[open] If I could store lightning in jars
Who: Sora & OPEN
Where: The mysterious dark forest that appeared!
When: June 1
What: Bright "fireflies” have been luring gods and shinki alike deep into the forest. People are suddenly drawn to the little spots of light and can’t help but follow. There have been reports of screams and unhappy spirits and people never returning. All you know is that the sun doesn’t pierce the treetops and it’s dark.
Warnings: There's lots of creepy demons and stuff!!
[ A ]
[A sudden cold and heavy rain starts. Light and whimsical at first before it starts to pour down in thick sheets. Gray clouds blanket the sky and the sun is nearly blotted out. The atmosphere suddenly darkens and a chill is in the air.
Through the dark Sora notices some sparks of light somewhere near. They’re like candles flickering and dancing through the haze of the rain. A small smile pulls at his lips as he’s suddenly drawn to them like a moth to a flame. All he wants to do is reach out and touch one. They look like fairies.
You might notice Sora wandering through the rain, a blurry image of him slowly walking just out of your reach. Then he vanishes into the dark forest.]
[ B ]
[Perhaps it is you that got drawn into the bright dancing lights. Pulled into the woods as it makes your heart hammer. All you can focus on is the unseen force pulling your legs as you wander closer to the woods.
And suddenly everything is dark.
Sora manages to catch a glimpse of you before you vanish and he calls out.]
Hey!! Wait!! Don’t go in there!
[And promptly chases after you to stop you from falling deeper into darkness.]
[ C ]
[As soon as Sora enters the woods the rain stops. Or so it seems that way. He can still hear the thundering water in his ears but it sounds muted now. Like someone has put a blanket over the heavens and all he can hear is the thin thudding of the rain but no raindrops touch his face anymore.
He wanders through the woods as he looks up at the treetops to find that small beams of light do flicker through. Weakly, but they’re there. The gloom is still heavy.
His feet take him in a random direction until he spots a figure in the distance… Someone already lost here like him, or is that a tortured spirit...?]

But the kid's something unexpected and Urashima manages to find enough of his chill to try to wonder what the child is doing there. He definitely doesn't feel right but when it comes to the spirits of children, this could go one of a few ways and he isn't sure which way it could go. He tugs at Sora to get his attention and whispers to the boy, )
Ah...Are you a spirit?
( Or lost like them )
no subject
But how bad can a child spirit be? Maybe it's lost like them or just lonely or hungry for candy? It's just a kid.
A few fireflies float overhead.]
We're not here to hurt you. Are you lost like us?
[The spirit shifts slightly, shivering in some invisible breeze. It then points at the umbrella again and laughs, the voice coming out more male now.]
"... Umbrella... give me... my...."
no subject
Umbrella?
( Urashima's looking down at their feet. Is it just a normal umbrella? He's never heard of any spirits of boys who've lost their umbrellas but... it's careful, but he takes a step forward and kneels down to pick up the umbrella cautiously. )
Maybe if we help him, he'll help us.... ( Urashima whispers to Sora. He's heard about spirits like this, at least? He's still holding onto Sora's hand as he takes another step toward like... Sora, please don't leave him alone to give this ratty old thing to a suspcious ghost on his own. But he isn't exactly pulling Sora either, grip loosening as he holds out the umbrella to the bo. )
no subject
Sora squeezes Urashima's hand gently and nods in agreement. Don't worry he's not going anywhere because this place is messed up and he feels like if he lets go of Urashima's hand he'll somehow go up in smoke. He'd rather have a friend near.
He doesn't feel like this spirit is dangerous. He whispers back to Urashima,] If he tries to trick us, I'll be ready for it.
[The good thing about having a summoned weapon is he ability to whip it out in an instant.
He steps forward and gives the spirit boy a smile.] Here, take it, that's what you needed right? It's special.
no subject
He glances back at Sora briefly. He looks relieved, like he absolutely trusts Sora. If anything happens, he can count on Sora, right? And Urashima will do what he can to help too. Holding out the umbrella, he offers it to the boy. )
Here. You don't want to get a cold...
( Can spirits even get colds. )
no subject
"Thank you!"
Wuaa!!
[Sora inhales sharply and jerks Urashima back and brandishes his weapon. The keyblade blinks into his free grip and he holds it ready to strike. REFLEXES GO.
The little spirit giggles again and twirls on the spot as he opens the paper umbrella and lifts it over his head, twirling it.]
no subject
Then Sora's pulling him away, snapping him out of his shocked daze, )
Uwah!
( He stumbles backwards. AND THEN EVERYTHING HITS HIM. )
W-wait, Sora! ( Maybe he isn't bad? ) Maybe he'll leave now...!
no subject
Oh. It's just. giggling and playing with the umbrella.
Still doesn't stop it from being really, really creepy. But thanks to Urashima, Sora doesn't jump right into the fray.]
You think he will?
[The spirit giggles once more and then skips a few paces to the left and then back to the right.]
"Because of your kindness I'll show you the way out! ... But I have to ask one more thing. What is the prettiest thing you've ever seen? Something that made you so happy that you could lose your sight and remember it forever? ... And don't worry shinki-child, just tell me something you've seen from your life now. Something precious."
no subject
( Of course, sometimes their help is misguided or comes with a price but he's going to be optimistic-- UNTIL IT DECIDES TO GIVE HIM QUIZ. )
Ah... ( As soon as he asks, there's something that immediately comes to mind but he doesn't say it right away. He keeps his mouth tight in a straight line, as if wondering if it's really okay to answer. What if it's the wrong answer? What if this is a trick? He opens his mouth to speak and nothing comes out at first but then he finds his voice. It's nervous but honest, ) The... cherry blossoms...
( The ones he saw when he first arrived, before the fire. His very first memory in this life. )
no subject
"With the blush of the cherry blossom! The delicate scent! The bloom on the branch! You fell in love with life!"
[The little spirit starts laughing riotously, dancing and twirling the umbrella. He then stops and looks at them both, one eye closed.]
"And you... god-child?"
[Sora quickly glances between Urashima and the spirit. It seems the spirit was pretty happy with that little answer. Would this really help them escape? Sora smiles softly, remembering the one thing that he will always remember even it he lost his sight.]
The way Roxas looked when I told him I loved him and he said he loved me too.
[The spirit laughs loudly again, a mirror image of before.]
"One heart! Two Souls! True love is a durable fire, in the mind ever burning!"
[Then the spirit closes his other eye and closes the umbrella. He points to the east.]
no subject
Is that... really the way out? Can we just go straight?
no subject
Sora glances at Urashima and then to the east.]
Uh. You did say that spirits help people sometimes, right? I think this is the best bet we've got. I think it was a fair exchange?
[Where else could they go? He tugs on Urashima's hand gently to coax him in that direction.]
If that's all we run into in here, then maybe Roxas won't be too upset.
no subject
( He did say that and as he's tugged away, he bows his head some to the spirit, whispering a quiet thank you before he properly follows Sora. )
You think so? ( He feels like Terra will just be relieved he's okay but he isn't sure how Roxas will react at all. ) I think... as long as we're okay, he will be too.
( And out of curiousit, he glances back to see if the spirit is still there... )
no subject
Sora doesn't look and continues to the east with his heart hammering a little faster. He smiles at Urashima.]
I hope so!
[Best to stay optimistic. But he knows how Roxas will react when he finds out they were in a dark luring forest. It makes him feel anxious to get out.]
Are you doing okay, Urashima? We'll be out soon, I'm sure of it!
[For Terra and Roxas too, he'd make sure Urashima doesn't get hurt.]
no subject
Mm, I'm okay. ( Especially now that the worst of things appears to be over. ) What about you?
( Because for all of the concern, Sora is the one who wandered in without any recollection how or why. )
no subject
I'm okay too. I don't know how all this happened but I'm happy that we're okay. That's all that matters now.
[There's a sparkle that catches Sora eye in the next moment and Sora looks up. The sun is starting to peek easier through the treetops and the trees are starting to thin.]
Come on!
[And he tugs on Urashima, because he wants to run.]
