[01-27 Edit: Continue your threads at the overflow post to evade captcha!]

There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
  • Get some sun
  • Go for a swim
  • Make sure you're in a swimsuit
  • Enjoy the food and activities
  • Don't drown
  • Have fun~

[Yurick sighs. It's not an easy thing to accept, either being dead or being a god. Regardless of which side of the coin your fate falls here, it's all about acceptance and adaptation.]

If only it was a dream. Much preferable to being dead with an erased memory. Though I suppose denial gives us time to cope, at least at the beginning.

It's not denial to doubt a stranger telling you something impossible.

[Denial, indeed. This doesn't make any sense and everyone is violating the laws of physics in their own individual way. What could it be but a dream?

The only thing she's missing is the ability to fly!]
mementodagger: (and I go on as you get colder)

I suppose the idea that this is the afterlife is impossible, too?

[He doesn't say it in a mean way, merely curious. He had trouble accepting the truth at first, but reality had a way of stomping down on you pretty quickly in this place, what with the powers and ayakashi and all that.]

If there's something that could convince you, what would it be?

Proof that I'm dead, for one thing. A body, a grave... anything.

[She shakes her head, frown darkening.] It's hard to believe this is the afterlife or that we're dead when everything about us feels intact and biologically functional. We even eat!
mementodagger: (you're not real and you can't save me)

[And Yurick's expression darkens right along with hers, clearly troubled.]

They did tell you we're not allowed to remember our lives or our deaths, didn't they? Something awful will happen to us. Though I suppose someone as skeptical as you would consider that another trick to deepen this illusion you believe you're in.

[He tilts his head slightly, that single blue-gray eye piercing in its intensity as he scrutinizes her.]

Would your memories really be gone if this was only a dream?

You have to admit it's pretty convenient that if we ask too many questions something terrible is supposed to happen.

[She'll wait to see how true that is, too. Maybe it is; maybe not....]

Haven't you ever dreamed you've forgotten important things?

[Complete amnesia is a terrifyingly vulnerable feeling. It could be a nightmare, couldn't it?

... She's not too attached to the dream theory, anyway. She could have sustained head trauma. She could be hallucinating.]

I don't think I've ever dreamed I've forgotten my entire history. Nor do dreams persist for months. I've been here since the spring.

[He folds his arms, pondering what he can do to convince her.]

Shinki have powers even outside their vessel forms. Perhaps if you discover your own and use it, that might convince you... that is, unless those kinds of things are normal to you?

Lucid dreams can feel like they stretch for months, or even years.

[She huffs out an annoyed breath, and admits:] I don't know what's going on here, but I do know that I'm not just going to believe what they're telling us about it. It's too convenient.

I accepted things better after a few days. I'm not quite sure why, but it started to feel more real and less like a dream, maybe because I doubt my mind could come up with anything this elaborate.

[The young man shrugs.] It's reasonable to be skeptical to a degree, even wise, but don't let it persist if you get into battle. It could be dangerous to assume you're safe from harm just because you think it's a dream. I've seen what ayakashi can do to us.

I don't plan to be stupid about it.

[She shrugs.] I pinched myself already, and it hurt. Even if this isn't real, I'm not going to let something rip me in half to see what happens.

What do "ayakashi" do?
