickly went dark.

He couldn't die, not right now, like this-

It had almost seemed like a moment later that Hibari opened his eyes, clueless as to just what he had been dreaming about. Was it a dream? He couldn't remember anything. The only thing was the taste of pain on his breath and the indisputible fact that his name was Hibari Kyouya and he was DEAD.

Hibari shot up from where he was laying-inside a strange room he'd never seen before. Had someone kidnapped him here? What was this joke? He needed to find a way out, because....that's right, the school! He remembered the school. One piece of memory seemed to be floating around from the depths of the darkness he had rose out of...

Ren, if he was awake, would surely feel the rising surge of anger and panic that Hibari's heart was producing. This was not right-he didn't know where he was. He didn't know WHAT he was. And he had just died. Again.

[Hakkai is normally a light sleeper, and might have heard even if he were already in bed. After today, though, he doubts sleep will find him. He's up, in the library making notes of everything he remembers about the chocolates -- form, manufacturer, box -- when he hears a rustle in another room. He looks up, eyes narrowing in the dim light of his desk lamp, and rises soundlessly to his feet to pad into the neighboring room.

Where he sees--]

-- Hibari? What are you doing?

No one's attacked. This is the school, Hibari. We only have a few students, so we hold classes here in the temple. Don't you....

[He trails off as he takes in Hibari's defensive posture, the confused aggression on his face.]

You don't remember?

You died?

[Hakkai's eyes go wide in shock. That they could die -- or be destroyed -- he'd known. That when they died, they would return again, and their memories would be degraded again -- that he didn't know.

Someone or something killed Hibari.

He swallows, a chill trickling through his veins.]

What happened?

You've spent time here. Perhaps it's just that.

[Hakkai stays very still, letting the emotion fade from his expression. It's partly because Hibari has already hit him today, and he doesn't feel like adding another matching bruise; it's mostly because the disquiet already seething in his heart is flashing over to anger, and he would rather not show it before he has a proper target.]

There were a large number of ayakashi released earlier today. You could have fallen in battle.

You said your god knew about your death?

[Had Ren's fighting skills left Hibari dead this time?]

I can get you a blanket and pillow.

[Hakkai crossed his arms as if against a chill. He'd been tricked into releasing dozens of ayakashi -- probably killing more humans than he'd been able to save. He'd fought, but he knew he hadn't even been able to save everyone who'd still been nearby when they ate the chocolate, much less those who went home first, or elsewhere.

And Hibari died, too, somewhere in that melee while he fought uselessly to save the mortals.]

Or would you prefer to talk?

For much of the day, Ren's own anger at being tricked into possibly hurting people and his frustration in trying to deal with any ayakashi he encountered on his own have done a good job of drowning out Hibari's emotions for once. It's hard to tell who's feeling so angry when they both are, after all.

By the time he's retreated by to his shrine for the day, though, they're shining through loud and clear again. They start coming to a peak right as he's finishing washing off the blight he received during the day, and he even lets himself feel a moment's frustration at the whole arrangement as he teleports himself back to their home in Takamagahara--

He's hardly even been there long enough to walk inside when it all just vanishes.

Ren staggers against the wall and clutches at his chest, as if clawing at it will fix the empty hole where Hibari was. Not just his emotions, but an awareness of Hibari in general that he didn't even realize he had is just gone, and it its place is a sense of loss that rushes over him like a flood.

He's gone, and Ren wasn't there to even try to do anything about it...

Then he blinks and Hibari's name--it was his name that was missing before, that was it--is back where it's supposed to be in the back of his mind, and his emotions are back too, fiery and pounding in his chest like always.

Well, not quite like always--he was used to the anger by now, but the way his heart was pounding, with a fear that Ren almost never felt either in himself or from Hibari--

It's almost too much for him right now, this losing him and getting him back almost immediately and the rush of emotions that came with that, but as much as he'd like to just sit down, he can't. If Hibari is feeling like that, then he's definitely in trouble and Ren can't just leave him.

...Of course, he still has no idea where Hibari is. But before he goes running around the other world looking for him, Ren pulls out his phone to try getting through to him there one more time. Hibari's name is still in the list, which is promising...

So this time, he tries sending Hibari a text with a subject line that says "WHERE ARE YOU???", so he'll see it whether he wants to immediately delete it or not.

If you don't remember, I'm sure you have questions.

[Hakkai waits, for now. It's still early enough in the year that nights are cold, and he can leave a blanket by Hibari later for the boy to use if the chill wakes him.]

Hope... didn't actually do well with being handled roughly like this, especially out of the blue. His reflexes and methods when getting grabbed like this came from being constantly attacked everywhere. His eyes went wide, and his instincts kicked in-- fight, then fly.

The young god kicked out and batted away the arms on him with all the strength he had-- not insubstantial, though he wasn't superhumanly strong-- before taking several steps back, ready to run... And then he took stock of the teenager who'd accosted him.

What the...

"What's going on?" His eyes looked wild. And when someone was already pretty rough to begin with... this was worrying.

No.

[He's going to find out, though. Hakkai leans in to glance at Hibari's name, and nods to him.]

It's your name. -- As a shinki, that is.

[He undoes the clasp at his collar and pulls the fabric of his shirt down just enough to show the character drawn in black across his collarbone.]

We all have one somewhere on our bodies.

It doesn't take long for Ren to realize that...Hibari isn't going to respond. There's definitely a moment as he stuffs his phone back in his pocket that he feels irritated about that--and the other handful of times that Hibari hasn't answered his phone--but he regrets it a moment later. Maybe he just can't? In which case, it isn't his fault and Ren really needs to find him...

Ren is just about to leave when he feels something hits his ankle, and he looks down to see Tenryuu trying to play with the hem of his pants. He smiles a little as he leans down to pick up the kitten, but he also decides to change his plans a little. Neither of them have been here for most of the day, and he might have to be out searching for a while after this, so since he's already here, he should probably check on the kittens first. Hibari would probably appreciate that, and his emotions have calmed down a little anyway.

Most of them are easy to find. Mouse comes wandering in from the courtyard about when Ren heads out there, probably looking for her friend, and Tama and Phantom are sleeping together in his usual seat, keeping it warm for him. Unsurprisingly, Kishi is going to be the hard one to find. Ren was pretty sure Hibari took him along when he left sometimes, since there had been times neither of them were in the house.

He didn't think Hibari took Kishi along today, though. He was pretty sure he'd seen Kishi with the others when he'd left this morning...

...And he's really running out of time to look. So he finally starts calling for the kitten too, while he starts heading upstairs to look there too. He didn't think any of the kittens knew their names yet, but he might at least come when he hears one of their voices.

It's weird to feel Hibari's emotions spiking again right after he starts making noise--at least until he hears Hibari yell, and then he's so relieved that he's here and he doesn't have to go searching for him that he completely misses that there might be a connection.

"Hibari?!"

Actually, given what he's yelling, Ren is more concerned that there's someone else in here with them, and if Hibari's actually afraid of them--

Ren dashes up the last of the stairs as quickly at he can without jostling Tenryuu too much and sets off in search of his shinki. Luckily he doesn't have to look much before he runs across Hibari...but there doesn't seem to be anyone else with him other than Kishi.

"Hibari? What's going on? Are you all right?"

Honestly, having Hibari throw punches at him is so expected by this point that he's watching for it, and he makes sure to dodge backward out of the way--mostly just so Hibari doesn't accidentally hit the kitten in his own arms. Who he's not going to be letting go of any time soon. Just in case.

And maybe because he's going to need something cute and comforting to hold onto, because what's coming out of Hibari's mouth and the way he's acting and his emotions are all so wrong and he can feel that dread and loss from earlier trying to crash over him again.

"...You don't know who I am...?"

You are. So am I. So is every shinki.

[Hakkai pulls his collar back up, securing it in place and neatening the edge with absent precision.]

Of course, that doesn't mean it's all we are. You, for instance, seem to be significantly better in a fight than your god is.
