When Lara had gotten that request from Rei, she hadn't really known what to expect. Especially when he described the outfit he was going to wear. It just sounded...loud. Not that she minded loud. Not after now years with Jonah. Still strange outfits or not, she wasn't going to disappoint, though a part of her worried at least a little that she might be a disappointment to the lad. After all, she wasn't much like her predecessor at all, it seemed.

Ah well, may as well see how it goes, Lara.

So here she is, dressed in a brown bomber jacket and slacks, looking for all the world like she'd stepped out of a 1930s adventure novel (or the set of an Indiana Jones film). It takes her all of a half second to locate Rei and give him a wave. Walking over with an easygoing smile, she gives him the nod.

"Rei Ryugazaki, right?" she asks, offering a hand. "I'm Lara Croft. A pleasure."

Never one to be ashamed of the way he dressed, Rei couldn't find fault in his outfit. He had labored over selecting just the right color combo to meet with the new reincarnation with his god- Purple to provoke the sense of being intellectual and dignified, and Red for Good Luck. With that color combination- it would be impossible for Rei to screw up with this meeting!

And with all that confidence with him Rei greeted Lara with a wide smile and a firm handshake.

"Ah! No, no! All the pleasure is mine! It's good to meet up with the new God or Goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature!" Rei eagerly gushed, practically beaming with enthusiasm.

God save her from clothing feng shui. Lara didn't have the head for fashion beyond knowing she looked good in dark colors and leather jackets so she dressed for function over form. Style was not in her vocabulary.

Her handshake was strong, her grip surprisingly calloused, years of hard work and several hard expeditions having rapidly accelerated that particular problem. However, her smile was no less bright.

"You left out strategy and war," she chided with a cheeky grin. "But thank you. I'm glad to meet more people in general, especially Shinki."

She nodded to a booth and took a seat, plucking up a menu and idly skimming it before ordering a cup of earl grey.

"So, how long were you working for Tenpou?"

"The very basic codes that Athena rule over, of course!" Rei chirped after releasing her hand, mentally taking note of just how calloused her hands were and look into better hand care methods.

"I worked with Tenpou-san a month or two before he and his partner left and I came under the care of my current god. Tenpou-san was very smart!" The blue haired boy replied after he gave his own order of sparkling water. "Are you anxious of filling out his role now?" Rei asked as he tilted his head to the side in curiosity.

Settling in for the conversation, Lara considered the question. Was she anxious? A little. She didn't know the man, though. She'd likely never meet him, and while he'd been well liked, clearly...she hoped that she'd be seen as her own person and not merely his replacement.

"I confess, I'm not sure? Is that strange, ah...Rei-kun? I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I know I was given a responsibility, though. And it'd be disrespectful to the office to not do my best."

Nodding pridefully at her response, Rei couldn't help the swell of Dignity blossoming within his chest at her response. That was the correct answer to give, of course, and there was something to respect in the honest answer that Lara gave.

"Hmn! Not so strange! Obviously you are not the same god that I had served and he might not of been the original Athena but as long as you take your job seriously I think that you have nothing to fear at all. Judging by what you told me, I really don't think it would be that difficult for you to honor your new role."

"Hah, fair point. I don't think I'm afraid so much as I am nervous. Who just...wakes up...and gets told 'today you are a god, good luck!' after all? Not me. I'm just an archaeologist."

She gives him a somewhat reproving look, though, a little unsure.

"And you don't have to honor me. Nor would I expect that. That's ridiculous, I've done nothing to earn it."

"Then would you consider the fact that I wish to pay respect to your title then? It seems terribly rude for me not to pay respect to any Athena as a former Shinki of hers?" Rei answered as he tucked his hands in front of himself, his eyebrows knitting together in consideration.

"If you feel that's necessary, I'm not going to stop you. But don't feel like you have to," Lara replied smoothly, starting to stir a tiny bit of sugar into her tea.

" I would also like to kindly offer you my assistance if you ever find yourself in need of additional service. I am sure that if you ever need some additional service I would be able to talk to my current god and provide you with additional support." Rei answered with complete honestly, hoping that despite how confident he sounded that if the situation ever come about- that he would actually be able to back up his boast.

Lara smiled at him, and not unkindly. She didn't really know him, but eager he certainly was. Poor boy. He died so young, and clearly he didn't deserve any of it.

"Of course, Rei. I'll take you up on that, I'm sure. I'm...not sure exactly what all I will need, but I'm certain that I'll find a use for you. In fact, if you have any reading recommendations, I'd like to hear them."
