There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.



Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

[ Sparklers aren't nearly as entertaining as fireworks, but when all the bottle rockets have been claimed, it's a decent second place. Nice to look at, but also tame enough that you don't have to be super attentive or careful.

Unless the sparklers about to die out and someone suddenly speaks next to you. The slight jump can cause those last few sparks to land on your feet instead of illuminating the air. ]

Huh? ..Ow!

[ Bandou jumps, tossing the now dead stick away from himself. ]

I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to startle you...

[And now that she had, the question on her mind seemed too awkward to ask now. So instead...]

Are you alright?

[chickshades]

[ There's a grimace on Bandou's face until he turns to look at who's speaking to him and slowly smiles. ]

Yeah, don't worry about it. Didn't really hurt anyway.

[ It was more startling than anything. ]

What were you gonna ask?

[drops_acid]

[He doesn't seem upset, so she supposes that she may as well ask after all.]

Well... actually I was going to ask you about those little fireworks that you had. I wanted to try one, but.... I wanted to make sure that would be alright.

[chickshades]

Oh uh, yeah. Hold on.

[ He pauses, looking around the area near them for the box he'd grabbed earlier. It's stuck in the sand just next to them and he fishes it out. The box is nearly empty, but he grabs the last few and hands her one. ]

Here. They're called sparklers.

[ Now, he could go light it for her in the big bonfire, but why do that when he could try and impress her by making a small flame appear in his hand? ]

Thank you.

[She accepts is hesitantly, but with a tiny smile. She's about to ask about lighting it when a small flame suddenly lights on his hand.]

Oh!

[Cardia has seen a lot of impressive things in her short life, but magic is still new. For a fraction of a second, her troubles fade away behind a sense of wonder.]

How did you do that?

It's pretty awesome, right?

[ He definitely looks like he's proud of his ability. ]

I just figured it out the other day. I'm pretty sure it's because of the tattoo I have.

[ And he may have never figured it out if he hadn't awoken to an influx of memories that day. One of which involved his close friend receiving the same tattoo and suddenly being able to wield fire.

He keeps the flame going as he beams at her. He'll let her light it when she's ready. ]

Because of a tattoo?

[She didn't know there were tattoos that could do that. Then again, she's poisonous because of a rock embedded in her chest. So.... magic tattoos probably shouldn't seem that strange.

Cardia carefully puts the tip of the sparkler into the flame, and pulls it away as soon as it lights. She's worried the sparks might hit him otherwise. The white sparks crackle and rain down onto the sand and her questions evaporate for a second.]

It's lovely...

[ He would have gone on about it, but she's so entranced by the sparkler that he just smiles and watches it with her. It lasts a minute or so before the sparks fizzle out. Bandou takes a second from the package, offering it to her in case she'd like another. ]
