There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
  • Get some sun
  • Go for a swim
  • Make sure you're in a swimsuit
  • Enjoy the food and activities
  • Don't drown
  • Have fun~

Is that what you are?

[It seems obvious enough: not the same species as Dust is certainly a similarity he shares with everyone else he's met here. And everyone he can remember meeting, in fact. Dust's body is nothing like any youkai he's ever heard of.]

If so, then yes. You're the only one I've met.

None of this makes any sense! [He doesn't shout this, because he doesn't need to; Dust at his most intense holds carrying urgency in his voice far greater than volume could ever convey.] Least of all that.

I do understand.

[Hakkai shrugs, tilting his head to one side slightly. Yes, he looks more human than Dust -- but he's not, and his pointed ears and sharp claws draw the eye even when the vivid vine markings across his body don't.]

I'd thought youkai were a bit more common than they seem to be here, too. If you listen to the gods, it seems they haven't all come from this time and place... so we may not have either.

[Closer than Dust does by far. Warmblood ears have a great deal of variance, and he doesn't yet know that human ears do not. As for the vine markings... well, he doesn't know, but he hasn't processed them as natural yet.]

That's putting it mildly. If I knew what you were, I'd at least know what to call you. I remember language.

Yes. [Hakkai's shrug is faint.] I'm youkai. Most of the people here are human. You said you're 'warmblood'?
mithrarin: (hold onto your hat)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-01-24 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. That... that's what seems normal to me. [But there's quiet desperation in his voice, because how does he know? How could he know?]

[personal profile] reformedsinner 2017-01-25 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Then that's likely normal, where you're from.

-- I've found it's easier not to think too hard about it. Trying only stings your god, and you won't be able to remember.

[His tone is gentle. It is hard to accept. He understands too well.]
mithrarin: (whoa hold on)

[personal profile] mithrarin 2017-01-25 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
'Stings' my god? [Still catching up on all this, remember. Hasn't got a handle on it.]

[It's always useful to bring this particular topic up quickly, in Hakkai's opinion. Stinging your goddess before you even have a chance to make it back to her temple -- which he had absolutely done -- is embarrassing.]

If you feel that you've done something wrong, the guilt can cause "blight." It's a purple mark on your skin, and your god will have a matching mark.

We don't feel it, but it causes gods pain.
mithrarin: (whoa hold on)

If -- if I feel I've done something wrong, it reflects back on my god?

[But on consideration, what an effective way to keep gods from using their shinki for immoral purposes? Order Dust to kill or harm others undeservingly, get stung. That makes Dust feel a little better about it. Just a little.]

There must be quite a competition for amoral shinki, then.
