013 | Down To Business

Who: Everyone!
What: Training
When: Morning June 16
Where: Bishamon's temple
Summary: Training sessions for everyone to learn more about their abilities and jobs!

Many people have been wanting to know more about their abilities and what they are required to do here in the Far Shore. So, in conjunction with Bishamonten, the Heavens have seen fit to offer an open training session for everyone to participate in. Here you will be able to learn anything and everything about what you should be able to do and what is expected of you in your new positions.

Bishamon's temple is sweeping and gorgeous, having previously been home to hundreds of shinki. She has graciously offered to hold this training session and will be available to help anyone who needs it.

Equipment

Various kinds of mannequins and dummies have been provided for practice, as well as targets that are either stationary or move, depending on your will. Punching bags, jumping blocks, and a large pool area have also been provided for your use, so that you can find a tool for pretty much anything that you might need to practice. Plenty of practice weapons of various weights, sizes, and shapes are also available upon request from any of the many white-clad shinki that are also attending today.

God Training

Bishamon herself will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of you. It is also encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Shinki Training

Various shinki are available to help with shinki training, including Kazuma and all of Bishamon's shinki. Additionally, the white-clad shinki will be more than happy to train you on using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is also encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies. Random groupings can be provided by the mods or you may come up with your own groupings together.

Refreshments

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're even just taking a quick break to cool down. The Heavens want you to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Use the state of the art equipment
  • Learn about your job
  • Form groups to practice
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

[He looks at her pointedly, but his expression turns to confusion, and then just a flat state. Obviously, he doesn't agree.]

I've spent enough time trying to live up to someone else's ideas of worthiness. And I don't believe in this 'Niflheim' as the only other option to here. There are plenty of other places to go--and places I would much rather be.

[And certain places he'd finally been en route to.]

You are wrong. [Flat, blunt, and merciless.] Do not be mistaken by the mantle I hold here. Osiris is the title I am given, but no matter what god they name me here, I remain the Valkyrie -- Chooser of the Slain, governor of fates, and arbiter of the deceased.

[She is not arrogant in her statement, simply cold and matter-of-fact. This is the truth she knows; heed it well.]

[Danikken's earned some pretty interesting titles as well, and he, like her, thinks that the newest one is just another addition, like a bead on a string, and probably not the biggest nor the brightest. He sighs heavily.]

I meant I want to go home. [It really wasn't his intention to wage some kind of war regarding faith and what happens when you die. It seems a ridiculous battle at the best of times, and quite obviously silly at this time.]

On the other hand, if you're experienced as Valkyrie, Governor-of-Fates, then maybe you should consider taking the name Shai-of-Destiny as well. I don't like it personally, and I'm trying not to let it stick.
nibelungvalesti: (what?!)

If you were chosen to be here, it is because you are needed to be here. Were this Asgard, you would be facing Ragnarok... Do you believe a crisis so great that the heavens must grant godhood to mortals will simply go away if you go home? That you can ignore such a crisis, as if it somehow would not affect you?

[More and more, Lenneth believes this one should indeed have been condemned to Niflheim. Where is his bravery, his righteousness?
maesheteyrah: (hello)

Chosen to be here by who? [His voice came out a bit sharp, but after a careful frown, he takes a deep breath to try to relieve some of his own tension.]

It's not that I think you are wrong, or that what you believe is incorrect, Valkyrie. But I can't place my faith blindly, especially in something that's claiming to be heaven or gods. I don't know what this crisis is, or what part I'm expected to play in it. All I know is that I won't allow myself to be used.

[Ever again.]

You consider being given the power of a god, and the choice to answer the prayers of mortals, 'being used'? [This attitude she understands -- many of her comrades in Asgard feel much the same. What do they owe mortals? Why should they give them any notice?]

[He nods immediately at the question.]

What you call I choice is what I would call obligation. I've been a prophet for the gods for my whole life. I'm not grateful for any perceived powers--everything always comes with a price. And I believe I paid that price many times over.

[He eyes her carefully, his words honest but not exactly regretful.] I know I'm being selfish. But there will always be another person to save, always another task to do, until I have nothing left. And then if I give up everything to keep saving everyone, who will be there to save me?

The answer is no one. To be a god is to have a lonely existence, serving others, fulfilling some duty to the whole of humanity while your own humanity fades away. I would rather live powerless in a shack with the person I love than live in heaven alone.
nibelungvalesti: (and I ruuuuuun)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2017-02-24 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Live powerless in a shack with your beloved and you will lose that beloved to the first man or woman who comes upon your shack with a sword and the will to do as they wish. Hide away from the world and its doom will still come upon you.

[The Valkyrie does not speak with any particular animosity or anger, but her words are sharp and cutting.]

You cannot avoid danger, conflict, and hardship. If you try, it will catch you anyway, and you will be as responsible for the harm caused to everything you care about it as if you had put it to the torch yourself. Such is the price of being unprepared out of willful ignorance. You speak of the price of power, yet powerlessness has its own price as well, and without power you cannot negotiate that price.
maesheteyrah: (stop to smell the roses)

[personal profile] maesheteyrah 2017-02-27 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
But what's the point? If there's a price to pay regardless, then don't I have the right to choose a sliver of happiness before that price is paid?

[He swallows, because suddenly all those emotions from years ago come bubbling to the surface and there's not much he can do to hold them back.] I left my wife to do what the gods told me to do. Because I thought I was how the world would be saved. And you know what I realized? [His words drip with bitterness, and all that he's lost.] It didn't need to be saved.

I don't mind dying. I just want it to happen when I'm living my life.
nibelungvalesti: (hands clasped)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2017-02-27 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
If you constantly seek meaning and happiness outside of what life brings you, you will die without it. Reach for your dreams by all means, but you are not Odin, nor a goddess of fate. If you do not find something in what you do have to give you strength and purpose, you will go without.

[Life is cruel and fate often so. Wishing it was otherwise will only lead to despair.]

[personal profile] maesheteyrah 2017-02-28 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head. Her words made it sound like they were both finally agreeing on something, but at the same time it seemed like they were still traveling on parallel roads--going the same direction but never intersecting.]

I thought there was a purpose in following the will of the gods, but I was fooled. It seems more and more clear now that there are not any real gods like the ones I grew up believing in.

It's interesting that you say I'm not a goddess of fate. I despise fate. I have defied it. And yet that is exactly what they want me to call myself here: Shai, god of fate.
nibelungvalesti: (sadness)

[personal profile] nibelungvalesti 2017-02-28 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lenneth shakes her head, a slight motion that sets her long braid to swinging by her ankles.]

Fate cannot be defied, nor denied. If someone tells you your fate and you 'defy' it, then they were not speaking of 'fate'. They were speaking of plans, of an effort to manipulate you and make you have no choice. True fate is woven through all things.
