There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.



Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

[He listens as she introduces herself; there's something oddly demure about her personality that makes his smile soften, taking on a warmer edge.

So she is his Goddess, after all.]

I am. My name is Lavi.

[It's the same as how he refers to her as his goddess now, but they'll broach on that subject at another time.

He blinks once, though, upon hearing which goddess she is.]

That is curious. A lovely girl such as you shouldn't be known as a goddess of the Underworld.

It's nice to meet you, Lavi.

[Actually, underworld seems entirely appropriate, but she's not exactly goddess material. She also doesn't think she's lovely. But Cardia has had that argument with Lupin and Impey enough times to know that it's futile for some reason.

Still, it is a very kind thing for him to say.]

I suppose they must have their reasons....

[Lupin had always warned Cardia that her body language gave her away. It's a lesson she still hasn't mastered.

It's not a conscious action, but her right hand strays to her left sleeve, brushing nervously across the numbers etched on the leather strap. 666. A label her father tacked onto her clothes to help him keep track. His six hundred and sixty sixth try at creating an abomination suitable to house the philosopher's stone. The only success. If you could call it that.]

The pleasure is all mine.

[For a moment, Lavi watches his goddess, watching the way her body language shifts to display nervousness.

The way she seems to be fiddling with the leather strap, immediately noticing the numbers printed on it. It makes him frown slightly, wondering what exactly had happened with Cardia to make her like this.

He takes a step closer to her, his kind smile remaining on his face.]

What's the matter?

N-nothing.

[Finally realizing what she's been fiddling with, she hastily drops her hand down to her side. And then he's stepping forward and it's only force of will that keeps her from taking a step backwards in response. She's nervous when people get close, but she doesn't want him to think he's the problem either and-

The realization is as abrupt as it is obvious. She's going to have to tell him. If he's her shinki, then that means he'll be living with her. He'll be in too much danger if he doesn't know. She's going to have to tell him the truth.

And then hope that he can keep a secret. But the meeting hall is far too crowded for a discussion like that. There's only one place she can think of. They told her she'd been given a temple to live in.]

Um, they mentioned something about a beach party, but I was thinking about having a quick look at the temple first. Would you like to come?

[He adopts a look of concern, but whether or not it's genuine is up in the air. Lavi does feel a level of concern for his goddess - they are bound to one another, after al - but at the same time, he can't be sure if he can trust her yet either.

It's confusing, but he tilts his head at her words and gives a nod.]

Sounds like a good idea to me. [He perks up.] I wonder how the temple would look like.

It is a temple for a goddess of the underworld, so I doubt it will be a very cheery place. But we may as well see for ourselves.

[Let's see... they mentioned that she should be able to simply teleport there with her shinki. And... if she concentrates, Cardia is surprised to find that she does know how to do that. Sort of... instinctively.]

Um, hold still please.

[The safest way to do this is to just lightly touch his arm with her hand. Her gloves will protect him. And she concentrates on the temple. There is a sudden feeling of brief disorientation and then a rush of cold air. And they are standing before a large building that looks less like a temple than a viking mead hall. It looks somber and lonely on the outside. It probably looks somber and lonely on the inside too....]

[Teleporting was a new thing and Lavi nearly jerks at the strange feeling.

When they arrive in front of the temple, Lavi blinks once and takes a good look at it. It did resemble something more of a gloomy setting than what he hoped for, but it can be somewhat expecting given who his goddess is.]

Well, they did stick close to the Norse theme.

It does seem that way. Perhaps the inside is less.... dreary.

[Cardia is not terribly optimistic about that. Still... she's lived in dreary places before.

She steps forward and pushes the large wooden door. It swings open more easily than she expected. The hall inside is a bit too large and empty to feel inviting but it certainly could be worse.]

It's awfully large for two people. I wonder if all the temples are this big...

[Lavi lets out an impressed whistle.

He's sure he's never been inside such a huge mead hall before, definitely a scene one would see in the books.

However, it doesn't seem to be entirely bad.]

Maybe, but it is our home now. [He scans the hall before he looks at Cardia.] Let's go see if there are any rooms for us here.
