Even if Jakob isn't thinking of it, Add certainly is. Someone to fixate on...? Is that the reason why he's still trying to serve him? Add steals a quick glance at his shinki, hesitating.

"... Living for someone else won't make you happy. You're more likely to just run into the same problems," he says carefully, staring very pointedly at the confused man on the sidewalk instead of his shinki. "Humans are naturally selfish beings. You'll only get taken advantage of or hurt if you put too much trust in them. You should live for yourself, and only yourself."

Even if Add can't follow that rule himself. He used to live to bring his mother back, and now he's living to find Roxas again... but in the end, he's still being selfish. It wouldn't matter if they wanted to see him again or not, as long as he could still see them. He's only looking out for himself.

"And... if you do want to live for someone else," he ventures, still trying very hard not to look at the real person he's talking to, "it should be someone of your own choosing, not because of a blood relation or... some other assignment. And if that person isn't good for you, you can always change your mind. You don't have to stay loyal to someone who doesn't suit you."

Like a selfish god who would try to hurt his own shinki. Someone like that... doesn't deserve anyone's loyalty.
