Who: Sharak Sanzo, Kainé, Goten and possibly others.
What: Catch-all for various things at Aditi house.

Summary: Sharak may have temporarily fostered a child without asking, but it's cool. He's cute.

[On the evening of the 22nd, Sharak comes home with a seven-year-old monkey in her arms. Goten will be staying with them for however long he wants, probably until he picks a god he likes or until the powers that be assign him to someone else. Sharak considers offering a name from her but... Well, taking that kind of responsibility for a young child probably isn't a good idea in her situation.

Anyway, he's here. So is Kainé, and possibly other visitors. Hopefully they remember to call ahead if they do visit, otherwise they'll just be stuck outside the barrier surrounding the Temple of Aditi, waiting for someone to notice them.]

[Goten has been here for a night now and things have gone as smoothly as Sharak would have expected if she'd put any thought into this decision at all. But, apart from her usual bitching, Kainé has gradually gotten more and more... tense. The vibes Sharak has been getting over their connection are concerning and if she's learned anything from having Genjo Sanzo as a nora, it's that it's better to take care of these things quickly before everyone ends up blighted and terrified for no explicable reason.

Sharak isn't sure what she's done to upset her shinki this time, but with a kid in the temple this is no time to just let Kainé stew. When Goten's off doing whatever Goten does, Sharak puts a hand on the back of Kainé's neck and guides her into one of the rooms further inside the temple.]

All right, talk.

[If someone said Kainé was expecting to be pulled aside for her behavior, she would have told them to get their tongue out of that bull's ass because they're starting to say too much shit -- in an ideal world, of course. To be pulled aside in a way that made an escape awkward? She'd grudgingly accept that as a possibility to this unexpected scenario she's landed herself in. Grmnrmgrh...

Still, the prompting is ignored in favor of her apparent bad mood for a little longer as Kainé looks over her shoulder, grimaces, and drags Sharak even more out of the way. Finally, she takes a deep breath, averts her gaze again, and -- ]

Fucking shitfuck bastard god-fucking shit-hell-damn fuck.

[oh god it feels so good, she actually heaves a sigh of relief that turns into a sort of dizzy, giddy laugh.]

Crap... I don't know if I can fucking do this shit, Sharak.

[Man, whatever Kainé has to tell confide in her must be pretty serious if they're going this deep into the temple. The only other people who could possibly spy on them are Goten and the chickens after all. When they finally reach a safe spot, Sharak lets go of her shinki, folds her arms and wait.

... What the fuck did she just listen to?]

Do what? [Then, it clicks. So much of the tension Kainé was emitting earlier is gone. Sharak's face freezes in an attempt to keep it's straightness.] ... You're going through withdrawal?

[spare the chickens from having to hear this, also any respite from her tenseness is put to an end, whoops.]

"Withdrawal", I'm going to knock your ass into the fucking sun.

[DON'T EMBARRASS HER, SHE'S HAVING A ROUGH DAY]

Just -- do you know how many goddamn times I had to bite my fucking tongue? We did tongue twisters! Do you know how I like to spruce up the shit outta my tongue twisters? I add bullshit to the damn things.

[But this is the good kind of tenseness. The funny kind.]

If you're looking to replace an addiction, smoking works well.

[SMOKING IS WORSE, SHARAK]

That can't taste good. [Gross.] You were doing well though. You barely slipped once all morning.

Yeah, I really want to smell like that shit all the time -- bad enough I have to scrub the smell out of your goddamn robes.

Gee, thanks. Go suck a dick, seriously. Treat your oral fixation. I'm not doing this bullshit for my health, you know! I wouldn't piss out an ounce of care if the kid wasn't around.

[She's perfectly happy smelling like smoke. Scrubbing it out is probably futile anyway. But, ah, if they're going to talk about oral fixations she's going to have to light up a cigarette now. They've trigger her addiction.]

You probably don't have to worry too much about Goten. [Lighter clicks and flares up.] He'll learn the words eventually- though you should avoid threatening to tear his spine out through his ass or however you normally talk to adults.

[She grumbles instead of finding some way to properly quip back -- probably a lingering instinct from watching herself around Goten -- and eyes up that cigarette. It might seem like she's only judging Sharak for her habits for a moment, but then she offers out her hand and snaps her fingers in a wordless prompt. Her curiosity is starting to get the better of her around this damn woman.]

Hey, I only threaten people who deserve it. Or if I'm testing to see if they deserve it. Congratulations, you somehow squeaked by the screening process.

[Sharak pauses with her cigarette in her mouth to eye Kainé thoughtfully. Then she holds out the packet, jostling it so one cigarette sticks out for Kainé to grab. In the same hand is her lighter.]

Don't inhale on the first drag.

[In Sharak's defence, Kainé is supposed to be the moral center of this relationship.]

[She takes it, dancing it between her fingers before she sticks one end in her mouth and clicks the lighter on. Doesn't move to light it, yet.]

How the hell is that supposed to work? I thought that's all you do.

You'll want to get used to the taste first.

[After more than two weeks, Sharak thinks they'd know if Kainé was a smoker in life. Unless that's why she's been so tetchy.]

Pull on the cigarette, let the smoke sit in your mouth for a second and then exhale. The second time, you pull and then inhale again to get the smoke in your lungs.

[And then she demonstrates, because, even if Kainé isn't going to follow through on this, mama needs her nicotine fix.]

[Being temporarily homeless after Lightning left, Natsuru's spent a lot of her time lately visiting other temples. It kind of shows that she's been feeling a little lonely, which probably came across when she was expressing a lot of interest in seeing where Kainé lives. Finally, she asked if she could visit today, which... is what she's here to do.

She'd come straight from work, still wearing the admittedly kind of ridiculous (but cute) costume she wears. She could have gone back to Patchouli's temple to change, probably, but she was just really excited to go out and spend some time with another friend!

At the entrance to the temple, she hesitates, not sure what the proper etiquette is for arriving at this temple for a visit. She considers her options for a long moment, and finally settles on a light knock, before testing the door. If there's no lock, she peeks in but doesn't move to enter just yet.]

Hello? ... Kainé?

[Hopefully, she's told her god she had a visitor coming. She'd hate to get Kainé in trouble... or be in trouble with a god.]

[Ugh... Kainé briefly rolls her eyes, but then she's back to...actually paying attention... If she's going to do a stupid thing, she's at least going to do it right!!! She grimaces around the stick as she lights it for show, but it turns into something very real the moment she copies Sharak.]

Oh my god, that tastes like a shit. The hell is wrong with you?

[BUT WHATEVER, SHE'LL TRY AGAIN... nope still tastes gross, too much of a delicate flower for this. But hey, at least she's not choking on the smoke and having a coughing fit? Thanks for the demonstration.]

[Holding her cigarette up to her mouth is also a great way to hide her smile at all that. Kainé really is rather cute...]

It's probably a bad habit to get into anyway.

[Even with the knowledge that she was coming, after a bell heralds Natsuru's approach, Kainé takes care to suspiciously squint down the hill to ensure it was really her. It was kind of an extreme reaction, maybe a stupid rule, but it was in place for a reason, and Kainé wasn't going to take anything to granted. Satisfied, she returns to tossing a few things into a basket for the few minutes it'll take the girl.]

Hey, [comes the even reply from the other side of the temple, but even with the distance it isn't hard to make out. There's just...a lot of open space... She can even see Natsuru to give her a wave with the arm she isn't bracing the basket against her hip with, and then she cuts across the main room to meet up with her. She's not showing any sign of concern when it comes to having someone over. Sharak had been pushing her to do it for a while.]

...Huh. [A smile flickers in Kainé's eyes as she looks Natsuru up and down. Cute...] Sorry about the shitty walk up. None of the chickens made it worse than it had to be, right? Damn things act like they own the place.

[Nnnh, she can feel Sharak smiling, though, stop...!]

Great, so I really am the fucking role model while he's around. [At least watching the smoke is kind of relaxing.] Hopefully his god comes back soon to save him from the fact that we'll fuck it up.

[Stop being cute and she'll stop smiling. This was totally worth a wasted cigarette. Just one though, next time Kainé has to buy her own. Sharak breathes out a string of smoke that floats gently up to the ceiling. ]

The big sister role suits you. [Cursing aside. Goten seems to like Kainé well enough, and his opinion is the important one.] ... I doubt his god will be returning any time soon. That doesn't seem to be the pattern.

[Maybe in a month, when the smell is firmly linked to the idea of safety in her mind because of Sharak. For now, she's good.]

Like hell.

[She has zero faith in that... If anything, it was because of Goten being such a perfect little brother type. And all those others she was sistering at! All them. Totally.]

...Yeah. I know. [Thinking about it happening to her... Heh. Perfect match, huh? So where would she go from there?] This gonna become a habit? Taking in the strays?

[Sharak looks at Kainé quietly for a moment before answering. She's still planning on returning to India, she has no intention of making a life for herself here as Aditi but... Where does that leave Kainé? She doesn't want to vanish with no warning like Archie, but what does it matter if the end result is the same?

A thought for another time, perhaps.]

I could hardly leave him to sleep on the beach. [Maybe she's a big sister type too. She can't help it, okay?] But I don't plan on naming him, or anyone else.

[Genjo doesn't count. But if vanishing on Kainé is a concern, a kid like Goten is a hundred times worse.]

Wasn't a complaint.

[She doubts she would have been able to resist, if she'd been the one to see it.

Also, oh wow, she's gonna be pissed if she ever finds out about Genjo, now.]

But... He and I are alike. He wanted to fight. He'd have a hell of a time of it with you as his god. As long as he's safe where he ends up, I guess I figure he can't get out of here fast enough.

[They're disasters, Sharak.]

[Look, she already named Genjo. She's not naming anyone else from now on.]

Sometimes I think you have a very strange idea of what kind of person I am... [Sharak has been accused of a lot of things in her life, but "hesitant to fight" isn't one of them.] I agree this isn't the best place for him though. If he ends up somewhere shit we can go take care of it.

[Go break some kneecaps. Or just straight up kill whoever the god is. But, if Goten and Kainé are alike and Goten would be better somewhere else...]

... Do you think you would be happier with someone else too?

[Her eyes flash angrily at the question, and she leans down to put out the barely-started cigarette against her tall heel. Crushing it outright seemed extra wasteful.]

Don't be an ass. I'm plenty happy here.

[Happier than she's comfortable admitting, if her tone is any indication. Besides, Kainé was already a freak -- it wasn't like Sharak could ruin her.]

[It's not a secret until Kainé actually asks about it and Sharak lies.]

That's not what I said. [As usual when Kainé gets in this kind of mood, Sharak is infuriatingly calm and mature. That bitch.] You seem to think I'm against using you at all. That's not the case.

[The right occasion for twin saw blades just hasn't come up yet. The shinki thing is uncomfortable, but not enough to stop Sharak entirely. So long as it's what Kainé wants.]

However, if you- [there's the briefest of hesitations before Sharak continues, angry at herself for being annoyed at the suggestion she's about to put forward] ever want to move on to someone else, you can just tell me. If you want to nora for someone for whatever reason, that's your decision too.

[Yeah, she's punching hard into Sharak's arm.]

You got your head shoved so far up your own ass it's making you deaf, you old bat? I'm happy with you, whether you want to fight alone or have me by your side. I'm not gonna run off with some other god when I've found a home here, alright? You really think that little of me?

[SHE AIN'T A FAN OF NORAS, and maybe if she pushes it this way, Sharak will get it through her thick skull that Kainé likes being her loyal little weapon. Friend, even.]

[Sharak looks surprised at the punch and rubs her injured shoulder. It's the words more than the punch that get to her though. Those kinds of friendly verbal attacks are going to take some getting used to, but Sharak finds herself appreciating them still. And "happy with you", huh? ]

... Heh. [She closes her eyes for a second and when she opens them again, she's smirking.] Then by my side it is. I'll hold you to it, Kainé.

[An interesting girl for sure.]
