012 | The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: Beach party
When: All day June 5
Where: The beach
Summary: A beach party for all of the Far Shore residents

[01-27 Edit: Continue your threads at the overflow post to evade captcha!]

There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.

Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

In Summary:
  • Get some sun
  • Go for a swim
  • Make sure you're in a swimsuit
  • Enjoy the food and activities
  • Don't drown
  • Have fun~

On the bright side, there's now plenty of time to do it in, as far as I have been able to find out aging is no longer an issue.

[There - for the first time, a touch of eagerness to his otherwise neutral voice. A possible immortality so long as he didn't get brutally murdered in some fashion, which meant lots of time to research whatever he wanted! He didn't HAVE to pick one field if he didn't want to!]

If we're stuck like this for the forseeable future it can't hurt to try to focus a bit on the good parts.
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
If you don't disappear, first.

[Chikusa wishes he could share some of that eagerness, but it's a problem, when you're dead inside.]

...Have you heard about those yet...?

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid not. There wasn't much detail given that I can make use of beyond ... go here.

[A gesture made at the party. How is he supposed to get much relevant knowledge out of this?]

Disappear how?
kokuyoyo: (I don't do stupid things anymore.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Completely.

[A worrying statement, to be sure.]

Without any warning... They'll disappear. As will their temple... and the name they bestowed onto their shinki. No one knows what happens to them... Although it seems like it's only from 'new' gods.

...Some of the corpses.... Apparently, there were people who recognized the souls trapped in them. At least one was a god who had disappeared...
fixed_destiny: (08)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[... Yet another thing to add to the list of things to study.

He was going to have to find a more convenient way of managing that list than relying on memory.]

What happened to that particular corpse, do you know? Is it still around? I'd like to see it if so.

[And take it apart.]
kokuyoyo: (Apparently I kept telling people I was)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, it's not a lot of people that ask to see a corpse, and Chikusa pauses as he looks over him carefully.]

...Most of them wouldn't go down unless they were severely damaged. The Heavens sent out a call for gods and shinki to deal with the mess, so....

....Do you deal with corpses a lot?
fixed_destiny: (01)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Very rarely, I don't normally deal with the biological aspect of things, it's .. messy.

[And he normally ran around in a white labcoat.]

... Reasonable but unfortunate if they've been destroyed. I would have liked to see if there was any lingering effect of unnatural animation.
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Not completely destroyed, but...

[A shrug. Listen, let's just say that there's still bits of gore stuck in the streets where the festival took place.]

....What can you do? Skill-wise.
fixed_destiny: (09)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
..Nothing large enough to be worthwhile, I take it.

[That's how it goes. If it happened again he'd definitely have to capture one of those undead.

It was his duty now or something. Surely such things were a defilement of death, and that was something he'd have to see to, right?]

Many small things. Some spellcraft, a little swordsmanship. Anything that requires general lifting. In theory I have plenty of potential in both, but I admit I vastly prefer the arena of intellectual pursuits to either one.
kokuyoyo: (Tell him next time I'm going to be)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
What kind of spells?

[...Oh yeah, he should. Probably explain.]

The overall Heavens haven't seemed to have learned anything.... or aren't telling it... but people have been trying to figure out what happened...
fixed_destiny: (03)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Little of true worth I imagine. I've been.. neglecting it. A little lightning and fire, darkness of course, and healing of some cut and scrapes.

[Really he shouldn't be neglecting his skills but what was he going to fight in the castle, a moth? Maybe a mouse?]

I presume you mean 'us' when you say people, and not them. How troublesome.
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
It is. But.... some people here have a talent for it...

[A pause.]

...I didn't look at the corpses.... but I was able to find where they came from... local morgues. There was paperwork.... so I have that.
fixed_destiny: (04)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Paperwork is a start.]

I wouldn't mind having a copy, if you're willing to share. Who knows what might prove useful in the long run.

[And here he is practically signing himself up for work that isn't in his particular fields of active interest, limiting his time for the things he really wanted to do.

Well. If he was a god now he should probably at least try to prioritize SOME of the things that god was doing.]

... I suppose I should also begin brushing up on my combat skills if fighting is regularly required.

[There is the general sense of 'bleah' to that, but it goes unsaid. He enjoyed physical effort well enough but that would chew even more into his research time!]
kokuyoyo: (Tell him next time I'm going to be)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[That, at least, Chikusa can answer.]

Have you met your shinki yet?
fixed_destiny: (05)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
No. I wasn't given much to go on there as well.
kokuyoyo: (Please don't place wagers on my)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
When you find them... They should be able to protect you. It's their duty.

[...Assuming they even have a fraction of the kind of obsessive loyalty Chikusa does, anyway.]

Still, you wouldn't be useful if you died....
fixed_destiny: (09)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Unfortunately for Xehanort, his shinki is close friends with the boy who will one day be his nemesis .. if he gets any loyalty at all he'll probably be lucky.]

A god of death, dying. Hah. Still, I am not worthy of protecting if I can't defend myself even to a moderate degree. And as a vessel and weapon it relies on me to put them to the best use. ..Besides which, I wouldn't be much of a god if I allow those who look to me to be hurt needlessly.
kokuyoyo: (I mean I don't even call it a hangover)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-24 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
[sucks to be you, xehanort]

[Still, that commentary does have him nodding slightly. While it's not so much that he really cares about the situations of other shinki, it's easier to deal with someone who can defend themselves.]

Then... You'll want to see Bishamon.

[Getting out his phone from his pocket, Chikusa flicks through the BBS before showing a post to the other god.]
fixed_destiny: (07)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-24 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[It really does.

This is however the first cellphone Xehanort's ever seen, and as Chikusa pulls out the ubiquitous device and pulls up a message from some other god, there is a certain gleam of covetous interest that's risen.]

That's ... a very interesting machine you have, where did you get it?

[Bishamon. He'll have to remember that.]

kokuyoyo: (Tell him next time I'm going to be)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-25 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
It’s a phone.

[Obviously.]

….Everyone is given one… It’s for those of the Far Shore, so that we can communicate, I suppose.
fixed_destiny: (13)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-25 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Not so obviously to places that simply didn't have them.]

I haven't gotten one. How does it allow communication? Is it all text based?

[He DOES have one it's simply waiting for him patiently in his temple, because bathing suits such as the one he's currently wearing, something right out of the 1920s, does NOT have a place for a phone.]
kokuyoyo: (And the cops are back.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-25 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[He wasn't expecting to be a teacher today, but okay, he guesses. It's not like it's hard.]

There's also audio and video available as well. Anyone can leave a message to the BBS, which others can respond to... but if you have the number a phone has been assigned to, then you can send messages to an individual person.
fixed_destiny: (08)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-26 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
...Useful. I'll have to locate one.

[And then figure out how it works, and if perhaps it can contact other worlds.]

I don't suppose anyone's noticed a 'this is how you return home' clause, beyond the dissapearances.
kokuyoyo: (And the cops are back.)

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-01-27 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Not that I've heard of.

[A shrug.]

But considering the status of shinki...

[Well. It's not exactly something of importance to them. The dead don't have ways to return home, after all.]
fixed_destiny: (03)

[personal profile] fixed_destiny 2017-01-29 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
This might as well be home.

[He understands that. Why yearn for somewhere you don't remember? When the world you're in is all you know..

But Xehanort had Radiant Garden for that. That's where he'd woken up, not here..]

Not a bad one, I suppose. But a bit crowded for my tastes.
