[open] If I could store lightning in jars
Who: Sora & OPEN
Where: The mysterious dark forest that appeared!
When: June 1
What: Bright "fireflies” have been luring gods and shinki alike deep into the forest. People are suddenly drawn to the little spots of light and can’t help but follow. There have been reports of screams and unhappy spirits and people never returning. All you know is that the sun doesn’t pierce the treetops and it’s dark.
Warnings: There's lots of creepy demons and stuff!!
[ A ]
[A sudden cold and heavy rain starts. Light and whimsical at first before it starts to pour down in thick sheets. Gray clouds blanket the sky and the sun is nearly blotted out. The atmosphere suddenly darkens and a chill is in the air.
Through the dark Sora notices some sparks of light somewhere near. They’re like candles flickering and dancing through the haze of the rain. A small smile pulls at his lips as he’s suddenly drawn to them like a moth to a flame. All he wants to do is reach out and touch one. They look like fairies.
You might notice Sora wandering through the rain, a blurry image of him slowly walking just out of your reach. Then he vanishes into the dark forest.]
[ B ]
[Perhaps it is you that got drawn into the bright dancing lights. Pulled into the woods as it makes your heart hammer. All you can focus on is the unseen force pulling your legs as you wander closer to the woods.
And suddenly everything is dark.
Sora manages to catch a glimpse of you before you vanish and he calls out.]
Hey!! Wait!! Don’t go in there!
[And promptly chases after you to stop you from falling deeper into darkness.]
[ C ]
[As soon as Sora enters the woods the rain stops. Or so it seems that way. He can still hear the thundering water in his ears but it sounds muted now. Like someone has put a blanket over the heavens and all he can hear is the thin thudding of the rain but no raindrops touch his face anymore.
He wanders through the woods as he looks up at the treetops to find that small beams of light do flicker through. Weakly, but they’re there. The gloom is still heavy.
His feet take him in a random direction until he spots a figure in the distance… Someone already lost here like him, or is that a tortured spirit...?]
[ wildcard! ]
[something else in mind?]

Oh, Sora...
[But she smiles after a brief huff.]
Thanks for telling me all gods can. I'm ready when you are.
[Yep, still holding hands.]
no subject
He squeezes hers in his and then teleports them towards the flickering light in the distance.
When they reappear they're right on the treeline between the trees and a large grassy field. The sun is sinking into the distance but it feels like the warmest sun he's ever felt.]
We're out! We did it! Holy wow!
no subject
[She gives him a wet hug.]
I'm gonna go ahead and change and head to bed. See you tomorrow, alright?
[But while she changes, Sora and Roxas end up chatting, and Roxas comes looking for her too...]
Later that night
... Sora? Are you awake?
[She kind of whispers it, not wanting to turn on the lights as she comes near the couch she thinks he's at.]
no subject
When he hears Kairi he sits up quickly. He tries to inhale a loud sniff he makes. He's not great at hiding that.]
Y-yeah. I'm here.
[He sounds tired and drained.]
no subject
I need to apologize.
[She lowers her head, hoping maybe he won't see that she's upset.]
You were right about worrying Roxas. I'm so, so sorry.
no subject
Did he check on you? You don't have to say sorry, it's not your fault. We were lured in there by mistake.
[He means it, though his tone is still low on energy. His whole body feels that way. He couldn't calm Roxas down at all.]
Did he seem at least a little better when he talked to you?
no subject
Oh my gosh-
[She puts her hands over her face.]
I didn't even think-
[He'd only told her that he saw Sora with wet clothes, that was it.]
He was more upset before?
no subject
Sora's been crying for a while, his eyes are red. It's dark so, so that's a good thing.]
Yeah... He... Didn't want to talk to me or touch me. I think I just made things worse.
[It was his fault, Sora thinks. Not Kairi's or Roxas'. He knew how places like that made Roxas feel and he stayed in there too long.]
Kairi, don't be sad. You didn't know how upset he would get, so don't blame yourself, okay?
no subject
Well, you didn't know either, right? You didn't go out there to make him worried. You went out there to bring me back.
[She's pretty sure that no matter what Sora 'knows' about Roxas, he wasn't the type of person who would have intentionally done something to hurt his own boyfriend.]
Isn't there anything I can do? If he won't even talk to you... that sounds really bad.
[Her biggest fear is finding out they're breaking up the next morning.]
no subject
I couldn't leave you there no matter what.
[That's the type of person he is. He knew Roxas would be upset but he couldn't leave his friends there to get hurt or worse.]
But he talked to you, right? If he did, then you already helped.
[He smiles a bit through his exhaustion.]
When we fight sometimes he just cuts me off, it's sort of what he does. But, it'll be okay once he calms down and I'll find him. I always do.
[This isn't the first time Sora's gotten "static" from Roxas.]
no subject
I guess so. We even talked about some other things, not just the forest.
[So that must be a good thing, right?]
Like, he suggested I hang out with Riku some, since you two are friends and I think he'd like to see your best friend smile more?
[She smiles and laughs a bit at the follow up.]
Apparently I'm good at that, since I got to hug Jakob.
no subject
Then you really helped him calm down. That means a lot.
[He smiles at her and squeezes her gently. She did something Sora couldn't. That means the world to him. He's glad Kairi and Roxas are so close. Though... a small part of him wishes Roxas had opened up to him, but he's not resentful about it.]
He's right, I think you're the right person for the job. Riku and me are kind of not getting along right now because he doesn't like me with Roxas. He's sort of over protective.
[Sora huffs and laughs too.]
You are, Kairi. Probably the best at cheering people up.
no subject
[She sighs, both relief and fondness there.]
So maybe things will be better tomorrow. Except for the Riku part - sounds like a major big brother type. I'll try catching him around too. Who knows.
[Anyway, Sora gets a hug.]
I'll head to bed and let you get some rest.
[Sleep a few things off.]
no subject
[Sora can't resist the urge to roll his eyes dramatically when she calls him the big brother type. Her accuracy there makes him wanna sigh loudly. Major big brother type complex for sure.
He hugs her back and nods. He's feeling a little better now too just being able to talk with her for a little while. Maybe he'll be able to sleep a few hours now.]
Okay, Kairi. See you in the morning.
