Who: Hazel and various/open.
Where: Temple of Team Hot Stuff, Park.

What: Hazel talks about stuff and gets a shinki. She does kid stuff.
Warnings: tba, possibly child abuse, fantasy racism??

[It's been a few days since Hazel arrived, and while she's been content to return to her temple, it gets...pretty boring there, when you're all on your own. And kinda lonely. Luckily, Hazel's wormed her way into a couple of hearts, and is more than willing to take advantage of that fact to score some free cereal and company. Hello friends, here she be, kicking her legs back and forth in a careless manner and shoveling sugar into her mouth.

...But it's possible that there are a few things weighing on her mind, too, with the way she glances furtively through her bangs when approached. Just maybe.]

[let's go fly a kite. - open.]

[She'd been delighted at first, when she stumbled upon the simple, lush park. It seemed like forever since she'd been to a playground -- a proper one, not the weird play areas that had been in the detention center or the destroyed structures she would climb on with Kurti. She scrambled up the slide immediately, letting out a whoop of laughter as she slid back down and jumped forward when she reached the edge, then she rushed over to the swings to stand on one and get as high as possible.

It was a little less fun when she realized that the other kids around her weren't paying her any mind, since it meant the sandcastle she'd been perfecting was crushed beneath some dumb boy's feet. Not maliciously, or anything. She could tell he was just going around, unaware of her and her hard work, but... Man. It takes a lot of effort to not push him down instead of just glaring at him.

Now Hazel sits on the swings again, arms looped loosely around the chains, and she toes the sand with her shoe. This sucks!!!!]

[Goten blinks at her slowly, not really understanding what she's implying but it doesn't stop him from pushing her again when she comes swinging back. But he offers a smile. She's kind of weird....and it's not the horns making her seem that way either.]

Yeah, you're kinda hard to miss over here by yourself...

[This time, she's not so dazed as to not pump her legs along with the motion to help propel her forward and back. Looking at him while she does that is surprisingly hard, though, so...uh... Back to looking out ahead of herself.]

No one else thinks so. They act like I'm not even here.

[He perks a bit, she is geting the hand of it. So maybe she really does know how to swing, great! Goten wouldn't know where to begin on teaching that. But since she does get it, he does put a little more power into his pushes. Nothing extreme, but enough to get her going high before taking a few steps back and to the side. He got her going so she can keep it up if she wants since apparently she's able to.]

Everyone here is like that.

[Goten says it so casually. It is common knowledge though it does suck experiencing it first hand. It really takes a few seconds for her words to catch up to his brain. Goten gapes a bit, pointing at himself. He hasn't met another kid before!]

Wait! Hey, hey! You're not from here then right? You're like me?

[The horns weren't enough of a give away]

[At his exclamation, Hazel drags her feet down again to bring herself to a stop. Like him, huh?]

I'm from really far away.

[like another galaxy]

But then someone brought me here, and um. [this part sounds real stupid] Made me a god, which is okay, but so far it's really boring! I don't feel important at all.

[Oooooooooooh!

So like him but not really. Still, close enough. At least they could notice each other. He raises his hand to rub the back of his neck.]

There are lots of gods so you're not alone there. Gods gotta do prayers and stuff like that to keep people thinking of them. Or something. Maybe you'll feel more important then. I never really asked much about it....

[He gives a lazy shrug before flashing her a big grin. This just shows anyone can be a god too! Or she could just look really young. Goten is hoping on the former though.]

I didn't think a kid could be a god! That makes you really cool! The only other kids around my age have been shinki like me, but they're almost double my age.

[Dumb Killua and his dumb remarks.]

[Hrmn. Prayer business... Hazel huffs grumpily, blowing her hair away from her face.]

Duh, of course I can be a god. Why couldn't I? [Though honestly, she'd probably assume the same, if their roles had been reversed. Sucks that children were as much of a rarity here as they were back home, if this kid could be believed. This...dead kid. Hmn. That's a bummer.] I can't really do a ton of prayers, though. Not exciting ones, anyway. They didn't even give me a shinki. Like they don't want me to do god stuff, but then why wouldn't they send me back to my mom and dad?

I donno but you're the smallest god I've ever met.

[He giggles, teasing. Sorry Hazel, but it's true. He's use to gods like Archie, Sharak, Tsuzuki and list went on. They were all old and tall, but then again when you're only four feet tall, the whole world seems pretty big. Except this goddess.

But it's hearing her go on that makes him blink and tilt his head to the side.]

So find a shinki to team up with. I don't think it'd be that hard. I didn't get to do many prayers even when I did have a god cause he said I was too little to fight. But since you're a god, you're sorta the boss so you don't have to worry about that. You should be happy.

[Except from maybe other gods, but who would really stop her?]

[wow...what a stupid, rude boy.

But the stupid, rude boy was also saying stuff that wasn't so stupid. Hazel straightens up, then swings one leg over to the other side so she can watch Goten more effectively.]

Yeah! But I can't just find a shinki, I want a real good one! So we can be a team. It's gotta be the right one. Your god doesn't sound like the right --

[wait a minute]

When you had a god? You're all alone...?

I'm not alone but I don't have a god since Archie disappeared. Him and whole temple was gone when I woke up. It happened awhile ago.

[He's still bummed about it but after a week or so, he's come to accept that maybe Archie went back home. A lot of the other gods and shinki have tried to push that logic to him and he wants to believe them. It's been fun with Sharak and Kainé anyway.

But he takes a few steps closer to her, blinking several times.]

What makes a really good shinki to you?

Scary...

[But that does kind of give her hope. Maybe she'll wake up back with her mom and dad some day. Or at least with Granny.]

Um! [She frowns at the chain in front of her while she thinks how best to put it.] Well, Jae-Ha and big Hazel trust each other a whole lot, and they fight together even when they're not fighting the same thing. I want someone I can rely on and who knows they can rely on me, too, even though I'm just a kid, because I'm not a dumb baby or anything. I can help! And if I have a shinki, I can help more, so... So someone who wants to do that. I guess.

[Goten perks at the mention of Jae-ha though 'Big Hazel' is lost to him. He knows Jae-ha though! No way could he forget the most amazing jumper ever. But he stays quiet for a second, listening. He agrees with what she says. Goten has been around for a little while and he's already gotten plenty of the 'just a kid' treatment. So he can't help but chip in with his own:]

I wanna do that! I never got to fight with Archie cause I'm a kid even-though I'm strong and can fly and stuff. It wasn't far but a lot of the adults here are like that.

[Goten steps closer, giving her a big boyish grin]

Lets help each other and everyone else!

[Other Hazel isn't exactly big either, so it's confusing for everyone.]

Huh?

[She looks over to him again, eyes a little wide. That was...good to hear in multiple ways! He's strong and wants to help! He didn't have a god right now!

...He could fly but he wasn't looking at her horns and thinking she was walking scum. She leans a little to the side, trying to see what the heck kinda wings he has that she didn't spot them right away but he could still fly. Hrmn... Maybe he kept them bound, too? She'd have to investigate this more.

For now, Hazel will draw herself up a little taller and put on an important voice.]

Okay, but you gotta win an arm wrestle with me first to prove you're actually strong.

Alright! Yeah!

[Goten's eyes practically light up at that, he bounces up and down, fists pumping the air. It takes him a few seconds but he eventually settles down enough to stick to the ground and nod his head way more then necessary. Eventhough he doesn't know Hazel, they have similar goals and she wants to arm wrestle? She's not even his god and she's already making her way up the awesome list. He's way too eager and excited.

Grinning from ear to ear he jogs over and reaches out to take her hand and gives a gentle tug. He points over to a nearby picnic table with his free hand.]

Deal! C'mon! Don't think I'll go easy on you either!

[hell yeah hell yeah!!! His excitement is infectious, and Hazel's quick to scramble off the swing and follow his lead.]

Now you really better not lose.

[CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW EMBARRASSING THAT WOULD BE

anyway, she props her arm up and has a serious glint in her eye. Let's do this, bruh.]

Ready...steady...GO!

[The second they make it to the table, Goten jumps onto the wooden seat and props his arm up across from hers. He grabs her hand and holds it tightly as he meets her gaze. His own determination matching that glint. It's on!]

No way are you gonna beat me!

[At the 'Go' he tries to push her hand down. He doesn't know how strong Hazel is but he's putting a lot of force into it from the get go which...is a good amount considering he can toss around cars with ease.]

[yeah nah she gets fuckin rekt]

Woah!

[like that kINDA HURT YIKES]

That's so cool! I bet you're even stronger than Granny! [And Granny always won arm wrestling contests -- except against Hazel's Mom, but she was a newborn at the time and has no clue about that.] Didn't your last god know you were that strong?

[He blinks a bit. Huh. That wasn't hard. Whoops! He lets go of her hand slowly, maybe he should have held back a little more---but he didn't want to loose! He didn't know how strong she was after all!

Goten laughs sheepishly, reaching a hand behind his head as he rubs the back of his neck]

Archie? Mmmhm! I spent a lot of time on the beach breaking boulders and stuff. I carried him a few times through the air too and I told him about sparring with Jae-ha but I don't think any of that mattered cause I'm a kid.

[He still doesn't get it, even now. No matter how much power he showed off, somehow his age was always so much more important. If it wasn't for everyone else jumping into to reassure him that it's almost 'normal' for gods and their temples to go missing, Goten would have thought something happened to him]

I wanna hurry up and be a grown up, then no one will tell me anything, you know?

[But that's the good thing about Hazel, she's similar to him! They maybe small, but they can still do stuff together!]

Oh! My name's Goten!

That's so stupid. Adults think they're smarter all the time, but then they do stupid stuff like that.

[This is seriously perfect... Maybe this is really another fateful meeting, like it had been with Jae-Ha and big Hazel. Except with less kissing.]

But I have to give you another one, right? Like a name to go with Yue Lao, which is my god name. But I'm Hazel!

[Forever less kissing please. That's gross.

But he is excited.]

Uh, yeah. A shinki name or something. I had a name before, it was on my right hand but Archie never used it so I donno what I was gonna turn into.

[But with Hazel, hopefully that will change. They're both kids! Kids that want to do stuff and forget the rules or adults trying to keep them back]

Do you go Yue Lao or Hazel? Some gods like their new names better

[yeah, it's pretty gross. especially since Hazel totally kissed a furry, ew rodent people germs.]

Pfft. That's dumb. I like Hazel. My parents gave it to me because of a lady that showed my mom really nice books. And the other Hazel's nice, too, so it's a really good name!

[Also she has hazel eyes which has apparently never been a thing in Sagaverse???? It's weird.]

I didn't get to pick Yue Lao, but since we get to make up your name, is there something you want? Like, a really cool name? Did you like the one you had before or do you want a new one?

I think....The one I had before....was Iki?

[Archie never really called him it so it takes him a second to remember. He really has to think about it too before he looks back to Hazel, resting his chin on the table.]

I don't really care about the name. I'm Goten and that's what you should call me too inless you want me to turn into...whatever it is to fight ayakashi with you.

[He can't really help with much there. But that second name doesn't really matter to him. It matters about as much as Yue Lao does to Hazel.]

[Hazel folds her arms in front of her so she can lean in while she thinks.]

I guess a short name is better. If you had a really long name, someone could get hurt before we're ready! Maybe something about flying, since you can do that? Or about how you're real strong! [She giggles a little to herself as another thought occurs to her.] Or maybe something about being big, or grown up, since everyone says we're not.

I don't think i'd even remember it if you made it super long.

[If that matters? Goten really isn't sure about the whole name thing at all. It's pretty new to him despite already working under a god before. He wishes he could guide Hazel a bit better with it but...]

All those sound good to me. We'll show everyone that we can fight just as good as they can!

[ That's the part he's so ready for! He can't help but grin a bit, kicking his feet in delight]

[This is some serious responsibility stuff... Though she supposes that if they really wanted to, they could just erase this name and go through the process again? Maybe that would get him some extra sick powers, too. She wonders if it's possible to give two names to the same shinki... Like, not in a nora way. Gross.

But anyway, business.]

Okay. I'm gonna go wiiiith... Souki!

Sounds good to me.

[Any name really does since it's not really his name. Just his shinki name. Souki doesn't sound to bad either. He can remember that. Giving another small nod, he blinks at her curiously.]
