012 | The Beach Episode
Who: Everyone!
What: Beach party
When: All day June 5
Where: The beach
Summary: A beach party for all of the Far Shore residents
[01-27 Edit: Continue your threads at the overflow post to evade captcha!]

There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.
It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.
New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear
Playful Fish
Barbecue

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.
New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear
- Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.
Playful Fish
- The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.
Barbecue
- Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.
After Dark
- Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
- Get some sun
- Go for a swim
- Make sure you're in a swimsuit
- Enjoy the food and activities
- Don't drown
- Have fun~

[After that sudden announcement from the searingly brightly colored stranger, the utterly bland response might be ... rather boring. It's a good default to fall back on because while Xehanort is busy being surface bland the rest of him is wondering what in darkness that thing is.
He's seen a lot of creatures in the past couple years. But no bird-kid-ghost things.
Was this an ayakashi? ... If it tried to eat him, maybe..]
But if I can catch it I'm going to eat it.
[Noticeably he's not going in the water after it. He's just going to sit here and watch the orange thing. person.]
... Are you god, shinki or ayakashi?
no subject
Curling his wings to exaggerate the shrug he provides in answer to the fish's potential fate, Davesprite flicks the tip of his tail so it faintly stirs the surface of the water.]
As both a human and a bird, this is an idea I can get behind. Even if I'm kind of hoping you don't catch this poor fucker now while he's having so much fun.
[That next question makes it pretty obvious this guy is new, though, in particular the last part of it, and Davesprite lowers his head just enough that he's almost, but not quite, looking over his shades in incredulity.]
Yeah, once you've actually seen an ayakashi I'm pretty sure you're not going to be asking anyone if they're one again. Aside from the whole not enough of a mind to talk thing, they come in way creepier flavours than tangerine bird kid. Gonna have to commend you on asking the other two instead of assuming, though, because you would not fucking believe the number of people I've had assume I'm a god just on weirdness principle, like us shinki can't be just as acid trippy.

Like bird ghost kids with s.. is that a sword? That gets another second look, but he doesn't seem to be in any pain.
Or even noticing it's there. The sudden urge to reach over and grab it is firmly squelched.]
Well, if it bites the hook I can't very well stop it.
[One thing at a time, with that addressed he can weigh the rest freely.]
Information on what to look for or expect has been very scarce, for any of the three, except that ayakashi are monsters and the rest are not.
[And Davesprite is .. .. human..ISH?? Sort of? A monster-ish looking person with sunglasses and a sword through his stomach.]
It's good to know that not everything in a human shape is an automatic enemy. In fairness, someone with a sword through their stomach is a bit creepy, I assume that doesn't actually hurt..?
no subject
The line of Davesprite's jaw tightens just a little when he hears where that question came from, because this isn't even the first time here he's been called a monster directly or indirectly, and yet it still hurts. Sure, he doesn't entirely disagree with the description, but being reminded of it is a little like being slapped in the face.
Avoiding a direct answer for the moment, he instead draws the sword out of his stomach, spins it in his hand briefly, and sheathes it again.]
Nope. Can't say it isn't a memorable as shit way to carry my sword around, even if it makes me whatever kind of monster to however many people.
[There may or may not be a faint trace of not quite restrained bitterness in that last remark.]
no subject
...Maybe I should get a spear then.
[There's more than one way to catch a fish! Though that would mean getting up and getting different fishing equipment and then actually getting in the water and he's not really inclined to do ANY of that.
But there's a change in the orange stranger's mood, and Xehanort notices it .. but he's not socially adept enough to know what to do about it. Or even be certain what the issue even was.]
The sword doesn't make you a monster. Many people have swords. For many though, wearing it like that would be a death sentence.
[He'd REALLY like to ask questions but it seems the feathered person's mood is on the decline and he'd probably get rebuffed.]
no subject
Going the old school method, huh. I mean, you could probably at least charge people entrance to the spectacle of watching a guy try to harpoon tiny fish in the middle of a beach party.
[Seems like good comedy to him, but maybe this guy actually knows how to use something like that better than a line.
Returning to the monster issue roughs his composure a bit, though, and while he doesn't outright show how uncomfortable he is with the topic, the comment gets a look a little darker than it really warrants.]
Yeah, thanks, I know how humans work even if I'm not one. I'm pretty sure the sword is just one more reason for people to think that, not the only one.
[He's making a pretty impressive effort at keeping his voice casual.]
no subject
[It would be not particularly worth watching too, unless the fish decided to further irritate via grabbing onto something he couldn't stick a fish-spear into, like himself or a rock.
But darkness has a way of stirring when people don't expect it to, lured by unhappy emotions and perhaps even unhappy memories. Xehanort watches his bobber for a few moments, silent and measuring. The bobber spins in happy circles.
He's really going to have to catch that fish.]
You are the first intelligent, communicative non-human I have ever encountered, as far as I know. I don't know your people or your culture, or if you are completely unique. Having only dealt with my own... guessing what is and is not acceptable is a bit difficult.
[Wat.]
If I have caused offense, it is not intentionally. I apologize.
[Hiding things from someone who constantly hides things, might not be a simple matter.]
no subject
[But hey, you have to base fictional characters on something, right? Nobody says there aren't any stupid rich people here.
It'd be a lot harder not to smile at the floater bobbing up and down without the current damper on Davesprite's mood, but as it is it's mostly just helping him not be more bitter about this. When Xehanort goes on that somewhat scientific-sounding tangent, though, Davesprite does at least look up with a difficult-to-read expression on his face.]
Fuck, you're a scientist, aren't you, the "intelligent, communicative non-human" spiel gave it away. Not that I really have anything against scientists in general, but I'm pretty sure I'm the kind of thing that most of them would want to start sticking stuff into to see how I tick.
I don't really know the answers to any of that shit either, except that I'm a sprite - which isn't much but a word to describe myself and no fucking context - so I can't really help you there either. But hey, I'm not enough of a douche to turn down an apology.
no subject
....'Scientist'. There wasn't a word for it back home. I'm not the sort that studies people, if it helps. I have a friend who might but as far as I can tell he's not here. And he's easy enough to avoid or intimidate if he does appear.
[Things that aren't reassuring: probably this.
Sprite doesn't mean much in context, he knew what they were to him but frankly this one is FAR too big to qualify. As much as he very much was interested in finding out more he's pretty sure at this point any such question wouldn't even a tiny bit be welcome.]
I don't suppose any of that gives you a knack for catching fish. Or scaring one particular fish away.
[The bobber sways a bit, tauntingly.]
no subject
You're welcome for the vocabulary expansion, but it's not an uncommon thing here. Scientists are the ones who discover pretty much all the cool shit about the world that we kind of need to know to not fuck ourselves over. And if your friend is that easy to intimidate, all I probably need to do is turn up in front of him.
[Believe it or not, he has actually had people scream on seeing him for the first time.
Rather than answer that remark directly to start with, Davesprite dips the tip of his tail back into the water, dragging it along towards the fishing line and twitching it around a bit in hopes of luring the fish over to it instead.]
If I knew what kind of half a bird I was supposed to be, I might have a knack, but this kinda depends on how smart our small fry over here is.
no subject
[Now, Xehanort doesn't really have anything against Even, it was just the toothpick apprentice's habit of glazing everything in a layer of frost whenever sufficiently startled was really funny.
He supposed they might qualify as 'scientists'. Some of the projects they were working on would definitely count as cool shit about the world. As Davesprite sticks his tail in the water, he watches with interest.]
Birds aren't something I know a lot of. I don't think they're very clever fish at all so much as escapees from that ... playing around earlier and haven't gotten it out of their systems yet.
[At least one of the fish is prompt to investigate this new bright orange thing in its environment.]
