012 | The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: Beach party
When: All day June 5
Where: The beach
Summary: A beach party for all of the Far Shore residents

[01-27 Edit: Continue your threads at the overflow post to evade captcha!]

There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
  • Get some sun
  • Go for a swim
  • Make sure you're in a swimsuit
  • Enjoy the food and activities
  • Don't drown
  • Have fun~

[Chrome's face, too, becomes carefully blank. Shinki. Memory loss and the warnings of not mentioning the past. With Hibari this probably isn't that big of a deal- the two had never been particularly close despite being "Family," but it still stung. they were still "family" regardless of Hibari's opposition to this.

But Chikusa... She closes her eyes in an expression of mild grief, before rapidly blinking away the tears that threaten to form. She straightens up and sets her jaw stubbornly--she can cry later, but not now.
]

I understand. [But then Chrome falters again and clenches her hands together in front of her, suddenly wishing for the relative security of holding her trident.] ...There's nothing to be done...?

No.

[He glances away, out at the glitter of light against the shifting water, to offer her privacy with her feelings.]

Some shinki have regained certain memories about their past, but none of us know what might trigger those memories. Regardless, mentioning anything to them that they don't remember on their own can turn them into a monster.

[He sighs, and glances back at her, letting her see the concern in his eyes.]

It's happened.
pineapplet: (They're not help-me-out-of-jams tits.)

[A monster? Her eyes widen a little. And it happened before? She has no reason to believe he's lying, despite how much she'd like to, and that probably hurts worse.]

...I understand. [She says it again, her tone dull, and she looks away, feeling suddenly lost. She'd been hoping to look to Chikusa and Hibari for guidance and her cues here, but now it felt like she really was all alone. At least Tsuna and Mukuro weren't here and weren't shinki; she could take some comfort in that.]

Are they... Are they doing well, at least?
reformedsinner: (slasher smile)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-01-18 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
As well as can be expected. Hibari's been spending time at an abandoned temple I'm trying to renovate into a school.

[To no one's suprise who's met him for more than a few minutes, or in any situation not involving immediate violence. Hakkai smiles faintly.]

And Chikusa seems to be getting along well with his god. Axel, I think it was.
pineapplet: (This is not my bathroom)

[personal profile] pineapplet 2017-01-18 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
A school. [She echoes this and smiles knowingly.] Even without his memories, he's still loyal to a school. It's nice to know some things will never change.

[Though it's a bit weird to not see such devotion to Namimori, just as it's weird t hear of Chikusa having a 'god' or someone he might look at that way that wasn't Mukuro. Chrome looks confused a moment and a little disturbed]

His god... [Not Mukuro. It's such a weird thing to wrap her head around.] I see. I should-- [But then Chrome goes quiet. 'Should' what? Talk to this Axel guy? About what? Chikusa was more than capable of taking care of himself, but she couldn't help but feel a certain degree of responsibility towards him, what with him missing memories and all.

The same could be said about Hibari, honestly, though Chrome has a feeling his god has his hands full enough. It provides her a chance to change the subject a little
] I take it Hibari-san hasn't handled having a god too well...

So he did feel that way in life. I thought the obsession must have come from somewhere.

[Hakkai's smile fades, slowly, until it's a wistful ghost of an expression, and he looks away from her. It's a situation he has too much experience with, isn't it? It's -- not easy.]

Hibari's had some challenges, yes. If you...

If you were close to them in life, don't avoid them just because they don't remember. It's best if you don't let them know that you were once close, though. It can be... difficult, as a shinki, to cope with that kind of knowledge.

But sometimes it's worse not to have the chance to know someone again.
pineapplet: (I want a gay best friend.)

Under normal circumstance, neither Hibari-san nor Chikusa [There's a distinct lack of honorific with Chikusa's name] would have associated with me. [She can say that clearly; there's no self-deprecation in it or anything, it's just stating a fact.

She reaches up self-consciously to touch at her hair, hesitating
] And... I am worried my appearance may spark something in them. [There's no way to say that without some kind of explanation, and she fixes Hakkai with a quiet, considering look before she sighs. He seems to be the most knowledgeable about shinki matters that she's met so far, so--]

...I look very much like a man Hibari-san loathes, and whom Chikusa was deeply loyal to. I don't think even the loss of memory would stop them from reacting to it. Hibari-san may try to kill me on sight out of instinct alone.

[She doesn't sound worried about that though, not in the slightest. She could take 'im.]

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-01-20 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Shinki don't recognize people that easily.

[Hakkai's response is immediate: he should know, after all. He'd been suspicious because of the way that Gojyo had responded to him, but with Sanzo and Goku, he had had no idea of their connection until his own memories had slowly started to return.

His faint smile reappears.]

If you hint at your connection, that's one thing, but a resemblance won't make a difference. It's up to you, though, in the end.

They won't remember you regardless. [He taps a thoughtful forefinger against his chin before continuing.]

If I'm not the first you've asked about them, you may want to come up with a cover story for your curiosity, though.
pineapplet: (I'm about to die from sobriety over here)

[personal profile] pineapplet 2017-01-20 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[She tilts her head, expression blank and neutral-- except for the faint crease in her brow that suggests disapproval. Clearly this guy doesn't understand the sheer depth of hatred Hibari has for Mukuro. She's not sure there's a spell (or whatever's behind the memory loss) around strong enough to hold back on that.

But then, she's not a shinki. She doesn't know. She looks away again and lets her hand drop, fingers clenching and flexing as she resists the urge to summon her trident just for its comforting weight. It's a clear indication of her growing distress here, but--

A cover story, he says, but her shoulders slump slightly; nearly everything about her is carefully controlled (or attempts to be), but she can't stop the little things that give her away. What was the point?
]

Yes, I suppose... [Why couldn't Boss or Mukuro have been here too? It would've been much easier if she wasn't the bridging point here.]

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I was in a similar situation, but if it's easier for you not to get too close, well.

[He shrugs, very slightly, and glances away as well.]
pineapplet: (I gave him a BJ and he left.)

Ah, no-- You've been very helpful, thank you. It's just... Trying to decide the best course of action. I' not a leader. It's hard to know what to do without someone guiding you. [Not that she couldn't, of course, but she was rather used to Tsuna or Mukuro giving the orders. She didn't want to make the wrong decision here-- and suddenly she's feeling a little more appreciative of those two.

(Alright so probably Mukuro didn't sped nearly as much time trying to think things through as Tsuna did but still)

It hasn't occurred to her yet to give her name, though she figures that's probably something she should do in case she needs to know anything more about shinki or something. She bows politely.
] I'm Dokuro Chrome. Thank you for your assistance.
reformedsinner: (closer look)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-01-22 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Cho Hakkai, shinki of Mahakala. [He bows.] It's a difficult adjustment, I'm sure.

[He straightens up from the bow, and regards her, thoughtfully, for a long moment.]

That said... I think that you should be talking to them directly. If they need your assistance, that's the best way to find out, and if they don't, it's best not to worry about it in advance.
pineapplet: (We can't go back there. Ever.)

[personal profile] pineapplet 2017-01-24 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Should she give her God designation too? She looks a bit uncomfortable, but hesitantly add] I'm... supposed to be Nephthys. An Egyptian goddess of death. [And other things but. Death. Chrome looks more amused by this than really disturbed, and touches lightly at her eyepatch-- or more particularly, the skull on it. Maybe someone has a sense of humor.

Her hand drops to her side and she regards Hakkai quietly, nodding at the advice. It's good advice, she supposes, so she'll take it. But...
]

How do you know them? [Hibari isn't one for really making friends, after all and... Well, neither is Chikusa for that matter.]
reformedsinner: (elementary my dear dragon)

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-01-24 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hibari attacked me the first time we met, and I almost killed him. I felt a certain responsibility for him after that.

[He sighs, with a long-suffering tone, and spreads his hands.]

And, of course, my goddess at the time was the goddess of education, so when we started a school...

As for Chikusa, I only met him recently. He was stealing a kebab.

[personal profile] pineapplet 2017-01-27 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Somehow... that sounds about right... [Chrome trails off, looking mildly exasperated but nonetheless unsurprised by this revelation. Either of them.]

Mm. It's strange for him to be attached to another school... But, I suppose his doesn't exist here. [So a substitute was found. Weird. Hibari was so weird.

Her expression warms a little at the idea of Chikusa stealing food though. How typical. But she focuses her questions on Hibari, interested to see if the loss of memory's changed anything
] Does Hibari-san still attack anyone he sees as a challenge?
