[There wasn't much to do during the day. The day wasn't too hot, not like Koriko had been the first June he'd been there, so it was comfortable to run around and do some errands in. Or errand. There was only one thing Roxas wanted: ice cream.

The best place to get it was a shop he'd run across on his quest for sea salt ice cream. What he'd found was a treasure trove. Why were there so many flavors? Not that he was one to complain. Ice cream was amazing. He's already tried half of the flavors there and today was going to be hunt for something new.

After some browsing he's found one he hasn't tried before, reaching for the box. Except he's not the only one reaching for it. He blinks and withdraws his hand after the bump, smiling apologetically.]

Sorry! Didn't see you there...

[Since days were getting warmer and Yuto had nothing better to do, buying some ice cream seemed like a good idea. That's how he's found himself in this shop. Maybe he could take some ice cream for Hajime, too? He's thinking about this while browsing, then he reaches to take the box that catches his attention. And his hand collides with Roxas'.

Yuto withdraws his hand and looks at the other.]

It's you...

[They meet again, huh.

Yuto shakes his head.]

Don't apologize. [He takes the box of the ice cream and hands it to Roxas.] Here. It seems it's the last one with this flavor...

[Roxas is genuinely surprised to see Yuto again, especially so soon. They never seemed to meet under good circumstances.]

Yuto?

[He looks at the box after it was handed to him, trying not to frown. An idea crosses his mind and he turns his attention to Yuto.] I don't mind sharing. It's not like I told Sora I was getting ice cream, so he can't get mad at me for not saving him some.

[That's as good a reason as any.]

You know Sora?

[Well, that's news to him.

He looks at the box for a moment, then back at Roxas.]

Are you sure about this? I can just get something else.

[missingache]

Yeah, I've known him for a long time.

[He's probably smiling like an idiot again, but it's hard not to when it comes to Sora.]

I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't.

[darkduelist]

[Yuto completely misses the meaning behind Roxas' smile.]

I see. He's a good person and a good friend.

[That's what it is, right.

Okay, but back to the topic of the ice cream. Yuto takes another moment to think about it, but eventually nods in agreement.]

Alright then.

[missingache]

He's an idiot. [....] And those other things.

[If anyone else called Sora an idiot, Roxas would take them down.

Yuto sure was taking his time... was he always this serious about decision making? Part of him wonders if Yuto was capable of smiling and being relaxed.]

Then let me go pay for it real fast. Wait for me outside?

I wouldn't call him an idiot.

[He may be frowning a little when he says that, but not for long.

But he nods. He'll wait, no problem. And without another word he leaves the shop.]

Then try knowing him as long as I have.

[Riku will call Sora an idiot, too.

Yuto doesn't have to wait long for the other. Even if Sora wasn't getting ice cream, Roxas has a habit of getting him something anyways.]

Sorry. Found things Sora and my shinki might like. Do you wanna walk or go sit somewhere?

[Yuto doesn't mind waiting. When Roxas appears in his sight, Yuto shakes his head.]

It's okay. I wasn't waiting for long anyway.

[But when it comes to the ice cream...]

...Maybe we could sit somewhere.

[Roxas just figures Yuto is being polite about having to wait.

He nods and looks around.] There's a park nearby. Let's go there.

[Eating ice cream in a park is one of the best things in the world. So off he goes, which should be a cue for Yuto to follow.]

[A park sounds great to Yuto (sitting in a quiet park is one of his favorite things to do), so he follows.

When they find a bench, Yuto will just stand there until Roxas sits down. And then he asks:]

So how much do I owe you for the ice cream?

[Well, he has to pay Roxas back for his half.]

[... super polite. Roxas sits down, feeling a little awkward about this. Was it a respect thing because he'd rather have Yuto not have to feel the need to be like this around him.

He takes the box out of the bag as Yuto speaks.]

Huh? You don't owe me anything.

[darkduelist]

[...Well, that won't do. Yuto frowns.]

You paid for it, so I need to pay you back half of the price.

[This is how it works.]

[missingache]

Says who?

[Really. He's not going to let you pay at all. Keep pushing and Roxas will keep saying no.]

[darkduelist]

[...Yuto blinks.]

Says me.

[Well, yeah.]

I can't just eat half of it for free. It doesn't feel right.

[missingache]

We're sharing, so you don't need to.

[Roxas hands one of the packages from the box to Yuto.]

I wouldn't ask a friend to pay me back.

[darkduelist]

But we're... not exactly friends, right?

[Yuto would say they're... acquaintances? Friends of a friend?

But knowing that this is not a fight he can win, Yuto takes the package from Roxas.]

[missingache]

We fought together, so that's that.

[Going to take a page from Sora's book on that one. Besides, the more they talk, the more the ice cream melts. That's a bad thing.]

Plus, Sora likes you, so that's good enough for me.

[Time to eat now.]

[darkduelist]

...If you say so.

[But even after taking the package and accepting Roxas' generosity, Yuto still doesn't eat his ice cream. It really will melt at this rate.]

...Were you okay after we split up?

[And yes, he's going back to that battlefield. It's not like he doubts that Roxas could deal with those floats, no. He's just... curious? Or maybe he's just trying to find a good topic for the conversation.

And of course he's failing at this.]

[Roxas stops between bits, thinking about that question.]

I don't know if it happened to you, but some people... I saw one of my friends. She shouldn't have been here, not like that. So, I guess not?

[He really doesn't like to lie.]

I had help from Sora.

[darkduelist]

[Hearing that Yuto frowns deeply to himself. He thinks he knows what the other means, because he's heard something similar from one more person.]

No... nothing like that happened to me.

[He then looks at Roxas, concern evident in his eyes.]

It's good to hear Sora was there to help you.

[missingache]

[It was far from fun, and now Roxas just misses his friend even more. He just wants to know she's okay. Please, if Aki ever comes here, let her be a god. Her being a shinki would tear his heart out.]

There was so much going on I don't know how he even found me... the entire area was a complete mess. I've been around spirits, ghosts, monsters, but the undead? That was way different. They weren't like the zombies you read about or watch in movies.

[But just about as messy.]

[Yuto is silent for a few moments, before whispering a small:]

I'm sorry.

[He isn't sure what else to say now.]

[Roxas blinks, looking at Yuto with confusion.]

What're you saying sorry for?

[Unless Yuto is a secret necromancer, why would he need to apologize?]

[Considering that his entire deck is filled with ghost-knights--er, no.]
