Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[ Nanako hangs back, partially angled behind Shun's legs to hide in a fit of shyness as they approach the stranger. ]

[Well, that makes it slightly harder for Shun to walk properly, but he's also not going to make Nanako come out from behind there if she doesn't want to. While Shun doesn't wave, he at least raises a hand back in acknowledgement of Ren's gesture as they approach.]

I was wondering if you were still here. I have someone for you to meet. [Though it's probably a little obvious even if she is trying to hang back, Shun glances down at Nanako, tilting his head slightly as if to coax her forwards.]

Remember what I said. [It's a rather gentle reminder; he did mention that Ren was friendly, so if that's what she's worried about, he's hoping it might ease the shyness a bit.]

[Ren blinks a little at him before turning his attention to the girl. She must be someone very special for Shun to want to introduce them, although...she doesn't look like the picture of his sister, so it can't be that...

And she's a little shy. All right. Ren smiles brightly and leans a little to the side to give her a much smaller wave.]

Hi~! I'm Suzugamori Ren. Are you one of Kurosak-ki's friends too?

[ Nanako peeks out again at the friendly voice, still feeling shy. But she's supposed to be a god and this is one of Shun's friends so she tries to be brave and steps out to stand beside him with a nervous smile, nodding her head. ]

Yeah. I'm Nanako. Shun said you're nice.

[...So Shun might've said Ren was friendly because it's a fact, but it's still odd to him hearing it put like that, maybe because he so rarely gives public opinions on others that don't involve thinking they're an idiot. Though he doesn't outright dismiss the remark, he turns his head away slightly in a manner that kind of gives away he's trying to move off the topic of what he might've told Nanako about Ren.]

I suggested she look for others in her pantheon to help her out if she needs it. Turns out she's in yours.

[Which probably explains the "special" element that lent itself to Shun deciding this introduction was necessary.]

[It is a little surprising to hear that Shun told her that, not just because it was Shun who said it but that also isn't the usual adjective that gets applied to him. What isn't too surprising is that Shun seems embarrassed about it--

But his distraction is successful, because any thoughts of teasing him about it fly out the window as soon as he says that. Someone from his pantheon??? He claps his hands together, looking absolutely delighted.]

Really? I haven't met anyone else from my pantheon before! Who did they say you are, Nanako-san?

[ She looks excited too, because this is the first time she's learning about it, too. ]

I'm Nanshe! [ She announces, a little more of the shyness melting away as she clasps her hands behind her back and smiles at the other man. ] I'm still learning about her, though. I never heard of her before I came here. She was the god of a lot of things.

[While this part of the conversation doesn't so much relate to Shun, seeing he was right and that they both already seem to be getting on well strikes a certain chord with him. Initially he thinks it's just pride from the accurate guess, but after a moment to consider, it doesn't really feel quite the same as that.

It just feels...nice, he supposes, to watch a friend and a kid get on so well. Or maybe two friends, depending on how he looks at it.

As it is, he'll leave them to continue their pantheon talk for the moment, looking to one side in an attempt to cover up the slight, but rapidly getting harder to hide smile that's creeping onto his face.]

[Nanshe...doesn't sound familiar from the various research he's done into Inanna, so he very quickly pulls out his phone to look it up, since there's a good chance Shun's already mentioned the basics about him.]

You're right, there's a lot--Oh, fertility, I have fertility too...Eeeeh, this says that in some myths, we're sisters...

[It would seem he'll have to look back over Inanna's pages again...but later. For now, he smiles at Nanako again as he set the phone down in his lap.]

She sounds really neat. I think you'll have a lot of fun.

Sisters? [ Nanako's eyes widen a bit at that in surprise. ] Really?

All I learned so far was that she took care of widows and orphans who got lonely and hurt after wars, because I think there was a lot of those. And she liked fishing!

What god are you?

[Well, Shun wasn't quite expecting them to maybe be godly siblings, and that makes it even more difficult to hide his expression over the situation, because even if he's vehemently against treating pantheon relationships as real relationships himself, they both seem happy enough with the idea that it's a little endearing to see.

When Nanako mentions one specific part of Nanshe's domain, though - the thing about orphans after wars - an expression of reluctant but complete understanding creeps onto his face instead, and he decides that someone's going to notice soon enough if he keeps looking away and staying out of the conversation. However, Nanako's last question gives him a stepping-off point to look down at her with a slight raised brow.]

I told you that earlier, didn't I? He's Inanna. [Then again, maybe she forgot the name.]

Yep, it says here "in some myths...the sister of Inanna". [He waves his hand a little to say "that's me!" That and Shun's comment are probably enough to answer the question.]

Inanna was the Queen of Heaven, and she dealt with a lot of things too but mostly love, war, and fertility. She even went to the underworld once, and she had lions...I don't have lions, though; I have kittens instead.

Oops? [ She might have been distracted by the rest of what you'd been saying at the time, Shun. At least she's completely oblivious to the looks and expressions happening over her head. ]

Kittens?

[ You said the magic word. Nanako loves those! ]

My big brother has lots of cats, too! But I don't know if that's cuz he's a god or just cuz they like when he goes fishing.

[ A pause as she peers at him thoughtfully a moment. ] Can you do magic?

[At this point, Shun still hasn't gotten around to finding Nanako's big brother, so his guess is probably as good as hers on the front of why he has lots of cats. Still, he shrugs slightly as he considers the most likely of the options.]

It depends on if his god is associated with them. I wouldn't have vultures if they weren't what Nekhbet is supposed to be represented by, because they came with the temple.

[As for Nanako's last question, Shun's mostly just waiting to see what kind of answer Ren gives that, because to him it just seems out of left field.]

Eeeh, you have a brother, Nanako-san? That must be fun! I don't have any siblings, so I wouldn't really know...

[And to be honest, he'd be perfectly happy if they could stay on the topic of siblings a little longer, but alas, it's not meant to be. His smile falters ever so slightly at the question--but it's not like he only has the one power anymore, so he manages to recover quickly.]

Kind of. Do you want to see it?

[ Nanako considers that a moment. ]

He didn't say anything about cats. Iza... Izanagai helped make Japan, though! And a lot of the other gods, he's a dad! But maybe he likes cats too? [ That hadn't really come up when Souji had introduced her to his ~~Persona~~ god. ] But yeah, Souji-oniichan is the best! He's really nice.

[ When Ren offers that, her eyes go wide with anticipation as she leans forward. ] Yeah! Can I?

[Shun picks up on that falter from Ren, however brief, and it takes him a moment to match it to what Ren must be thinking of. Though his gaze lingers for a moment or two, once Ren seems to have gotten past it, he turns his attention back to Nanako.

For his part, Shun would much rather not remain on the topic of siblings, and the hand that isn't holding Nanako's clenches without him really noticing, even if his answer is as level and neutral as ever.]

Probably. If it's not something to do with his god, I doubt they were already in the temple, so he would have had to bring them here. Nobody goes to that much effort for something they don't like.

[Ren nods and glances around like he's trying to be sneaky about this (after all, he doesn't usually show this off to just anyone). Then his body suddenly fades into a dark, featureless shadow that seems to blend into and pop right out of the shadow of the tree.]

Yep. My cats didn't come with my temple either. My shinki brought them home one day. [He waves both of his hands to say "ta-da!"] What do you think? It's a good trick, right?

I think cats just like my big brother. They showed up at our house back home all the time too, once he moved in. I think he gave them fish he caught sometimes.

[ It's said musingly, because while she'd never seen Souji purposefully bring a cat back with him, their numbers had certainly increased the longer he lived with them. But she didn't mind either, because that meant there were more to play with.

Nanako waits with baited breath as she waits for Ren to show her his magic and when he melts into a shadow, her eyes go wide and she claps her hands over her mouth in surprise. ]

Whoa! That's amazing!

[There's a brief look of sourness on Shun's face at the mention of Ren's shinki, because he's pretty sure he knows exactly which shinki he means and isn't any more enamoured with him than he was when Ren still had him. But he lets it slide as Ren turns himself into a shadow, even if he looks vastly less impressed given he's seen the transformation quite a few times by this point.]

It's useful, as well. If there's anything that could hit him in that form, I haven't seen it yet.

[He can still appreciate the practical side of it, though.]

[Ren laughs a little and waves one of his hands through the water bottle sitting next to him just to prove them point.]

I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Every power has a weakness. But you don't have to look at it so practically all the time either.

[Shadow Ren creeps forward a bit and then suddenly turns back into his usual solid self and he leans forward to "whisper" conspiratorially to Nanako.]

I think Kurosak-ki's magic is much better than mine, though.

Can you go through walls and things too?

[ She makes a quiet squeak when he turns solid again right in front of her, but giggles to show she's not really frightened. When he leans in and whispers that, she turns a wide, curious gaze on Shun once more. ]

I think I saw it. Is that what you did to the leaf? [ she asks, directing the question to Shun this time. ]

You know I don't take well to looking at things any other way. [Or at least, Shun's never particularly tried to hide the fact, and Ren is around him often enough to have noticed by this point. It's still hard these days for him to try looking at something in a manner that isn't just practical.

When Nanako directs that question towards him, Shun nods a little in confirmation.]

That's the only thing I can do that anyone would call "magic".

[Ren hums a little as he thinks about that.]

I don't know. I haven't tried that yet.

[He may have had a thought about certain other more gruesome things he might be able to pass his hand through and decided he didn't want to think about it anymore (although Shun would probably appreciate the practicality of it).

He nods a little as Nanako hits on exactly the "magic" he was thinking of, although he is a teeny tiny bit disappointed that she's already seen it so he probably won't show it off now.]

It's really amazing, isn't it?

It is!

[ She still looks excited over it, even if she had learned about it earlier. ]

The people here that can do magic make it look really neat! There's lots of different kinds!

[ She may have been doing a lot of research of her own. ]
