There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.



Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

Did it hurt bad? Did you get sick?

[She knew those were two very distinct possibilities of such a fate, and knew how painful both experiences could be for someone-- especially someone so young.]

[She truly seemed visibly upset by this information, for she wouldn't wish that kind of discomfort upon evenn those who were the worst kind of human imaginable...

And, if Felicia had known Leo in the darkened depths of Nohr during that time, she probably would have tried to do something about that :|]

It's a good idea for you to stay under here then, just to be safe. It's a very clever idea, too-- bringing one of these out in the sun.

[...Nevermind that Felicia was arguably as pasty as Leo was. Even months of travelling between countries hadn't done anything to help her fair complexion.]

I expect someone to come and try to drag me out into the sun eventually, but for now I am more than happy to stay out of the sun. Though you look like you could use the shade just as bad, if not more, than I do.

[She is from the Ice Tribe, after all. She's bound to burn easier than he does.]

I can keep myself cool, a little. [Felicia said, condensing a little bit of ice at her fingertips as she spoke, as if to show this person. It quickly fractured under the heat of the sun and started to melt onto her hands-- but she had known that would happen.]

But, being cool doesn't help with the sun. People can get burned really badly on sunny, snowy days-- if you can believe that. You'd think it would be the temperature....but, no. It's the light.

Oh, I know. I can't imagine having to explain a sunburn in the middle of winter, though. Why on earth would you be that uncovered in the cold?

Maybe if you grow up in a place where the weather's cold, you just get used to it?

[She twisted a lock of her long hair as she pondered this question.]

It's probably the same if you grew up in a very warm place. If you feel it every day, then it just doesn't bother you anymore.

I would still think going around half-naked in the snow would be uncomfortable.

No more uncomfortable than going around half naked on a beach!

...The difference between going around half naked on a beach and an icy mountain is the fewer layers you wear in the heat, the more comfortable you are. The fewer layers you wear on an icy mountain, the closer to hypothermia you are.

[She stared at him, mind drawing a blank as to a possible comparison for why it wouldn't be a terrible problem to wear so few layers in the snow. People could trek through the snow barefoot-- they could trek through the snow in skirts and heels--]

Uhm. What kind of point are you trying to make?

[Because somehow, on a level that ran deeper than her very bones, she had a feeling she would fare much better if this were a wintery mountain-- even in such attire!]

Most people will freeze to death if they went around half-naked in a mountain blizzard.

Very well. I'll try to be more aware of the fact that people are just as easily hurt by the cold as they are of the heat! Even if it's easier to protect yourself from the cold than from the heat...
