Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!



Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.



Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

There are, but I haven't seen any of them fight at the same skill level as the older people here either. And if they did, it wouldn't be from experience they got here.

[Honestly, all Shun's trying to get her to do here is be realistic about it. He knows himself how frustrating it can be to feel like you can't help, but Nanako is at a more disadvantageous starting point than most people here.]

[ Hmm. She guesses that's true. Even though Goten can fly and Homura can do things like stop time.

She huffs out a sigh, wrapping her arms around her legs and propping her chin atop her knees. ]

I guess. I just don't want to be a bother. I want to help people, too. I'm a god, isn't that what I'm here for?

[It's a little sobering to see, a child this young burdened with the responsibility of godhood instead of just being able to live her life, but Shun knows well enough that there's not much that can be done about it.

Crouching down is starting to get painful at this point, so Shun briefly rearranges himself into a sitting position instead, leaning back on one hand.]

As a god, it's also up to you to decide how you want to help people. It's not always going to be through fighting, and there are things you as a god would bring to the table that others wouldn't. [Optimism, for one thing, and a child's perspective.]

[ She tilts her head, thinking that over as she rocks slightly where she's curled up. ]

But what about the bad spirits?

You'll have your shinki to work with on ayakashi. That's about how well you work together, and for the more dangerous ones, often you'll have the rest of the Heavens behind you.

[There seems to be something here that's still troubling her, though, and Shun considers her previous remarks before adding one more thing.] That's the kind of situation where calling for help wouldn't be what anyone would call a bother, too. Plenty of people here are only too ready to help others.

[It's difficult to tell what he thinks of that, from the neutrality of his tone.]

[ That gives her pause and she glances up at him, searching his face, ]

I can call for help? That's okay?

[There's a look of surprise that passes over Shun's face very briefly at that - the idea that a kid this young would think calling for help isn't an okay thing to do is a little disturbing. And that's taking into consideration all the horrors he's seen around kids in his world.

His tone is very firm when he speaks again, the manner of someone speaking with conviction.]

Of course. Nobody who isn't cruel or an idiot would begrudge you calling for help in a situation like that. Hell, I've chewed people older than you out for not calling for help when they couldn't deal with an ayakashi.

Hmmm. [ She thinks that over very seriously for a moment before glancing up at him again. ]

Okay, I can do that! Maybe then it won't be so scary.

If you have people you trust with you, a lot of things become less daunting. [In that moment, there's a note of familiarity in Shun's voice, though there's also something that's a bit more downbeat and wistful about it. Even compared to back home, the list of people he trusts here is woefully limited.]

[ That has Nanako pausing to search his face. ]

Does that mean I can call you for help, too?

[ Since it was narrowing this down to call people she trusted to help in a fight. ]

[Given how observant Shun tends to be, he notices that searching look of Nanako's, and he hesitates himself as if to figure out why she's doing it. However, that also means he's looking very directly at her when she asks that question, and the flicker of very obvious surprise that crosses his face is much more visible than he would have liked it to be.

At this point, he supposes, he should be used to people deciding they trust him after two meetings. But it doesn't settle him much more with the prospect of Nanako seeing how he acts in an actual fight.]

If you ever need me, then fine. I wouldn't have suggested it if I wasn't prepared to agree.

[ His answer has her face lighting up, smile bright and cheerful again as she nods her head in acknowledgment. ]

Okay! Thank you! That makes me feel better.

[It seems to take Shun a moment to decide how he feels about that, but eventually, he gives a slight and brief smile back. It's not a frequent expression for him, as may be obvious.]

That's good, then. [Returning to his standard neutrality, he considers for a moment before adding something else.] Depending on which pantheon you're in, it might be worth finding other gods from it. There are a lot of people here determined to treat others in their pantheon like family.

[ She's heard that word, but she's not entirely sure what it means. ]

A group of gods associated with a certain culture. The god I'm supposed to represent, Nekhbet, is part of the Egyptian pantheon.

[At least, that's Shun's understanding of the concept as someone who's still not exactly a faithful or religious sort even being here.]

[ Nanako looks fascinated by that. ]

What if I don't know what pan.... pantheon my god is from? I just know she was a really old god. Is there somewhere I can find out?

[When she mentions being a really old god, Shun nods rather knowingly.]

Nekhbet and most of the rest of my pantheon were worshipped in ancient Egypt, not modern, so that's not uncommon. [And...well, there's one extremely obvious answer to the question of finding out what pantheon her god is from, and Shun simply reaches into his back pocket and pulls out his phone.]

What's your god name?

[ Nanako looks curious at the question, head tilted to the side. ]

Nanshe. Why?

[If there's one thing the Heavens can actually be relied upon for, it's a decent internet connection, and Shun types the name into his phone as soon as she says it.]

Sumerian pantheon, then. [And immediately upon that being said, Shun hesitates, because he knows that rings a bell.]

...There is at least one other person from your pantheon here, then.

[ Her expression brightens. ]

There is? Do you know who?

[That's one way to put it, and Shun gives her a short nod.] Remember when I told you I only trained one person in fighting? It's that person. Suzugamori Ren, or Inanna as a god. I think he'd like meeting you.

[Partially because Ren seems to do that sort of thing much better than he does, and partially because he's seen Ren willingly entertaining kids before, so he can't imagine him not liking Nanako.]

[ Another name she hasn't heard before, but as she doesn't know what Sumerian is, that's probably not surprising. ]

Is he nice?

Yes. Represents love and war, apparently. [Or at least, that's the biggest detail he remembers other than the whole "accompanied by lions" thing. Which in Ren's case, is more "accompanied by kittens, sometimes, if you catch him at his temple".]

He's very friendly and seems to like kids, so I think you'd both get on. [And if she thinks Shun's nice, there's no way in hell she won't think Ren's nice.]

[ Kittens, though! She's sold. ]

If you don't think he'd mind, then I'd like to meet him!

[Thankfully, Shun knows Ren should still be here somewhere (in theory, unless he's drifted off to something else, but with the focus he's been giving to his training lately that shouldn't be the case here). So when Nanako says that, he stands up, offering her his hand in case she's still a little worn out and needs it.]

Then let's go find him. I was training with him earlier, so he might still be here.
