Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

[Nami lifts one eyebrow at that reaction. What's his problem? She idly taps her staff against her shoulder in a gesture of impatience.]

Yeah, that's right. Got a problem?

[90% of her reaction is pure defense mechanism.]

[ 90% of his reaction is pure PUT ON A SHIRT! ]

Y-you! No! What are you....?! [ No he can't just ask her that, that would probably get him punched, he's at least got that much self-preservation. ~~Sometimes.~~

Besides, his moment of sputtering in the face of her forthright confrontation gives him another long moment of realizing that he feels a weird pull from her and it has his head snapping up with a new intensity on his face. That luckily makes it easier to ignore the whole.... lack of a shirt... thing. ]

Wait, what did you say?

[Her? What does he even think he's rejecting it's not like this was her idea! It doesn't occur to her that he's embarrassed-- yet. Nami knits her eyebrows and shifts her stance, causing one hip to sassily stick out to the side.]

I asked if you had a problem with being my shinki. Well? If you do, you better speak up now.

[ Ah, crap. So much for good first impressions, but then again he hadn't expected to be given to someone like... someone like... He doesn't know how to finish that sentence other than "her".

Also not something he's going to say out loud. Look, for once he's not being completely stupid! ]

No! I mean... Am I really? [ He's new, okay? ] What god are you?

[...It is getting really hard to maintain any sense of tough-girl-in-charge here. For his sake, she's hiding the compassion she feels for him, resisting the urge to just go up to the kid and hug him, because no one should die that young. But even if he didn't seem to have any sort of discomfort with her as it was, having a stranger go up to him crying and embracing him surely would cause it.

She sighs a bit and her tone softens.]

According to them or according to me? I'm Nami, a rotten girl who likes money and sailing the world. If you're buying into the system here, my name is Njord.

[ Please don't hug him. He might literally faint. Or just ooze into a senseless puddle on the ground. ]

Njord?

[ From his confused repetition, it's clear that he doesn't recognize that god name. Not that he's an expert by any stretch of the imagination. ]

What are you, the god of pirates or something?

[ ...Actually, on second thought, that sounds pretty awesome. He could get behind that. ]

That's rude!

[Nami's tone is 100% scandalized.]

Why would you even say a thing like that?

[ Why is that rude? Pirates are cool. ]

Eh? I dunno. Isn't that what pirates do? Sail around the world and get lots of money?

[ Maybe that was just in movies and manga, though... ]

All I said is that I liked money and sailing. Don't make me sound like some bloodthirsty plunderer!

[ He blinks, because apparently he struck a nerve?

Yata holds up his hands in surrender, because wow, he's clearly making a great first impression on his god here. ]

Riiiight. Sorry?

As long as you understand.

[Sorry kid, she can't have you going around referring to her as a pirate god. It's just not prudent if it's possible to avoid the association.]

Anyway, you can call me Nami. I don't have any intentions of taking up the other name as a default. If you're okay being my shinki, show me a bit more of what you can do.

[She nods to the staff.]

[ Whatever you say, Pirate God. ]

Nami, huh? I'm Yata. [ Because he doesn't like giving his first name out to anyone. Even if she is his god.

When she nods at the weapon he holds, he glances down at it with a hesitant look for a moment, pausing. But then he takes a deep breath and squares his shoulders, pushing away his doubts and letting his body settle into what felt like a familiar defensive pose. ]

Alright. But I have to show myself at the same time. I've got no idea what I'm doing with this. It just feels.... familiar.

[ And because it did, he can easily lift it, spinning the stave into a fast spin, twirling the weapon around and behind him before bringing it back around in front and dropping into a ready stance for attack. ]

[Yata, okay. Nami can't tell him, but she knows he's right to find the staff familiar. She saw him using one in his death scene.]

All right.

[And she moves back enough to give him some room and watches. When he strikes his ready stance, she gives her own staff a spin.]

Not bad.

[More than not bad.]

[ He actually brightens a little at the praise, grin flitting brief and quick across his lips as he casts her a sideways glance, as if surprised by it. Then he looks sheepish about preening under the praise, glancing away and scratching his cheek nervously. ]

Really?

Really! I definitely think you've found the right weapon. It seems to be coming like second nature to you.

That's good, right?

[ This whole new start thing is really confusing and overwhemling still. But at least his god seemed... nice? He flicks another sideways glance at her, shifting from one foot to the other in an unconscious show of nerves. ]

I, uh, don't know how good I am at... anything, really. But I'll try my best. They didn't tell me a lot about what I'm supposed to be doing, though, other than being useful to you.

Of course it is!

[She leaves that at that, and allows herself a few moments before trying to respond to his other statement-- about being useful. She knows what he means but... it rubs her wrong. Really wrong.

First she'll maintain the cheer though.]

I appreciate that! If you want to help then we'll get along great.

[And then, just slightly, her enthusiasm softens, and her tone, while remaining warm, becomes more serious.]

But you know, I would like to be clear on one thing... 'Use' is a banned word for how we work together. People weren't meant to be tools.

[ Yata looks a little surprised by that, blinking at her for a moment before glancing around the Training Center, as if he were waiting to see if this was a joke. ]

Uhh, really? Because that's not... what they made it sound like? Isn't that why I'm here?

[Yeah, that just about is how they made it sound. It's still bullshit if you ask her.]

...Is that what you want for yourself?

[ This conversation isn't going at all how he expected a meeting with his god to go. ]

....I get a say in that? I mean... I don't know? I haven't really had time to think about it.

[That's progress at least.]

...I can't speak for what they intended for you. But I'm telling you here and now, I'm not participating in any system of oppression. If you're willing to fight beside me, I'll gladly welcome your help. And if you ever want to leave, tell me. I'll release you, no strings attached.

[ He blinks at her a moment, still surprised, but he doesn't actually object to any of that. Which is why he just shrugs, accepting, and holds his hand out to her with a hint of a rueful grin. ]

Alright. Deal. I can work with that.

[Nami smiles back and shakes the offered hand. A team-up it is.]
