There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.



Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

Oh. No, it isn't the book. I'm just not happy to be out here, that's all. I don't like the beach.

Sighing softly, Leo sticks his arm out in the sun. It is blinding in its paleness and he quickly pulls it back under the shade]

I burn easy, and it hurts. I'm also not a fan of sand, since it gets everywhere.

[ Her wide-eyed expresison melts into one of concern. ]

Oh no! Do you have lotion? Will that help?

...lotion? What do you mean?

[ Have a flailing six-year-old quickly scrambling among the seashells in her pail to come up with a bottle of suntan lotion to offer him. ]

Here! This is supposed to help keep you from getting a sunburn!

They...they have something that helps with that?

[Leo is impressed. He reads the back of the bottle (because obviously) before looking at the girl]

May I use some of this?

[ Nanako nods emphatically, smiling at him. ]

Yes! Getting a sunburn hurts. I always use this instead. Sometimes my nose still turns a little red, though. [ She wrinkles it before crouching down beside him with her bucket of seashells. ] But it would be sad if you came to the beach and then didn't get to have any fun.

Oh, I'm having plenty of fun reading. But anything to help me not turn into a tomato.

[He pops the lid and starts applying the lotion]

[ She giggles at the comment. ]

Being a tomato would be bad. So would being a lobster. I'm Nanako! Or Nanshe, that's what the shinki call me.

Nanshe--the god you're replacing?

[ Nanako nods enthusiastically. ]

Yes. She's a very old god. She looked after all the widows and orphans left after wars and things. [ And some other things, but that was the one that Nanako had latched onto as her favorite. ]

[Leo smiles a bit]

That's a very noble job, Nanako. I'm sure you'll do it well.

I'm gonna try! [ She sounds very determined about it, at least. ]

What about you?

Oh, Odin's a god of magic and knowledge and the dead, at least that I can remember. Thankfully, I was already good at the first two.

[ Nanako's eyes go a little wide at that, because even she's heard enough stories out of mythology for the one to sound familiar.. ]

Isn't he the dad of Loki and Thor?

[ Then the rest of what he'd said sinks in and she blinks at him. ] You can do magic?

Thor, yes, but not Loki according to what I've read.

And I can. I don't have my tome with me, or I'd offer to show you.

[ Color her officially intrigued. Then again, her knowledge of 'magic' is her big brother's few sleight of hand 'tricks'. ]

I do. The spells contained within the tomes are much to powerful to simply memorize.

[ Her eyes widen even further at this explanation. ]

Is it hard?

It can be. The tome I use is the most powerful tome in the world, back home, and not everyone can harness its power.
