012 | The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: Beach party
When: All day June 5
Where: The beach
Summary: A beach party for all of the Far Shore residents

[01-27 Edit: Continue your threads at the overflow post to evade captcha!]

There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
  • Get some sun
  • Go for a swim
  • Make sure you're in a swimsuit
  • Enjoy the food and activities
  • Don't drown
  • Have fun~

It’s the duty of a shinki to look out for their god.

[The most minuscule of shrugs, clearly with very little effort put into it.]

If something happens here, at an event brought together by the old gods, then I should be able to report it back to him…

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-17 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that so.

[Something to keep in mind. He'd been told things a bit differently, but that would be the way of it. Shinki of course wouldn't be told the same thing.]

So far things seem .. exactly as one would expect from a party.
kokuyoyo: (I don't do stupid things anymore.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-17 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
After the festival a few days, they probably did their best to make it mundane...

[At least, that's his guess. Chikusa doesn't care, but he supposes he could see the logic there.]

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-17 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't here for recent events. Have things been difficult?

[Boring events made boring on purpose because of something else suggests he missed something very exciting and potentially enlightening.

That really figures.]
kokuyoyo: (Please don't place wagers on my)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-17 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Corpses somehow became reanimated.

[It'd actually been a terrifying, heartbreaking event for a lot of people, but Chikusa's tone stays at the same dull level as the rest of his words, as though it's not anything unusual.]

It happened on the Near Shore, so... it was annoying to clean up...
fixed_destiny: (08)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-17 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Corpses. That explained something he'd been wondering.]

Is this a regular sort of occurrence? You don't seem particularly troubled by it.

[Or much of anything so far, which he could respect. Control was admirable, if indeed that's what it was.]
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-18 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
[More like mental issues that determinedly bury his feelings on things, but, hey, 'control' sounds nicer. Chikusa shrugs.]

I'm dead and working for a god. Should something like that be much stranger?

[Which is a point, really. Nothing forces you to be open minded like the situation they're all in.]

Although I suppose the older gods were more worried about the state of the souls...
fixed_destiny: (Default)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-18 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
It depends on the context of the situation. If working for gods and being dead is normal, but reanimated corpses are not..

[He shrugs.]

Is something amiss with the state of souls? That wasn't mentioned in the introduction.
kokuyoyo: (And the cops are back.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-18 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Corpses shouldn't have dead souls. Especially ones that don't match.

[Common logic, right? ...Also he might be trying to steal a soda about now-]

Apparently there were ones that gods recognized.
fixed_destiny: (03)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-18 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Corpses shouldn't have living souls. [That's more obvious to Xehanort.] But unmatching ones..

[Although Xehanort notices the move towards the soda, all he does is step slightly out of the way. He brought them for everyone! Such a subtle effort to get some fizzy goodness will not be remarked on.

But he sees it oh yes. And he's watching.

Hopefully this guy doesn't go for one of those melon ones, they're weird.]

If defilement of death is such an important recent event, that might explain why I've been assigned a death god. I have nothing in common with it otherwise.
kokuyoyo: (Tell him next time I'm going to be)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-19 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Watch and judge all you like, so long as he gets one.]

Maybe. But my god is a man, and was given the role of a hearth goddess. There might not be a factor…

[A shrug, and he pops open the tab.]
fixed_destiny: (Default)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-19 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[He is absolutely going to judge if a melon soda is picked. How can people LIKE that taste??]

If his personality fits the role that might be more important than something like whether one's sex matches. After all, in myth many gods are shapeshifters to begin with.. little things like male or female might not matter at all.

[He matched with his own assignment's. But not everyone did. There was a girl out here somewhere who got assigned Apollo.]
kokuyoyo: (Please don't place wagers on my)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-20 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Then he better judge, because Chikusa does not seem to care as he takes a sip.]

Maybe... That sort of thing seems hard to tell.

And it doesn't seem like the Heavens will or can tell if there's a process behind it.

[His tone stays perfectly level as he states that, not betraying that he's annoyed by that.]
fixed_destiny: (08)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-21 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
That seems like standard bureaucracy. Is anything at all going the way it seems to be intended to?
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Prayers are still being answered… And the human world continues to turn.

So… I suppose.

But there’s still too much that isn’t solved yet, and…. Prejudice between old and new gods, apparently.
fixed_destiny: (08)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-22 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Worlds turn with or without gods, I'm not sure we can claim this is their doing.

[Or the doing of the new ones for that matter. He leans a bit against the table, watching people party further on. It looked so ordinary.]

In the old tales divinity was a matter of birth. You were born a god or you weren't one. We mortals getting those jobs must chafe beyond belief.
kokuyoyo: (Tell him next time I'm going to be)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-22 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
[The festival had looked ordinary as well, before zombies happened. Then things took quite a turn. All it's done is cemented Chikusa's belief in constant vigilance, even for such a mundane event as this.]

[For now, Chikusa shrugs.]

For gods. Shinki.... don't have that problem, I think. We were mortal before anyway, after all.
fixed_destiny: (13)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-22 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Weren't we all?

[He was. Everyone he'd seen or spoken to so far seemed to come from mortal roots.]
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-23 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Shinki are always supposed to be mortal, I think. Gods such as Axel-sama, or you…

It’s different… at least from what I understand…
fixed_destiny: (08)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-23 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
All things can die. I certainly could just this morning and I'm sure if I wished to try it out I could die right now.

[Needless to say he isn't even a little bit interested in trying it out there's way too much to do.]

A strange distinction to try to make between a shinki and a god. I suppose that too will need researching when I can find the time..
kokuyoyo: (Woke up with a squirrel in my bed.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
There's a lot of things that need researching...

[And Chikusa's heavy sigh says that he's already exhausted by the size of the list alone.]
fixed_destiny: (13)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
On the bright side, there's now plenty of time to do it in, as far as I have been able to find out aging is no longer an issue.

[There - for the first time, a touch of eagerness to his otherwise neutral voice. A possible immortality so long as he didn't get brutally murdered in some fashion, which meant lots of time to research whatever he wanted! He didn't HAVE to pick one field if he didn't want to!]

If we're stuck like this for the forseeable future it can't hurt to try to focus a bit on the good parts.
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
If you don't disappear, first.

[Chikusa wishes he could share some of that eagerness, but it's a problem, when you're dead inside.]

...Have you heard about those yet...?
fixed_destiny: (Default)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid not. There wasn't much detail given that I can make use of beyond ... go here.

[A gesture made at the party. How is he supposed to get much relevant knowledge out of this?]

Disappear how?
kokuyoyo: (I don't do stupid things anymore.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Completely.

[A worrying statement, to be sure.]

Without any warning... They'll disappear. As will their temple... and the name they bestowed onto their shinki. No one knows what happens to them... Although it seems like it's only from 'new' gods.

...Some of the corpses.... Apparently, there were people who recognized the souls trapped in them. At least one was a god who had disappeared...
