There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.



Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

Sounds seasonal, or at least I'm assuming that based on the flurry of people trying to give away their berries or baked items featuring berries over the internet last month.

[Seems like a logical enough assumption to him. Though he watches Forrest start cooking with some interest, when he's asked the direct question, his focus goes back to Forrest rather than the process.]

Alright, I guess. One of Hajime's old shinki came back to her temple and is the hugest stick in the mud you've ever seen but we see way less of each other than you'd figure living in the same temple, so that's kinda less shit than you'd expect. Haven't been doing much of anything else, I gotta admit, still working on trying to access turntables that wouldn't requre someone to drop cash for it.

I'm gonna guess you've been keeping on with the clothes making business since I last saw you, because that's a pretty sweet piece there.

[He did catch wind of some odd curses flying about, but that was all. He keeps one eye on the grill as he continues to talk.]

Perhaps you'll wake up to find them in your room someday. I'm not entirely sure how it happens, but sometimes things we want just... show up. It happened to me, and to my father, too.

And yes, I'm still making clothing. Even without the business, it's what I'd be doing with my time. I haven't had many orders recently, though.

Be fucking glad you did, I turned lime green for three days after I took one of the offers. Even by the standards of shit experiences here, it was some spectacular shit.

[Looks like Davesprite caught wind of those curses too, if in a slightly different manner. Thankfully he wasn't around enough for anyone to run into him during that time, but it was still embarrassing.

Tapping the sword embedded in his stomach, Davesprite nods knowingly on the point of items appearing.]

Yeah, happened with this as well. Maybe I'll get lucky, but who the hell knows with this place.

You sure special order stuff makes a more lucrative business than just selling what you put together anyway? Not everyone's that into getting shit tailored, but having some standard items and sized stuff might lure in some of the chumpy unfasionable people who need their style improved.

[Forrest shudders. That is an awful color to try to coordinate with... well, anything, really.]

That's... certainly a unique place to keep a sword. I'm guessing it doesn't hurt at all?

[He nearly reaches out to touch it, but that seems rude.]

Mm... it might, but I don't know. I don't think I'd get nearly as much fulfillment out of mass producing clothing.

I was pretty sure there wasn't a worse colour to match than neon orange, but fuck if that didn't prove me wrong.

[His thought train there seems to be along similar lines to Forrest's, though given he knows the guy is a tailor, it's to be expected.

Tapping the sword again, Davesprite shakes his head.]

I kind of already had a hole there, so when the sword turned up and was me-coloured I pretty much put two and two together. It's just like a sheath, except way more awkward to explain away.

[As for the mass-production comment, he just nods knowingly.] Yeah, figured, but I thought I'd put the suggestion on record.

Yes... that certainly is awkward. But I suppose at least you'll always know where your weapon is.

[He's trying to be polite about it.]

It's not a bad idea, it just runs a bit counter to my sensibilities as an artist.

It's pretty much the obvious selling point for "I want you to wear a sword through your stomach", isn't it. [Davesprite doesn't seem to mind all that much - he looks freakish regardless, it's not like the sword makes much difference either way.

He has to crack a slight smile at that next point, though.]

I'm pretty sure it runs counter to most people's sensibilities as human beings with functioning organs where this is going, so I'm gonna say I'm not real offended by that one.

[Whoops. It doesn't make much difference to Davesprite either way, though, and he shrugs slightly as he corrects himself.]

Nah, my bad. And not every artist is willing to sell out to the cold hard territories of materialistic mass production, so nobody's gonna hold that against you. As long as you like the work, it's cool.

[At least being a god probably means he doesn't have to worry about the whole "starving artist" stereotype.]
