Summary: Sharak may have temporarily fostered a child without asking, but it's cool. He's cute.

[On the evening of the 22nd, Sharak comes home with a seven-year-old monkey in her arms. Goten will be staying with them for however long he wants, probably until he picks a god he likes or until the powers that be assign him to someone else. Sharak considers offering a name from her but... Well, taking that kind of responsibility for a young child probably isn't a good idea in her situation.

Anyway, he's here. So is Kainé, and possibly other visitors. Hopefully they remember to call ahead if they do visit, otherwise they'll just be stuck outside the barrier surrounding the Temple of Aditi, waiting for someone to notice them.]

[Goten has been here for a night now and things have gone as smoothly as Sharak would have expected if she'd put any thought into this decision at all. But, apart from her usual bitching, Kainé has gradually gotten more and more... tense. The vibes Sharak has been getting over their connection are concerning and if she's learned anything from having Genjo Sanzo as a nora, it's that it's better to take care of these things quickly before everyone ends up blighted and terrified for no explicable reason.

Sharak isn't sure what she's done to upset her shinki this time, but with a kid in the temple this is no time to just let Kainé stew. When Goten's off doing whatever Goten does, Sharak puts a hand on the back of Kainé's neck and guides her into one of the rooms further inside the temple.]

All right, talk.

[If someone said Kainé was expecting to be pulled aside for her behavior, she would have told them to get their tongue out of that bull's ass because they're starting to say too much shit -- in an ideal world, of course. To be pulled aside in a way that made an escape awkward? She'd grudgingly accept that as a possibility to this unexpected scenario she's landed herself in. Grmnrmgrh...

Still, the prompting is ignored in favor of her apparent bad mood for a little longer as Kainé looks over her shoulder, grimaces, and drags Sharak even more out of the way. Finally, she takes a deep breath, averts her gaze again, and -- ]

Fucking shitfuck bastard god-fucking shit-hell-damn fuck.

[oh god it feels so good, she actually heaves a sigh of relief that turns into a sort of dizzy, giddy laugh.]

Crap... I don't know if I can fucking do this shit, Sharak.

[Man, whatever Kainé has to tell confide in her must be pretty serious if they're going this deep into the temple. The only other people who could possibly spy on them are Goten and the chickens after all. When they finally reach a safe spot, Sharak lets go of her shinki, folds her arms and wait.

... What the fuck did she just listen to?]

Do what? [Then, it clicks. So much of the tension Kainé was emitting earlier is gone. Sharak's face freezes in an attempt to keep it's straightness.] ... You're going through withdrawal?

[spare the chickens from having to hear this, also any respite from her tenseness is put to an end, whoops.]

"Withdrawal", I'm going to knock your ass into the fucking sun.

[She's perfectly happy smelling like smoke. Scrubbing it out is probably futile anyway. But, ah, if they're going to talk about oral fixations she's going to have to light up a cigarette now. They've trigger her addiction.]

You probably don't have to worry too much about Goten. [Lighter clicks and flares up.] He'll learn the words eventually- though you should avoid threatening to tear his spine out through his ass or however you normally talk to adults.

[She grumbles instead of finding some way to properly quip back -- probably a lingering instinct from watching herself around Goten -- and eyes up that cigarette. It might seem like she's only judging Sharak for her habits for a moment, but then she offers out her hand and snaps her fingers in a wordless prompt. Her curiosity is starting to get the better of her around this damn woman.]

Hey, I only threaten people who deserve it. Or if I'm testing to see if they deserve it. Congratulations, you somehow squeaked by the screening process.

May 24th

[Being temporarily homeless after Lightning left, Natsuru's spent a lot of her time lately visiting other temples. It kind of shows that she's been feeling a little lonely, which probably came across when she was expressing a lot of interest in seeing where Kainé lives. Finally, she asked if she could visit today, which... is what she's here to do.

She'd come straight from work, still wearing the admittedly kind of ridiculous (but cute) costume she wears. She could have gone back to Patchouli's temple to change, probably, but she was just really excited to go out and spend some time with another friend!

At the entrance to the temple, she hesitates, not sure what the proper etiquette is for arriving at this temple for a visit. She considers her options for a long moment, and finally settles on a light knock, before testing the door. If there's no lock, she peeks in but doesn't move to enter just yet.]

Hello? ... Kainé?

[Hopefully, she's told her god she had a visitor coming. She'd hate to get Kainé in trouble... or be in trouble with a god.]

[Even with the knowledge that she was coming, after a bell heralds Natsuru's approach, Kainé takes care to suspiciously squint down the hill to ensure it was really her. It was kind of an extreme reaction, maybe a stupid rule, but it was in place for a reason, and Kainé wasn't going to take anything to granted. Satisfied, she returns to tossing a few things into a basket for the few minutes it'll take the girl.]

Hey, [comes the even reply from the other side of the temple, but even with the distance it isn't hard to make out. There's just...a lot of open space... She can even see Natsuru to give her a wave with the arm she isn't bracing the basket against her hip with, and then she cuts across the main room to meet up with her. She's not showing any sign of concern when it comes to having someone over. Sharak had been pushing her to do it for a while.]

...Huh. [A smile flickers in Kainé's eyes as she looks Natsuru up and down. Cute...] Sorry about the shitty walk up. None of the chickens made it worse than it had to be, right? Damn things act like they own the place.

[She notices that look, and her cheeks turn a little pink. She's still kind of self-conscious... but being around Kainé always makes her really want to work on that confidence thing. So instead of looking awkward and shy, she straightens up and stands as proudly as she can manage. It's not perfect, but she's making progress.]

It's okay! It wasn't that bad.

[She insists, a bright smile growing across her lips. It hasn't been a terrible walk, all things considered. Though, the chickens...]

Er... well, they did chase me around a little. But it's fine! I can run pretty fast, even in this.

[Ha. Thattagirl. She lets her smile show on her face a little to reward her.]

Hn. We keep 'em for the eggs. [She's also pretty sure Sharak thinks they're cute, but w/e. Not gonna bring that up when she's definitely given out some chicken hugs.] Sharak cooks with them sometimes, which is just about the only thing she's not fucking garbage-ass at!

[yes, she's yelling across the temple over her shoulder. anyway.]

...So listen, I'm not exactly a great hostess, or whatever.

[Even a small smile from Kainé feels warm and encouraging. It's enough to subconsciously make her feel like she's done something right, not giving in to awkwardness or embarrassment. And that confidence starts to feel more natural and effortless as a result, at least for the moment.

Besides, her attention is quickly taken over by how Kainé possibly gets away with speaking to her god like that. She flinches, but giggles a half-amused, half-nervous little giggle. They really must have an... interesting relationship.]

Well, I mostly wanted to see where you live! [She doesn't mind if Kainé's not particularly good with visitors. It'll work out, she's sure!] All the temples are so different...

[She lets her eyes wander over the temple now, and steps in a little further to really take in the main room.]

Is it all open like this?

[She shrugs, hefting the basket again and gesturing up.]

Pretty much. Just that center part doesn't have a roof, though.

[Speaking of which... She leans down to pluck up a blanket from the floor. Yeah, someone's clearly been sleeping there. It might be Kainé. Shh.]

I've only been to one other temple. Like this one better. Yours shitty that you're looking around, or what?

[A blanket doesn't seem too out of place among the cushions, at least. That's not suspicious at all. Clearly.

While still looking around, she halts mid-step. Kainé couldn't possibly know why that question struck her so hard.]

Actually... [Looking suddenly self-conscious again, she tucks a lock of hair over her ear and lets her gaze remain blankly fixed on the floor directly in front of her.] No, I liked mine! But...

[She takes a breath.]

I don't... live there anymore. It's gone. Lightning-sama left...

May 23rd - eveningish

[A night and a full day has given Goten more then enough time to explore just about everywhere Sharak's temple had to offer, twice. Like any child would be, he was curious and had to get into everything. Even that one room Sharak told him to avoid, he couldn't help but take a little peek.

The icing on the cake of staying with Sharak was finding out just who her shinki was. He had already met Kainé over the network but to meet her in person was so much better. He's delighted! Tongue twisters and everything. Kainé is amazing to him and he's been trailing around after her almost like a duckling. For whatever the reason, Goten has taken a liking to Kainé. Sharak is a cool god with weird but awesome standing-on-air powers and she's paired with a awesome tongue twisting shinki. What's not to be excited about having to new moms?

His whole stay just feels like a mini adventure. The weird part being that he just doesn't have that temple on the bench to go home to. It's been nice at Sharak's place, comfortable overall. He is grateful to them both for giving him somewhere to stay but as fun as it's been thus far there is the weight of finding another god. It's something Goten wouldn't worry too much about if he hadn't already met an awful one first hand. But for now, he's trying to not dwell on it too much and distract himself.

So today he's found a particularly large stink bug and somehow managed to cup it in his hands. His hold is secure but gentle seeing as the legs stick out from between his fingers since his hands are a bit small in compassion. The moment he spots one of them (or both) passing by, he's running over and opening his hands to show them. How he hasn't scared the bug is mystery.]

Look! Look! I found this outside. It's huge!

[Praise him because this is clearly something amazing.]

[Sharak kneels down obligingly to get a closer look at the bug. She examines it calmly and with the curiosity such an amazing discover clearly deserves!]

An anchor bug. That's very interesting, it's unusual to see one of that size. [Hmm, yes, very interesting. She tilts her head to look at it from another angles.] Especially around here. Well done.

[Goten's face lights up at that. He grins from ear to ear. Obviously he needs to find all the bugs around the temple and everywhere else and bring them to here to show her. Maybe dinosaurs lizards next time.]

Anchor bug?

[He blinks at it now, looking from her to his own hands. His head tilts this way and that before he looks back to Sharak.]

It doesn't look like an anchor. Does it live on them or something?

[Tell him more about bugs.]

[SHE WILL ADMIRE THEM ALL like the goddamn wilderness nerd she is.]

It's because of the markings.

[Sharak points out the black spots that that sort of form together to make an anchor on the bug's back.]

This is a predator species, which means it eats other insects. They can be useful to have around sometimes. Make sure you let it go where you found it before too long, okay?

The markings...

[He squints at it when she points to the black spots on the back. He has to twist his hand around a bit before he finally sees it. His eyes widen.]

I can see it! You're right, Sharak!

[Sharak is best to come to about bugs. Even after he leaves the temple to whatever god he finds, he's going to have to bring her more to look at.]

Okay! How do you know so much? Do you like to hunt for bugs and stuff too?

[That's hard to picture considering what she wears and everything. Goten himself, rarely changes out of his orange gi which is pretty dirty considering he's been digging around.]

[She's not like the other moms, she's a cool mom]

I used to, when I was younger. I think all kids go through that phase, when they collect insects, compare them and research their uses... [All kids absolutely do not go through that phase, Sharak.]

And it was useful to know later on, of course. Plenty of insects are poisonous while some are edible, so it's important to know the differences.

[Fun fact of the day: Sharak has absolutely eaten bugs before.]

[He blinks slowly, that's a lot more just finding an insect cool. He holds the bug closer up to her face, as if getting an even closer look will help give him answer]

Does that mean you've been bugs before? Is this guy edible?

[Not that Goten wants to but, food for thought!]

[Since Kainé doesn't know about Goten's little adventure around her private room -- which was sparse even compared to her regular bedroom and her nest in the main circular room, only containing a single soft pillow, a towel, a laundry basin, and some hygienic products -- she doesn't pull him by the ear once he's in range. Yay, sneaking around! Instead, she narrows her eyes at the beetle.]

Huh. That'd even look big if I held it. [Good job!!!] It's still alive, too. You must be good with them.

[Goten reaches out with his free hand to grab hers before trying to get the bug to crawl onto her hand.]

You should find some with me sometime. It's fun! I bet you'd be super good at it!

[He grins at her. Any game with Kainé would be fun!]

[Uh...sure... Good luck with that, buddy... Kainé won't pull her hand away or discourage the beetle in any way, but she's not the bug whisperer, here.]
