[OPEN] Near Shore: Grisly Kabuki Show
[A long time ago, okay two weeks ago, someone had anonymously suggested to Schuldig that he go to see a kabuki show. Not just any kabuki show, though - Yotsuya Kaidan, the Ghost Story of Yotsuya - on the promise that there was 'plenty of grisly revenge for you there.'
Now that he's being subtly encouraged to get out and about more, he's planning to see it. If you see him on his second or third watch, he might even be outside of the theater conning scalpers out of their own money - a deal that's not a deal sort of thing where he buys 7 at the cost of 10 - so that he can give them to people waiting in line.]
[OPEN] Near Shore: Beach Bum
[Schuldig's pale skin is getting tanned and those sunglasses he's normally only wearing like decoration are actually getting use, finally. Feel free to notice him lounging or trying to chat up the lifeguards.
Then there's the matter of trying to be a good-hearted God of Mischief down here. If he notices that there are people haggling down 'tourist' prices from the locals, he uses his telepathy to calm both parties down. If he sees kids playing pranks, he'll help them not get noticed by parents or authority figures as they run off. That sort of thing.]
[OPEN] Near Shore: Ayakashi
[If you've wandered near that fishy ayakashi and gotten yourself trapped, he'll definitely notice, or try to keep you away from it if he notices you wandering too close. He can hear the thoughts of ayakashi getting closer - the raw, tangled mess of raw emotions that is - as well as those of gods and shinki without strong mental shields.
If you actually do manage to get yourself trapped, he'll have to call a shinki to get you out of there, but he might still do it. Depending on who it is and depending on if you got yourself trapped so that one of his followers didn't get caught.]
[OPEN] Near Shore: Fireworks
[Trying to get a better spot to watch? Schuldig might use his telepathy to convince some noisy neighbors on a blanket to take their drinking elsewhere so you can have that one. Or he might be able to get a crying baby to fall asleep. The line for drinks & food could be a lot shorter as soon as he decides to go there, standing behind you in line. If you're trying to get an adult beverage and you're not an adult, he has no problem getting you one. Drinking customs in Europe are different, so he doesn't care.]
[OPEN] Far Shore: Anywhere But His Temple
[Even while very empathetic towards the human race now - specifically his followers - Schuldig doesn't plan to invite people out to his temple. As a result, he's out wandering. Specifically, he's combing the place for one of Amaterasu's lackeys somewhere down the chain of command with low enough mental shields that he can read their minds. It's a promise he owes Jae-Ha, actually.
As a result, Schuldig could be found just about anywhere standing off to the side with a thousand-yard-stare as he canvasses small sections of the Far Shore for just such a lackey.]

Rend it...R-right.
[He's not that similar with the word but he knows what it means from speaking with Yukine. He nods to that. It's not as though Goten could walk away from an ayakashi causing trouble and hurting people anyway.
The light between them becoming noticeably bright and surroundings darker makes Goten blink before he glances back to Schuldig looking more confused then upset now.]
How'd you do that..
no subject
[Without waiting for Goten to fully absorb that description, he begins the process of Naming him, so that the boy either commits to being Named or flees on the spot, be done with it.
The words he has to say feel different now - like without their past issues, regrettable in his current mood but necessary, they might have worked well together. The sarcasm and spite he normally conveys with the naming isn't there. He can't change the phrasing without risking the Naming process going wrong, but this is the first time he doesn't particularly want to. It's a rote memorization he can rattle off now. He holds onto the spiral of colors a bit longer than strictly required, to give Goten time to back or get completely committed. Flecks of yellow and orange light appear around them as Schuldig speaks]
[His eyes glow brighter blue than they already are.]
[That's when, instead of random swirls, Schuldig starts to draw the character between himself and Goten then, twice as big as Goten himself. It shines bright orange and yellow as Schuldig paints it in midair.]
[He waits as the bright blue light engulfs Goten - a mental note telling him that he'd nickname the kid Chokuri or Chokery if this were to last longer - and pulls the spell colors in the general direction of his outstretched hand, wondering what the boy's vessel will be.
no subject
But before he can press for more about how Rend works, Schuldig is already starting. Goten can't keep his eyes from wandering around, looking at the lighting and various colors swirling around them. Every half second he does keep glancing back to the god nervously. As much as he wants to fly from the spot, he grounds himself, pressing his feet firmly against the concrete. He's on a mission, one that will hopefully end with Sousuke being safe.
The words are weird. Especially coming from him. They're sort of corny too. But the swirls and drawing of the character grabs more of his attention as he stares in awe.
It's when that blue light starts to engulf him that Goten jumps startled and instinctively lifts his arms up to shield himself. Once the light consumes him in full, the blue light surges for Schuldig's outstretched hand---and the other one too. It blankets over the god's hands before vanishing and leaving in place a pair of orange finger-less boxing like gloves.
The gloves have a small bit of weight to them, they're thinner then typical boxing gloves with the palm being open and exposed.]
no subject
Then he feels the new shinki's power. Ah ha, this is the kind of thing that could keep them distant until the last possible moment, between the ability itself - Kinetic Energy Manipulation - and Schuldig's own godly teleportation.]
Well now... this is certainly interesting.
[He pauses to allow Goten time to adjust.]
And you've never been called to a vessel form before, huh? How's that feel?
[Despite the light tone in his voice, he's genuinely trying to get the boy to calm down before they budge from this spot - to practice a moment or to run off in search of the Queen, either way.]
no subject
But with Schuldig that clearly isn't the case. All of this is completely new. There's a strange warm to it, a flare of new power that Goten isn't use to at all. It's his own power but its through the god that he's acquired it. Being two items is strange too but he doesn't feel like he's in two places or split. It's almost like their his own hands but he doesn't have that much control over them. He can also feel Schuldig which is strange on it's own.
Is this what being a vessel was suppose to feel like? He wants to hate it. He wants to pout about having to be use by this jerk-god of all people and detest ever second of it until the prayer is complete. He really doesn't like Schuldig, at all, no matter how mellow he's acting compared to their first meeting. If anything, it makes him feel like the god could turn around and snap at any moment. Something just isn't right. But...as much as he wants to dislike this entire experience, he can't. Any nervousness is gone almost instantly and replaced with an overwhelming bubbling excitement he can't suppress. He's eager to fight and try things out. While being a pair of gloves is weird, he'd have rather turned into a cool sword or something but it'll do. He doesn't quite understand this new power quite yet but they'll still be able to fight anyway, right?
Finally he snaps out of his own wonder long enough to acknowledge the god's questions. There's the faintest tinge of embarrassment when asked. He doesn't want to admit being pleased about it as he looks away. Still, the shinki is practically glowing with excitement and energy. Goten is a terrible at lying.]
'Huh? Uh.....it's okay. I guess...Um, really different then what I thought. I never got to try with Archie cause he said I was too little.'
no subject
Never let anyone tell you that. I don't know what you were in your past life, but you're not a helpless human kid, so they shouldn't treat you like one either.
[He's speaking out of personal experience and secondhand from Nagi as well, never mind dozens of other Talent kids that Eszett picked up. He and the rest of Schwarz held their grudges that long, all the way through to adulthood in order to strip their dream away from them -- all for underestimating the very Talents they'd cultivated.]
Either way, you'll get a practice round before we go after the Queen now that I know all that. Let's see, where'd that little one go...
[He walks the opposite direction, looking for a loose bit of gravel. It's just a tiny pebble, really, but it's a solid piece of stone that broke off the roof at some point. He goes to stand near the creature, then ducks down to be closer to its level. It hisses and spits at them, then tries to scurry away.]
Hoki - activate your power.
[And then Schuldig tries to skip the stone like across a lake in order to slam the creature against the half-wall of the roof. It won't take it out, nothing but a Rend ever does, but he needs to play with this a bit.]
no subject
'Practice round?'
[He's up for that but what's confusing is when Schuldig picks up a small piece of stone. It's only when he's told to activate his ability that it clicks a bit, though he still doesn't fully get what Schuldig is trying to do. This is all still new but the power comes almost naturally despite Goten over thinking it. While Schuldig is wearing the gloves and controlling them, the power is something that comes purely from Goten. He can feel that.
There's no glowing or real sign that it's even activated aside from the slight tingle of static-like energy on the tips of Schuldigs fingers as the stone leaves it. The skips are hard, leaving small craters in the roof before colliding into the creature directly in the path. The stone pushes the ayakashi forward before ripping through the creature and continuing on it's path almost unaltered.]
no subject
That's a start. That's one heck of a start.
[Then Schuldig approaches the ayakashi quivering and trying to push its amorphous body back into the hole the pebble created when it slammed through it. That stone ended up buried in the far wall of the roof now.]
Time to finish off this practice round - learning Rend. Get ready, Hoki.
[And Schuldig raises a fist to slam it into the tiny creature on the rooftop - horizontally, lest he destroy the roof of his own followers' hideout bakery.]
[He opens his palm to smack it instead of punch it, but in the end it's up to Goten how powerful the attack ends up being.]
no subject
Now punching is something Goten gets. Rend isn't. How does he throw himself at something when he can't really move? But at the command there is different surge of power that flows through Goten and into the gloves as Schuldig smacks his palm against it. It doesn't knock the ayakashi across the roof but upon contact the ayakashi's body ripples before exploding leaving nothing left.]
'......So is that all we gotta do to the Queen?'
no subject
After we find her. Then, yes that's all.
[Of course, he could just teleport around the city awhile, but he's just lazy enough to not want to do that.]
I think I can try to get an answer from one of these kids, though... they must have someplace they all congregate that isn't this bakery for the queen to be hiding out.
[Walking over and kneeling down by the napping kid, he touches the boy's forehead again, looking for this new piece of information he wasn't concerned with before and thus wouldn't have caught last time.]
no subject
'Wouldn't the queen make it harder to find it though? That sounds to easy...'
[But then again, this is a someone that can read minds. It's sort of like a cheat code to a game, or that's what Goten relates it too anyway. He tries to wait patiently as Schuldig digs for whatever information he can find in the teen's head but that only lasts a mintue or two.]
'Didya find anything? Where is it? Is it super far?'
[Are we there yet?]
13/20
[And that's what made him superior, he normally believed, but today it just makes him convinced that it's what makes him an ideal god, the kind that can answer prayers efficiently.]
Besides, this is no guarantee that's where the Queen will be, just the next stop to finding her.
[He'd PREFER to find the Queen there certainly, but he's also being realistic. Schuldig stands up and dusts off his pants with Goten's gloves, not really caring if it's a weird sensation to the boy since that's the kind of thing he'll probably have to get used to as well.]
Yes, I found something - now I'm just going to scan the area and make sure there's no police in the area. I don't want to have to waste any more time than you do. Or wait until nightfall.
[Truly, he doesn't. There's no sarcasm in his voice. He doesn't want to keep Goten on the hook any longer than strictly necessary to answer this prayer in full.]
Doesn't matter how far it is since I can teleport. Give me another minute - I think it's a big building, maybe some sort of warehouse.
14/20
'I just wanna fight the Queen. Hey, if its really like a Queen then it's gotta be pretty strong right? I bet it's big too!'
[Goten is way to eager to test out his first run in vessel form. This planning part is boring and really Goten is a bit bummed that he can't actually fight it with his own two fists. But he'll take the runner-up prize.]
'Can you teleport anywhere?'
15/20 \o/
Of course I can. All gods can teleport wherever they're needed to answer prayers.
[He taps his own temple out of habit, but suspects Goten can 'feel' that too.]
But you have to know where you're going. Lucky for me, I get to see out there in advance, unlike other gods.
[And just as promised, he teleports to another rooftop, but looking across the street at a warehouse. Several kids can be seen coming and going from the warehouse, all with the same armbands and little ayakashi sitting on their shoulders.]
If the number of little guys around here is any indication, I think the Queen's definitely strong. No worries there, Goten - you'll get to really test yourself against this thing. Just one more thing, though - gotta get these gang kids outta here. But - revert, Goten.
[He waits for Goten to appear in his regular body.]
Go take a lap around the warehouse. Make sure I get all of the kids out and we can have full run of the place. See if you can sense more than the one Queen ayakashi too. I'll be at this a bit.
[It takes several minutes, but one by one Schuldig starts encouraging all of the kids to leave the area and do other duties.]
no subject
But Goten doesn't expect the revert. The gloves glow a bright blue with the kanji of his name appearing jsut above the right hand. The light disappears from Schuldigs hand and forms Goten's body. Once the light is gone, the young shinki is standing there, stumbling back a few steps before tripping and falling back on his rear.]
Ow....
[Goten grumbles, rubbing the spot before blinking. He lifts his hands in front of his face, blinking several times before looking himself over. He's back to normal--minus the name etched onto his left shoulder that goes unseen due to his long sleeves.]
I'm me again...
[After a moment of clenching and unclenching his hands, Goten bounces up in a single jump back to his feet. Okay! He stretches his arms over his head as his dark gaze drifts to Schuldig as the god speaks before giving a slow nod. He can't argue with that. Everyone needs to be safe so they can beat that ayakashi and save the gang.]
On it. Don't worry, I'll make sure we don't miss anyone!
[He gives a brief wave to Schuldig before bouncing off the rooftop and floating towards the warehouse. How ever Schuldig's influence works, it seems to be doing the trick. A lot of the teens are leaving but Goten floats around the building just in case there's any stranglers.]
17/20
Perfect.
[And it gives the kid something to do while he's working. He's silently glad he's not planning on keeping Goten around, interesting a power though he has, because he's pretty sure that the nervous energy would drive his telepathy crazy.
All the same, he manages one by one to get the people out of the way and bothering with more daily minutae, leaving the massive raw emotional black hole he can feel inside of the warehouse the sole semi-sentient creature there. At least he doesn't have to wait long for Goten to return - kid's fast, that's for sure.]
Time to get this over with. Hoki!
[He even raises his fists to accept the incoming shinki now that he knows the boy's form is gloves.]
18/20~!
Floating high above the building, he loops around a few times to make sure a few stragglers head out and get a safe distance. It's once he's sure there's no one else around besides that looming presence inside that he zooms back to Schuldig.
Before he can tell the god that everything is clear, the kanji on his shoulder appears in the air by him and he transforms back into the pair of gloves on the god's hands. There's a small annoyed hum that escapes Goten. A little more warning would have been nice---but he's also eager to take down the ayakashi so he can't really complain. He's so ready for this! The gloves faintly pull on Schuldig's hands, urging him towards the warehouse.]
'Let's go! Let's gooo!'
19/20 <3
Oh we're going.
[With that he teleports just barely inside - against a far wall and up on a mountain of boxes, the only part not covered in goop. In the center of the room is massive, oozing ayakashi that looks like it just came out of the primordial soup. Whatever form it devoured first, human or animal or insect or whatever, it's long ago settled into a much more amorphous shape. Schuldig studies it, finally deciding that something resembling eyes is more on one particular end, while a sharp barb is at the other end.
He points to each one, as much for Goten's sake as his out of habit.]
Ayakashi this big are so gross. There, looks like that side might be the head, while that one's a tail. So somewhere around the middle should be enough of a 'heart' that a solid swipe through it should kill it no problem.
[He says with an air of confidence having done this before.]
20/20/20/20
It's probably a good thing Goten is in vessel form because that is the only thing keeping Goten from flying over and poking at the creature. He wants to touch it, poke it, punch it! There's the faintest pull at Schuldig's hands, he wants to get closer. It may be gross but it looks so cool! Somehow he hears Schuldig dispite his full attention being on the creature.]
'Do you really think so? Sure looks pretty gooey to me! I don't think it's solid at all. Can we test that? You're gonna get closer then this, right?'
\o/
[He smirks a bit at that.]
But you're gonna calm down before I do - even just a notch or two. Because I'm planning on teleporting in and Rending right through it as fast as we can.
[And then get back out of there too.]
If you take care of that then you can punch its rotting corpse and get yourself blighted. I don't want to get within arm's reach of it unless absolutely necessary.
[Now, does he actually expect Goten to be that calm? Not really. But he can... wait just another second and see if it takes. Maybe it won't. Either way, he picks up a crowbar that was probably being used to open some of these boxes. Thanks to Goten's shinki power, he should be able to whip this thing through the ayakashi at a few inches extra range just fine.]
/o/
All this waiting is annoying. Why can't they just get in there and start fighting it? Goten doesn't get this whole planning or observing from a distance thing. If they're stronger, then they'll win right? They gotta win too because of Schuldig's followers.
But Goten tries to settle a bit. He takes a deep breath and there's an audible sigh that comes from him despite being a pair of gloves. He's so ready for this though!]
'So we're going to try and one-shot it? Can you really do that?'
[Is it that easy? That thing is pretty big but he knows from experience that this god is nothing to laugh at either. He'll give it his best try too. He's still bubbling with excitement but its getting more focused now. Goten is a natural fighter, he can at least do that much.]
'Ready whenever you are.'
[Just don't take forever]
no subject
[He taps the crowbar against his hand, against the gloves, but not very hard. In his mind, he starts prepping the spell. There's a very soft glow that begins where he's beginning the Rend spell.
Then, he teleports up above the ayakashi, brandishing the crowbar he would a club, with both hands.]
... Rend!
[And his hands glow with the light of Goten's power, but it doesn't reach up to the crowbar. Schuldig pushes his power alongside Goten's, and it splits the creature in half! Which makes him laugh heartily. He stops on the warehouses boxes across the way, turning around to watch the ayakashi disappear, but-]
Hah! Take that, you-
[It doesn't. It doesn't disappear.
His head snaps back a little bit in annoyance.]
What the hell!
no subject
Schuldig doesn't waste any time which works well for him too. He wants a fight! The gloves glow a bright blue as the grip on the crowbar tightens as it slashes through the ayakashi with ease. It's a strange feeling but it's almost like he's swinging along with Schuldig yet he can feel the creature's flesh tearing from the force. There's hardly any resistance, it's a quick swift swing.
Easy!
Or it seemed that way. A small surprise gasp escapes Goten as the ayakashi doesn't disappear. The damage is still there, the ayakashi is even split down the middle but both halves are wobbling, shifting into two identical ayakashi.]
'Whoaaaa! There's two! There's two! How'd that happen?!'
[They don't seem happy either. As soon as the two are full formed, they're bouncing up throwing themselves at Schuldig.]
no subject
[Sure, he's cussing out a kid. He doesn't care. That's NOT what was supposed to happen!]
Get ready, damnit - we're gonna try this again!
[But not with the crowbar. He drops that like it's made of molten lava, then teleports somewhere up high, balling one fist into the other, then staring down at his hands. Okay so the Rend spell didn't actually work using the crowbar... because the crowbar wasn't his shinki, maybe? It's the best idea he has to go on. He jerks his head up when the two blobs start heading their way, slowly gurgling upwards over all of the boxes.
Schuldig teleports to one side so that he can look up at the door... then the wall... then the roof. Can this kid take down a whole wall, or maybe just part of the roof, with this power of his? ... Maybe? Schuldig's ready to find out. He teleports up to the roof and finds an ornament that's hanging off the side - nice heavy piece of rock he knocks gently against with one glove to dislodge it into his other hand.
Then, he teleports back inside and hurls the rock at one of the blob's "heads" as best he can figure. But that's just to distract it. Then, he runs up close and extends a hand: palm first.]
REND!
no subject
'You're the one that can move and stuff! Maybe you did it!'
[Goten huffs right back feeling frustrated, the gloves getting a little warmer as a result but nothing overly noticeable. He tries to work with Schuldig, not against him. After all, the ayakashi is the problem so he doesn't argue more then that and leads his power as he can. When Schuldig goes to hurl the rock, Goten tries to focus on it, causing the gloves to glow a little as the rock leaves Schuldig's hands. The kinetic energy blasts the rock through the ayakashi's head like it's nothing and collides with wall and ground behind it making a crater and shaking the building.
But that isn't the final blow. Goten tries to push more power into the Rend spell. He wants this to work! It's got to work! The moment Schuldig's palm connects there's a half-second where nothing happens before the ayakashi's body gives a delayed ripple before flying backwards, slamming through the wall and exploding.]
