[closed] filling up this house will take some work but it's a start

Who: Hope (

holyorder) and the new addition to the household, Slaine (

adept)
What: A shinki is reassigned to Hope, and he takes time to bond with his shinki.
When: A little after Slaine loses his old god and has had time to process.
Where: Hope's house that he refuses to call a temple.
Warnings: Bit of angst, bit of awkwardness, but nothing trigger-worthy.

[Naming a new shinki is really strange, but Hope thinks the worst part is seeing how the person dies. He's had to do it with Ky, and now he has to do it with his new shinki, and Hope clenches his hand into a fist in an attempt to stop the trembling as the images flash through his head.

Hope, at least, isn't the type to sob even if he witnesses terrible things. He simply rubs a hand to his head and waits for the scene to end, sighing when it's finally over.]

We should... [Pause. Swallow. Get his voice back to levels that don't sound hoarse.]

We should talk to my other shinki and let him know.

[Hope beckons his new companion to follow him, heading out into the hallways and calling:]

[ Ky is instantly up and jogging over towards the source of the voice, recognizing it as his God's. It doesn't sound like an emergency, but he moves quickly anyway. There's no reason to keep someone waiting when he wasn't doing anything of importance.

He slows his pace when he spots Hope and the familiar young man near him. Slaine, wasn't it? They had met before — during the festival with the boats. Ky addresses Hope first. ]

Yes, sir? Is everything all right?

[Slaine trails after Hope quietly, finding himself unsure of what else he should do. He recalls when Yuuki was assigned another god, and now he feels her worries as his own as to what it could mean... but recalling what Kazuma had said on the BBS, he's done his best to tamp down on those thoughts.

Push them aside. Don't linger on them. Don't hurt the god he's been reassigned to.

It seems too easy - alarmingly so - to cause harm to gods, after reading that post.

Rather than interrupt when Ky greets Hope, he simply hovers behind him without a word. He'll wait his turn, as seems polite. This situation is probably new for all of them, besides]

Ky... [That's a whine, a surprisingly child-like whine from a teenager who's been nothing but mature since his arrival in the Far Shore. Ky just managed to do that to him by calling him that embarrassing title.

Hope huffs and puffs a little more, realizing how he wont be able to break Ky so easily of that habit (definitely ex-military, Hope thinks) and just moves on.]

This is Slaine. [Waves a hand at the man behind him.]

He's going to be with us now.

[ Ky gives Hope an apologetic look and a slight duck of his head. The title had slipped out without a thought, still a bad habit from Heaven knows where. He's trying, though. It might take a little longer, but his formality with others just isn't an easy behavior to break.

At the introduction, however, he glances over to the other young man. ] I've met him before. [ He gives a cordial nod to Slaine in greeting. ] A pleasure to see you again, Slaine.

[ He looks back to his God. ] But why will he be staying with us? Has something happened?

[Slaine unconsciously straightens his posture when Ky addresses him, not that it had slacked all that much. A habit he hasn't noticed yet]

Good to see you too.

[He manages to slip that in before Ky's back to questioning his god. Or...their god now. That'll take some getting used to. The words are just a soft murmur, hardly wanting to interrupt even if he's presently the object of conversation. Manners are important, he's quite sure of this, regardless of not knowing why that is.

Ky asked something he might be able to answer himself, but would that be rude? Perhaps it would be good, to address what he can]

My goddess is gone.

[They're soft, solemn words. He takes care to sound calm, takes care to be calm. It's easier now than it was before]

[Hope reaches out towards Slaine and pats him on his arm. It's a weak show of comfort, but Hope doesn't think hugging him is appropriate right now-- because he doesn't know when hugs are appropriate.]

Yeah. [What else can he say?]

I found him in one of the spare bedrooms, and I couldn't tell him to just go.

[Now he turns to Slaine.]

You can stay in that room if you want, or find another room for yourself. Do you have... personal possessions in her temple? Stuff you need to get?

I can help you move any of your belongings, [ Ky offers.

He may have been merely curious before, but now he understands this is a rather serious situation. He didn't realize their gods could disappear, and it makes him wonder about what could be the cause of it. But first thing is first — he should help Slaine settle. If the younger man was close to his god, then support would be what he might need the most. ]

Any room is fine. Whichever wouldn't be trouble should do.

[Truth be told, Slaine isn't even sure just how he ended up in Hope's temple. That would have been all the more jarring if Yuuki hadn't already mentioned her own experiences. One god disappeared and suddenly she found herself with another, without any real explanation.

When asked about personal possessions, he considers briefly. Did he have much of anything much that he needed to move?]

I don't really have much by way of belongings, but...I need to go get Lily.

[Slaine didn't have very much for himself, just yet. But he couldn't leave Lily alone in Dal Dal's temple, and he had some supplies for her there. Food, dishes, and other necessary accouterments for a growing kitten]

[Hope is about to open his mouth and say that Slaine isn't going to be any trouble at all when he's a person too, not some old rusted toy that should be set aside, but then he stops at the mention of a name.

A person's name?]

Lily?

[Hope signals to Ky-- definitely time for both of them to accompany Slaine.]

Then we should go. I don't think you'd know your way to the temple from here... but you know where it is from some common areas of the Shore, right?

[ Ky nods at the signal, going into Serious Duty Mode in less than a second. He straightens up and prepares to march next to his god and his new comrade, Slaine, to their next destination. With his rigid posture and uniform, he'll likely give the image of some kind of bodyguard for the two rather than someone casually walking with a group.

Unfortunately, he also doesn't know where the other gods' temples are. Perhaps he needs to venture out further in order to familiarize himself with the areas. He keeps that in mind for the future; for now, this is about Slaine. ]

If not, then I can scout ahead to ask for directions while you two find a room to settle within this temple.

[It's plain on Slaine's features that he didn't expect the two to accompany him. Surely Hope and Ky had more pressing business to attend to...but it's a kindness, and he recognizes it as such. Perhaps it would be rude, telling them there wasn't a need.

In this situation, he doesn't find himself entirely sure]

I should be able to navigate there from a common area.

[He'd done his share of exploring, in the short while since finding he'd been made a shinki. Getting his bearings had seemed important, and Dal Dal had errands for him that helped in that area too.

Even if they never could agree on what constituted necessities]

...Although I wouldn't want to trouble either of you, with all this.

[Don't be stupid, Hope almost says, but holds his tongue on being rude. He knows Slaine is just trying to find his feet again after this, and making rude, insensitive remarks like that wont help one bit.

So instead, Hope grabs him by the elbow and hangs there like he's going to stay the entire time.]

No, let's all go. Just in case we need more hands.

[Because Ky is big and burly enough to do some heavy lifting.]

Let's go. [And like a tiny force to be reckoned with, Hope starts moving towards the front doors.]

[ If Ky had his memories and could miraculously read minds, he'd find that Hope is the first person to consider him "burly". Oh, the woes of having ridiculously buff friends.

But that isn't the case, so we'll move on.

He's pleased that Hope is insisting on doing this as a team and follows the two without protest. Hope may seem young and small, but so far he's made good choices that Ky finds himself gladly agreeing with. Hopefully, Slaine will feel the same. ]

This is no trouble at all, Slaine. [ He says to their new ally. ] We must be here to help each other, no matter how small or great the task. Please do not think of your needs as bothersome.

[He'd been pushed and dragged around by his goddess in the past, but it's a different experience having Hope steer him along like this. It's impossible for him to fend off the surprise that darts across his features for an unguarded instant, not having expected the insistence that they all needed to go. After all, he only needed to collect his kitten and her supplies.

Regardless of his own thoughts, he still follows along all the same. It seems that even if he doesn't feel the need to take up their time this way, they still want to accompany him...

And he supposes Ky has a point. They'll be working together now, won't they?]

It's not very much to move, I think...

[If anything he should be able to carry it all, himself. He hadn't been around enough to accumulate all that much]
