There were certainly a lot of broken hearts and emotional roller coasters recently, so the Heavens have decided it's time to allow their people to let loose and have some fun for a little while. Through some magic - or possibly just a lot of money - they have managed to rent out an entire private beach for the event so that they won't be interrupted by any Near Shore residents. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, the ocean goes for as far as the eye can see, and rocky outcroppings offer a handy place to dive into the water on a test of courage.

It's a beautiful summer day, perfect for swimming and cracking watermelons and playing some beach volleyball. There's even some soft music permeating the air so that nothing is every silent on this fun-filled day.

New arrivals, after having been met at the Meeting Hall, would have been immediately redirected to this party. After all, they should be enjoying themselves as well.



Swimwear

Anyone who doesn't have swimwear will be provided with swimwear to fit their needs. Unfortunately, the Heavens don't have access to a lot of swimwear, so you'll likely wind up with something ugly, something old, or something just plain weird.

Playful Fish

The sea critters are excited about the party too. They're happy to swim up to anyone in the water and will even come up to the shallows to take a look at the fun happening on the shore. Toe nibbling and brushes of scales are in your future, so you'd better get used to the idea if you plan on being in the water.

Barbecue

Some basics have been provided, but everyone has been asked to bring a little something to the barbecue as well if they can. So you're more than welcome to grab one of the many grills and start frying things up. Heck, there are even fishing poles available if you feel like hauling in a few of those friendly fish to grill. Additionally, summery drinks have been provided, including iced tea, lemonade, water, and horribly fruity cocktails.

After Dark

Just because the sun is down doesn't mean that the party's stopping! The barbecue will continue well into the night, lit now by the stars and a huge, roaring bonfire. The bonfire is maintained by Amaterasu's shinki and climbs higher than any bonfire has the right to. Also, there are floating lights in the water so that people can continue swimming now that it's dark. And if you happen to get too drunk to go home, don't worry. A white-clad shinki will be happy to put you back to bed at the end of the night. Additionally, some sparklers and small bottle rockets have been provided for your entertainment.

Caught! Being in a new world, with so many new powers and purposes, it seems wise to begin educating myself as soon as possible. My own home had no such .. clutter of divinity.

[ She's pretty sure she knows everything about the various pantheons there is to know, being a Celebrity of Culture and Class, but if it keeps someone with a brain on their shoulders in good graces with her, she'll let him think he's educating her. Besides, it never hurts to have extra eyes in a crowd. ]

[Information just on what god does what and who they are isn't the only information he'll be collecting. Xehanort is very thorough.]

[Things like threat levels and combat capability and where people's weaknesses were. Where they could be hurt if necessary, or exploited. Ways to make them useful.. or get them out of the way.

Things that are perfectly reasonable to do back home, surely, so will be here as well. Right?]

It's a reasonable thing to do given the circumstances. As we'll be put to work with these people.. it's best to know where everything stands.

[ Hibiki flips a page and takes a sip. They've already established that both of them are new to this, so she isn't about to hide that.

It's a useful point of reference. We weren't dragged here from our homes and given new power for the fun of it, which suggests we are to be added to the present labor force and expected to comply.

[He'll explain his reasoning. If she DIDN'T believe it, it would be interesting to speculate over what reason she thought there could possibly be for all this nonsense.]

[ It also makes sense. But if given the chance to believe that somebody is lying to her, Hibiki will always default to thinking it's a lie. Particularly if things they're saying inconvenience or discomfit her.

Old habits die hard. ] I suppose then you'd argue that doing as we're told is in our own best interest.

"Trust, but verify" is a favored saying of my master. It seems to apply.

[For the time being. After all any lie will be found during the verification process.]

It may, or may not, be in our best interests. It depends on what we're getting out of it if we do as we're bidden. We've already been given power, what forces us to use it the way they wish us to?

Hibiki smiles. She could just be trying to be pleasant to someone she's been chatting with, or she could be implying he's in on something here. ] Is that also something you'll be researching?

[A nod. He's going to be researching everything. Including if this world had a heart and what darkness might do to it.]

If they have no stick to go with the carrot there's hardly much reason to be obedient.

...Her teacup is running low. Hibiki reaches for the pitcher, then recalls she's got a second cup here. Normally she doesn't share, but - ] Tea?

[ It suits her sense of dramatics, okay. ]

[He'll find out in time one way or another. And if there was no real reason to obey, he would do exactly as he pleased. Which for the moment didn't really mean a whole lot of bad but eventually..

Being offered tea startles him out of his thoughts. Hot drink, hot day..]

Yes please.

[And it would frankly be rude to refuse.]

I'm afraid I have naught to offer in return.

[ It's iced tea, sorry. But she's kept it in the shade, so hopefully it should still be mostly tea and less melted-ice-cube.

Hibiki pours out the cups with the pitcher held higher than most people would hold it, but still manages to avoid spilling a drop. ] Think nothing of it.

[ Here you are. On a coaster and everything. ]

[Icecube watered down tea never killed anybody!

Her skill with not getting tea everywhere in the process suggests that perhaps there's a reason she got a god that specialized in theatrics. She seemed awfully good at performance herself even in such small gestures.]

Sweeter than he liked, but he didn't like sweet at all so that didn't say much.]

[ Hibiki snorts before she remembers she's acting smoother than that around this gentleman - but still manages to sound dignified, somehow. Just that good, she supposes.

She takes a sip of her own tea before replying, lingering to enjoy the flavor. ] A true god requires no handler.

[ She has not.

She does not even believe this person exists. ]

From what I understand of their nature, they are our weapons.

[He pauses, considering her, her bearing, and what she's said and done til now. No, frankly Xehanort can't imagine her fighting monsters. Ever.]

It may be wise to consider an alternative weapon if the monsters they claim are everywhere are as keen on hunting us as they supposedly are. One that can't talk back perhaps.

[ Hibiki does always keep a spare glove on her person in case she needs to challenge someone to a duel. But that is, admittedly, not quite the same thing.

She also owns a sword she usually carries everywhere in hammerspace but it didn't come with her (she checked). So she inclines her head in response to that last statement. ] It seems you've already taken everything into consideration.

Not as much as it seems.

[That's either a bit of humbleness or genuine, it's impossible to tell which.]

I intend to find mine. I imagine they're in the same situation, and they may be useful in getting out of it. I don't intend to spend eternity here.

[ She's not worried. Not about the servant, and not about eternity. A servant, in and of itself, would be useful, but all that extra blather that came with it sounds completely unnecessary. Suspect, even.

I really should return to that search. In theory I will recognize this person on sight.

[And yet he's not going anywhere, or making a move to. There was tea to enjoy and notes to take with his other hand, some of which seeming to just be theories.]

[ At this rate, she might just need a new category in her head for people sorting. You're not "genius" material, not quite. But you also aren't an "idiot". And you're interesting.

Stay or go, she's opposed to neither. ]
