[Open and Closed]
Who: Ayumu Yamazaki, Satoshi, and you!
What: Getting to know the neighbors + attempting to sell Vesta's stuff + Prayer #2
When: March 20 - 23, various times of day
Where: Takamagahara and the Near Shore
Warnings: None currently!
March 20st - Takamagahara, afternoon (Open)
[Outwardly, Ayumu seems perfectly calm as she strolls through Takamagahara. She's clad in a blue haori today, having decided that it'd be better to avoid garments that could restrict her movement outside her temple. She's largely kept to herself since her arrival, far more preoccupied with getting her new home in order and adjusting to living with a child under her roof. It's a big change and grave responsibility, one she takes quite seriously, but it's a daunting task, too. The last youth Ayumu had regular dealings with was Tetsu and he was a good five years older than Satoshi.
Adapting to such a quiet home and cooking and cleaning for two instead of a whole fighting force of rowdy men is difficult, too. She keeps making too much food and there are always leftovers and while that cuts back on the amount of meals she has to prepare, it also cuts down on the amount of time she spends doing her hobby.
Today, Ayumu's chosen to venture outside her temple for the first time since her return following the chocolate affair. She's currently going around to different temples with small plates of daifuku mochi - strawberry-filled pastries traditionally associated with spring. It'd be in her best interests to get to know her neighbors, she thinks, and get to know the layout of the area better.
Feel free to answer her polite knock on the door or intercept her in transit.]
March 21st and 22nd - The Near Shore, various shopping districts, all day (Open)
[ So far, Vesta's pantry seems very well-stocked but it's not going to last forever. With a child in her care, it's imperative that Ayumu take initiative and ward off potential financial problems well in advance.
One positive thing to come of the break in was the understanding that Vesta's temple had valuables that could be sold if Ayumu could find a buyer. But before that, she needs to find somewhere to appraise the items. And that's how she's come to find herself walking down a street of local businesses, carrying a priceless Roman urn in her arms, while she looks for a merchant or secondhand shop.
The Near Shore residents don't seem to be paying her any mind but an old-fashioned Japanese woman carrying an object that looks like it belongs in a museum might catch the eye of any Far Shore residents in the area.]
March 23rd - Near Shore, city hospital somewhere in Shikoku, morning (Closed to Satoshi; Prayer #2)
[The size and style of the hospital building are a little intimidating to Ayumu as they approach the front lobby. She may not know much about the modern world just yet but she does understand the importance of family. Having lost her own due to a strange circumstance very recently, the woman's worries about her mother's health and her ability to take care of her moved her to act on her behalf. She isn't sure what support or comfort she can give but there is solace in working, even if it's different from the type of work she's used to. It's still a job and Ayumu makes it a point to complete those to the best of her ability.
She turns to Satoshi, smiling down at him with a confidence she doesn't quite feel in this situation. The woman's concerns about being unable to support her mother through such a trying time certainly resonated with Ayumu's own doubts as to whether she's fit to take care of a child.]
Are you ready, Satoshi-kun?
[Ayumu's about to ask him if he knows his way around these types of buildings when she remembers that she'd know better than he would. ]
The lady we're looking should be with her mother right now...
[Hopefully, they won't get too lost on the way to her.]

[Ayumu holds out the plate. While it may be bad form for her to call them delicious herself, her culinary creations had been the prize of many hard-fought competitions among the Shinsengumi. And she'd certainly had to stop Harada and Nagakura from devouring more than their fair share more than once. Maybe they'd be to this young man's liking as well.
She watches him expectantly. Hopefully, he'll like them as well. It would be nice to clear them out of her kitchen so she can cook more. The busier she is, the less time she has to dwell on sorrowful things she can't change.]

[He doesn't settle on the biggest but the one that looks the best of the bunch. Maybe food didn't always taste better no matter how attractive it looked but the effort could still be appreciated.
He takes a bite and in this case, the taste certainly measure up. The textures of the mochi and anko with the bright burst of strawberry blend together in perfect balance. And there's something else too. Not quite a memory but a feeling of something wonderful, like trees flowering in the spring and children laughing beneath their heavy branches. It's a taste that leaves him feeling strangely content.
He smiles.] They're amazing, Mrs...? [That's right. He didn't even know the name of the culinary goddess.]

[Ayumu's smile is radiant. The positive responses she's gotten to the mochi have been lovely for cheering her up. Perhaps she should do this again or host a dinner at the temple sometime. It's nice to cook for more than just two and she can cook far more things than just treats.]
Thanks. Ah, I didn't catch your name...?
[Too bad he only took one. She is still kind of drowning in daifuku mochi still.]
no subject
Ah sorry. I'm Horikawa Kunihiro. [It's a strange name, and an old one perhaps, pieces of it plucked from a number of important people and relics of the past. But he speaks of none of those things when he barely understand them himself even at his best.] It's nice to meet you Yumi.
[Instead, he thinks of something more immediate as she holds the plate before him like a further invitation. That's right. He was still running errands and it turns out there's an awful lot to take care of back at his shrine.] Say, Is it alright if I take a few back home? There's three... sometimes four of us living there and I'm sure they'd appreciate it too.
no subject
Nice to meet you, too, Horikawa-san! And of course! Please take as many as you need for everyone. Like I said, there's much more where these came from. It'd be a big help to take them off my hands.
[She considers a moment then nods decisively.]
Though if you give me directions to your temple, I can swing by later with plenty for everyone.
no subject
[He gestures but doesn't offer much more detail than that. The reality is, she probably wouldn't need it. Chaos speaks for herself.]
no subject
['God of chaos', hmm? That's quite surprising. Horikawa seems far too orderly and polite to serve someone like that. Then again, it's not as if any of them were given a say in this arrangement to begin with. If Ayumu had been given a choice in who her protector would be, she would have chosen someone old enough to set foot on a battlefield.
Well, chaos or no chaos, Ayumu made a commitment to this delivery and she intends to keep it.]
I'll bring a couple of platters. That should be enough.
[Then she'll just have a few left to get rid of.]
no subject
But though his god may be a storm force of misfortune, Horikawa remains pleasant. Grateful even.]
More than enough! [He beams.] That's very kind of you Yumi. Once I finish getting the kitchen set up, perhaps I could return the favor.
no subject
[Ayumu certainly has no objections to being cooked for now and again. It's nice to be the one being taken care of instead of the one doing the caretaking sometimes.]
And it's not a problem! I'm just happy they won't go to waste.
no subject
At the question Horikawa smiles brightly, if a bit wistful. He's answered a lot of questions lately, many like this and while there are certainly thoughts and feelings about this or that, it's so early in the game that he's uncomfortable answering with any certainty lest he give the wrong impression.]
I haven't had the chance to try yet but some things seem simple enough.
no subject
I'd be delighted to try some of your cooking sometime, Horikawa-san. And if you'd like any pointers, I'd be glad to give them to you.
[She's already taken on Yamato as a culinary pupil. Why not take on another should he be interested in such a thing?]
no subject
That's awfully kind of you. If I have any trouble I'll surely remember that.
[He inclines his head in a slight bow but as he straights again the light of afternoon sun catches his eye. Has it gotten that late already? He follows up with another bow, this time a proper one.]
Ah... much as I'm enjoying this, I have to excuse myself. I still have some work I'd like to finish before the end of the day. But I hope we can continue this conversation soon?
no subject
[Ayumu's smile turns a bit sheepish. As much as they're enjoying each other's company, he did say he had errands to do, didn't he?]
It was very nice meeting you, Horikawa-san. I'll stop by later.
