There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
  • Get some sun
  • Go for a swim
  • Make sure you're in a swimsuit
  • Enjoy the food and activities
  • Don't drown
  • Have fun~

"Nergal Heavy industries recruited me when I completed schooling in 2189 C.E."

With that lightning seems to dance across Ruri's eyes as an odd symbol appears on her hand and her hair starts to move with static electricity. Shortly thereafter a holographic screen appears in front of her but simply reads "No Carrier" before vanishing after a few seconds and Ruri staggering with a very tired look.

"Yes, it is the very early 21st century, I won't be born for 169 years."

"How did--"

No. Either Scully's seeing things again, or that was some kind of projection. Implant? Something like that, which is far beyond any technology she's ever heard of. It might be possible sometime far in the future -- for instance, a century and a half in the future ...

She realizes she's staring, and clears her throat.

"So you're telling me you're from the distant future?"
hontobakabaka: (Ruri flustered)

"I am. If you are versed in Higgs-Boson physics it is somewhat easier to explain, but even with that the theory of time travel is very different than the reality of being yanked from home in mid jump and dumped here."

Shaking her head a bit she tries to straighten up, "What I just showed you was my link, which is a nanomachine treatment in my bloodstream. Not magic or anything crazy like that."
skepticstarbuck: (not again)

[personal profile] skepticstarbuck 2017-01-19 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"The Higgs boson is still theoretical," Scully starts to say, and then scowls. Is it? If she's talking to a time traveler, who knows what kinds of advances two hundred years have made?

At least the nanomachine projection capabilities are something she can accept. Tentatively.

"... Once I find a good microscope," she settled on instead, "would you let me have a blood sample to confirm that?"

"I don't have a problem with that. I've had more than enough blood drawn though my life that it doesn't bother me anymore."

With that she shrugs, "And yes, Higgs Boson is theoretical, but due to discoveries made on Mars, it has jumped ahead decades in research."

Scully gives her a dubious look. Are they talking about the same Higgs boson? She has no idea. She's a little shaky on the research anyway; she knows the concept, at least, but... since when was there even any theory about it being involved in time travel?

Since two hundred years in the future, maybe.

If that's even possible. She rubs her forehead. "All right, I'll... time travel isn't... I've heard stranger things. In the last hour. So they've done research on Mars."
hontobakabaka: (SD2)

[personal profile] hontobakabaka 2017-01-20 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Mars... Mars is complicated, if she hadn't seen the ruins, or the Jovian colonies mentioning aliens would sound stupid and crazy. Even aliens that left the solar system several millions of years ago after they probably watched the formation of life on Earth for scientific purposes. Still, she did mention Mars.

"Mars was colonized about 20 years ago, the terraforming has been an ongoing process."
skepticstarbuck: (you can't be serious)

[personal profile] skepticstarbuck 2017-01-21 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I imagine so," Scully says dryly. Twenty years ago means a hundred and eighty years in the future, which seems a little long. There are probably unforeseen technical challenges involved. That, or NASA needs better funding, or this is all in her head anyway.

"So that's what's going on in your time," she adds. "What's going on here?"
hontobakabaka: (Ruri pondering)

[personal profile] hontobakabaka 2017-01-21 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"To be honest, I don't think that going on about the Jovian wars would interest you, or the Martian Successors. Nor would I expect you to think it was anything other than nonsense."

Letting out a sigh she looks back at the beach, "As for what is going on here. I can't say. Too many people throw the word magic around like it means something other than 'needs to be classified' and leave it at that. Apparently gods went missing so they are pulling people in to fill the position and gathering spirits of the dead to assist them."
skepticstarbuck: (withdrawal)

[personal profile] skepticstarbuck 2017-01-23 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"So, the people who are 'gods' aren't necessarily dead," Scully says slowly. That's interesting. Does it mean that they're only telling people who've lost their memories that they died?

Could it be that they can't implant memories, just remove them? She pinches the bridge of her nose against a headache.

"... Do they know why the gods disappeared?"

This all sounds crazy. She knows it sounds crazy. But it's starting to sound like the kind of madness that might have a method behind it.
hontobakabaka: (Ruri discouraged)

[personal profile] hontobakabaka 2017-01-23 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"That would seem to be accurate with the information I have. I don't know about the exact bits as everything they explain it with is magic and spiritual nonsense and I'd really rather not repeat any of that."

With that she shakes her head a bit, "No one seems to know anything about where the old gods went, and why random spirits are being pulled from several times and realities to serve the people they kidnap to fill the roles."
skepticstarbuck: (sitting back)

[personal profile] skepticstarbuck 2017-01-24 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"If we're supposed to believe that spirits are being kidnapped from different realities," Scully mutters, mostly to herself, "we might as well believe in magic."

There are some things that might just be very advanced science. That, she's fairly sure, is over the line.
