Everything was new, and somewhere deep in his gut he knew it shouldn't be. There was one fragment of this place he remembered-a school. There was a school, it was important and he needed to get there because THAT MAN had made him the disciplinary head.
But that was the only thing he could remember. Not where he was, or where it was, or who even the rest of the people he saw pass him. His encounter with his god gave him a bad taste in his mouth-he was a mere weapon and tool!-but he had to rush.
The school might be in danger if he was dead. Because he couldn't remember how he died. Hakkai would be there, and he could tell him what happened.
Hibari was lucky he remembered his own name. The only logical conclusion came that this is the second time he had died, and he was paranoid. It could happen again.
The next person the shinki saw was getting roughly accosted by a rather wild-looking Hibari. "Where is the school. Where is it?!"
B-closed to Hakkai
It was fairly late at night by the time Hibari had found his way to the school. He'd originally thought it had been its own structure, but was displeased to find out it was actually another god's temple. Unfortunately, it made sense, because he remembered Hakkai. Hakkai was a shinki like him and why WOULDN'T he be in his god's temple.
The Cloud Guardian was graceful as ever as he climbed into a window on the side of the building and started rifling through the rooms for anything familiar, almost hoping that Hakkai would actually notice.
C-closed to Ren
He was dying. Hibari could see the blood flowing out along with his life and after the screaming pain ripped through him, he quickly went numb. And after that, the world quickly went dark.
He couldn't die, not right now, like this-
It had almost seemed like a moment later that Hibari opened his eyes, clueless as to just what he had been dreaming about. Was it a dream? He couldn't remember anything. The only thing was the taste of pain on his breath and the indisputible fact that his name was Hibari Kyouya and he was DEAD.
Hibari shot up from where he was laying-inside a strange room he'd never seen before. Had someone kidnapped him here? What was this joke? He needed to find a way out, because....that's right, the school! He remembered the school. One piece of memory seemed to be floating around from the depths of the darkness he had rose out of...
Ren, if he was awake, would surely feel the rising surge of anger and panic that Hibari's heart was producing. This was not right-he didn't know where he was. He didn't know WHAT he was. And he had just died. Again.

But why was he the only one in his memory?]
Where's the school? Did it get attacked?!

[He trails off as he takes in Hibari's defensive posture, the confused aggression on his face.]
You don't remember?

Again. I died again. And this is the only place I remember. This and you.
[The shinki pointed an accusing finger at the other man.]

[Hakkai's eyes go wide in shock. That they could die -- or be destroyed -- he'd known. That when they died, they would return again, and their memories would be degraded again -- that he didn't know.
Someone or something killed Hibari.
He swallows, a chill trickling through his veins.]

C for Cardfight
By the time he's retreated by to his shrine for the day, though, they're shining through loud and clear again. They start coming to a peak right as he's finishing washing off the blight he received during the day, and he even lets himself feel a moment's frustration at the whole arrangement as he teleports himself back to their home in Takamagahara--
He's hardly even been there long enough to walk inside when it all just vanishes.
Ren staggers against the wall and clutches at his chest, as if clawing at it will fix the empty hole where Hibari was. Not just his emotions, but an awareness of Hibari in general that he didn't even realize he had is just gone, and it its place is a sense of loss that rushes over him like a flood.
He's gone, and Ren wasn't there to even try to do anything about it...
Then he blinks and Hibari's name--it was his name that was missing before, that was it--is back where it's supposed to be in the back of his mind, and his emotions are back too, fiery and pounding in his chest like always.
Well, not quite like always--he was used to the anger by now, but the way his heart was pounding, with a fear that Ren almost never felt either in himself or from Hibari--
It's almost too much for him right now, this losing him and getting him back almost immediately and the rush of emotions that came with that, but as much as he'd like to just sit down, he can't. If Hibari is feeling like that, then he's definitely in trouble and Ren can't just leave him.
...Of course, he still has no idea where Hibari is. But before he goes running around the other world looking for him, Ren pulls out his phone to try getting through to him there one more time. Hibari's name is still in the list, which is promising...
So this time, he tries sending Hibari a text with a subject line that says "WHERE ARE YOU???", so he'll see it whether he wants to immediately delete it or not.
no subject
Looking at the screen for some clues of what was happening, all he saw was a text message from someone named Ren. Who was this? And how did they get his number?!
Hibari ignored it, tossing the phone down in the room, and exited. It looked like he was actually in a shrine, a completely unknown one, which did not help with Hibari's emotions at all. In fact, the text message had disturbed him-there was someone out there looking for him. For all he knew, it could be the person who killed him.
All he remembered was the school and Hakkai. This wasn't the place. He needed to get out!
As soon as the shinki was about to make a break for it, there was a meowing at his feet. Surprised, he looked down only to find a large tuxedo kitten rubbing against his legs. Kishi didn't care that Hibari had forgotten him.
"What are you doing here, little one? I suppose you don't have any answers." Hibari knelt down to pet the little cat. Who was the owner of this place?
no subject
Ren is just about to leave when he feels something hits his ankle, and he looks down to see Tenryuu trying to play with the hem of his pants. He smiles a little as he leans down to pick up the kitten, but he also decides to change his plans a little. Neither of them have been here for most of the day, and he might have to be out searching for a while after this, so since he's already here, he should probably check on the kittens first. Hibari would probably appreciate that, and his emotions have calmed down a little anyway.
Most of them are easy to find. Mouse comes wandering in from the courtyard about when Ren heads out there, probably looking for her friend, and Tama and Phantom are sleeping together in his usual seat, keeping it warm for him. Unsurprisingly, Kishi is going to be the hard one to find. Ren was pretty sure Hibari took him along when he left sometimes, since there had been times neither of them were in the house.
He didn't think Hibari took Kishi along today, though. He was pretty sure he'd seen Kishi with the others when he'd left this morning...
...And he's really running out of time to look. So he finally starts calling for the kitten too, while he starts heading upstairs to look there too. He didn't think any of the kittens knew their names yet, but he might at least come when he hears one of their voices.
no subject
"Do you know me, then?" He said quietly, as Kishi began to purr, reunited with his favorite human.
Everything was confusing and fear-inducing at every turn, not knowing where he was or what was going on-not even who killed him. But holding the kitten in his hands seemed to calm him down at least a little bit, as his trained ears heard the sound of another person coming up the stairs.
Hibari wasn't someone to run away, though his emotions started spiking as soon as he heard whoever it was coming. Kishi was held tighter in his arm as he shifted into a fighting stance.
"Who are you?!"
no subject
"Hibari?!"
Actually, given what he's yelling, Ren is more concerned that there's someone else in here with them, and if Hibari's actually afraid of them--
Ren dashes up the last of the stairs as quickly at he can without jostling Tenryuu too much and sets off in search of his shinki. Luckily he doesn't have to look much before he runs across Hibari...but there doesn't seem to be anyone else with him other than Kishi.
"Hibari? What's going on? Are you all right?"

The young god kicked out and batted away the arms on him with all the strength he had-- not insubstantial, though he wasn't superhumanly strong-- before taking several steps back, ready to run... And then he took stock of the teenager who'd accosted him.
What the...
"What's going on?" His eyes looked wild. And when someone was already pretty rough to begin with... this was worrying.
Re: a
At least this kid didn't look exactly dangerous or murderous, though Hibari was keeping his guard up, analyzing his every movement.

"The Near Shore has a lot of schools! The one in the Far Shore is over there!" And he pointed at the general direction of that school. The one he hadn't gone to yet, despite meaning to for a while. Hope couldn't help but yell at him in response to the rough handling he'd gotten earlier and the snarling he was getting now.
But part of him didn't think that this person needed to go to school-- he needed help.
no subject
"And I should believe you pointing in a vague direction? Next question. Have you killed anyone recently?" His hands tightened at the asking of that question.
no subject
"No. And I don't like that you're asking me about that." The corners of his lips tugged down as he stared up at the older teen.
"If I didn't want to fight you before, you can be sure that I don't want to kill anyone either."

Besides which...
"What do you mean, where is it?" He couldn't help but ask, even as he carefully tried to peel Hibari's hands from his shirt collar. Strange that he didn't detect this as an oncoming threat, but he supposed that must mean that the intent wasn't there. That struck him as strange too.
no subject
His priority was the school, but he wasn't above fighting someone to get the location out of them. "Are you deaf? I asked where the school was. If you don't answer me, I'll bite you to death!"
no subject
Though, that only left one option. "...Is it that you don't remember?" The words left his mouth reluctantly, hardly wanting to believe it. But it didn't seem like Hibari to ask a question he already knew the answer to. It'd be time wasted, when his priorities seemed rather clearly defined.
no subject
Like this kid obviously did. "I wouldn't ask if I didn't remember. Now give me an answer."
Hibari hooked a leg under Slaine's to send him to the ground, not letting go so he'd hopefully end up on top of him.
no subject
He could probably disable Hibari. Ways he could seem to spring to mind immediately, but that wasn't productive. Not to mention, he was convinced that Hibari would probably break himself to get the upper hand with someone if it got competitive.
Unfortunately Hibari still had a hold of his shirt which meant it got wrenched up at some awkward angle. Good thing Slaine wore layers...
"I suppose you couldn't tell me what happened to you, either..." He puffed out a sigh, glancing off to the side. "As you don't appear to remember me, my name is Slaine. We've met a few times before, last time involved some abandoned kittens, and you took in most of them."
He punctuated that statement with a short tug to his shirt. A prompt to let go. "I'll show you where the school is. I think some people there knew you, too."

"What the hell is wrong with you?! Get your hands off me!" he growled, his eyes flicking to black and taking on a threatening glow.
no subject
"Did you not hear my question? I asked where the school is. Unless that is, you want to die? I'll be happy to oblige."
Was this the person who murdered him? Hibari would be sorely disappointed if someone this weak could take him down.
no subject
He scowled, giving up on his attempts to struggle free (for now). It would be a bad idea to keep pushing this guy while he's at such a clear disadvantage. Also, all this shaking was starting to make him feel a bit nauseous again...
"I have no idea what you're talking about. Go harass someone else if you want directions."
no subject
Which was punch him in the face.
He did let go at this point, so the other shinki could fall to the ground, but with that, Hibari turned away, partly masking a soft mewing in his coat. "If you don't know anything, you're of no use to me."
no subject
A moment later, he realized he was now sprawled out on the ground. Also, his face hurt. A lot. He hissed, bring a hand up to his nose.
... Definitely bleeding. Probably broken. He made a disgusted face, trying to hold off the blood with a gloved hand with mild success. He didn't quite trust himself to get up off the ground yet.
"Do you normally assault people for no reason?" His brain was saying I should stop talking and let him leave, but his mouth kept moving anyway. He might be a little mad. "Is that how you get your kicks? Or is it only because you're frustrated at your own moronic inability to look up a damn map like an intelligent person?"
