Nights, Into Dreams
Who: Everyone at Forrest's Sleepover
What: The 'sleeping' part of the sleepover proves slightly more eventful than planned.
When: The night of June 21
Where: Lakshmi's temple
Warnings: Some violence (implied and explicit) in individual threads; see warnings in headers.
Well, you know what they say about sleeping on the job.
It's well into the small hours by the time Aya - like many of Forrest's guests - slips into sleep, something she had assured herself she could do tomorrow. It's late, her eyelids are heavy, and she's eaten far too many snacks and, happily nauseated, really doesn't want to move. She curls up on a pile of pillows; at some point she pulls a blanket over herself. Her eyes fall closed--
Morpheus sleeps, and it really should have occurred to her what that might mean. It had been a joke, really: of course the God(dess) of Dreams would be right at home at a sleepover. But it's during sleep she is at her most powerful, weaving a tangled and chaotic web from the threads of Forrest's guests' dreams.
*
OOC: Aya is the reincarnation of Morpheus, God of Dreams; her powers include dreamwalking and bringing back small items from her dreams. Tonight, her powers are affecting the guests at Forrest's sleepover, allowing any of them the (entirely optional) chance to take a trip into one another's dreams. As to what they might find there, well, that's where this log comes in. Start a thread about your own character's dreams, or or drop in on other people's and hope they're not having that one dream about showing up to an exam in their underwear.
(If you would like Aya to retrieve a small item from a dream for your character, please let me know! Items have to be obtainable on present-day Earth, inanimate, small enough for her to keep about her or carry and not used as a weapon.)

Pulling on the reins with one hand, Hibiki holds fast to her bundle of maidens with the other. ] Cleave to my bosom.
[ It's time to RIDE A GIANT FLYING SEAHORSE through a THUNDERSTORM dodging DEADLY OBSTACLES! Because that is a perfectly sensible situation in which to find oneself! ]
no subject
Cleave to your what?!?! Oh hell no! Put me back on the ship, I can just swim!
no subject
[ She didn't know Fuwari knew those words. Don't use those words in front of Falulu, she is unsullied and pure and---
Here comes the water again and Hibiki's too busy worrying about the word "hell" to notice. ]
no subject
Which he might have continued with anyway, except the way she's got a hold of him actually gives him a decent vantage point of their surroundings. So he's the one who sees the water rising yet again. ]
Look out! Left! Go left!
[ Is that starboard or port? Does that matter on a seahorse? ]
no subject
Oh, hey, water. Hibiki's head snaps up and her reflexes respond before she's even fully noticed the problem. Left they go!
But they'll get clipped by the edge of that wave, all the same, which sends them tumbling through the air. Hibiki does her best to hold onto both the seahorse and her Princesses.
This will, of course, only work properly if her Princesses do the same. ]
no subject
Yeah, sorry, Yata's not the clingy sort and he's still flailing slightly at being rescued by a girl in the first place. so when the edge of the wave hits, it's in the middle of him floundering to get a hold on the seahorse of his own. Which is, arguably, considerably better to cling to than anyone's bosom.
But that also means that as the wave slams into them, he's the first to lose his grip, getting a mouthful of saltwater as he slips sideways and drops into the water with a strangled yelp a moment later. ]

[ Hibiki brings the seahorse around, the better to watch where "Fuwari" had disappeared. If she could catch sight of the other girl, she could extend her rope to her, but...no. Just the water.
Her teeth clench.
Hibiki yanks off her fancy hat, which had only managed to stay on her head by the power of Theater. She yanks off her fancy cape (ditto). She hands the reins to the other girl. ] Princess Falulu, the mount is yours!
[ "Mahou-chan?"
But Hibiki is already executing a perfect swan dive off the seahorse and into the churning waters. Fuwari - no matter how strangely she's behaving currently - risked her life to save Hibiki's! She promised she'd never leave Hibiki alone!
How could any Prince worth her title fail to jump to the rescue?! ]
no subject
....Then again, any plan he might have made had not accounted for these damn ridiculous ruffles, the dress he wears foreign enough already without it getting wrapped around his legs and dragging him down further, the cloth sodden and heavy and unwieldy underwater. ]
no subject
That hardly makes this easy, though, and she's struggling against the churning water when a glimpse of something waving in it catches her eye. She pivots her head and -
Her teeth clench. A few bubbles escape between them.
Hang on, Fuwari. She's coming! You're not allowed to die here! ]
no subject
He doesn't even realize he's not the only one in the ocean anymore until she appears out of nowhere, reaching for him. He almost yelps before remembering oh right, underwater but a mouthful of bubbles still escapes in a garbled squawk before he claps his mouth shut again.
This girl is crazy. Not that he can't appreciate the help (maybe?) but there's no reason for both of them to be half-drowned. He tries to turn her back towards the surface because he's fine, this is totally fine, he's got it all under control.
Even if he doesn't. ]
no subject
Hibiki, undeterred, makes a grab to try and pull Fuwari closer around the waist. She has every intention of using her legs and her free hand to kick them back to the surface, slow though the going would be. Failure has never even crossed her mind. She's going to save Fuwari.
Even if her lungs are beginning to burn. ]
no subject
Yata flails a bit when Hibiki latches onto his waist and draws him close because oh god, this is so awkward and uncomfortable and it's a lucky thing he's not setting the ocean boiling around them right now. But damn, she's determined and at this rate, fighting over it is just going to cost them more oxygen, so whatever.
He leaves her wrapped around his waist if that's where she's so determined to be. He starts swimming for the surface anyway, focusing enough to try and propel them both upwards with an Aura-fueled kick. ]
no subject
This would be a moment for pride if they weren't both on the verge of death. Even Hibiki knows what to focus on, in such cases.
Almost...there....Just a few more strokes....
She holds Fuwari close. She's got you, Fuwari. Everything's going to be all right. ]
no subject
And then he promptly reaches out and drags the person next to him up by the collar. Which is probably pretty impressive considering what Yata currently looks like. ]
Dammit, are you trying to get yourself killed?
no subject
No, wait. Not just profanity. Violence. Of a sort. Hibiki blinks, mouth dropping open, and it's not just from the water clinging to her (unfairly thick) eyelashes. ] Wh...
[ She'll keep treading water to maintain their position, but "Fuwari"'s behavior has left her stunned. ]
no subject
Oh nevermind. Whatever. Where's your fish-thing? We don't want to stay here.
no subject
We're taking you to a doctor.
[ Putting two fingers between her lips, she whistles - a piercing nose that splits even the roar of the storm. The seahorse appears, summoned by the call, Falulu still on its back. Hibiki shifts her hold on "Fuwari" to extend a hand, shooting a purple rope up from her sleeve to wrap around said seahorse so she can retract it, pulling her and "Fuwari" aboard. (Falulu helps wind the rope up too).
Now Fuwari is being hugged close by Falulu. Such huggy people. ]
no subject
Fine, whatever, let's just get out of here before something worse happens.
[ .... Aaaaaand now there's another girl hugging him. He spoke too soon. He huffs out an exasperated sigh and just resigns himself to it, sitting there on back of a seahorse, sopping wet. ]
no subject
[ Hibiki spurs the seahorse to set off across the sea. It's still raining, though, and the wind is against them. She squints into it. There's technically no way to tell which direction to go, out here, but that's a concern for people who aren't Shikyoin Hibiki. She will, of course, have picked the correct direction.
Of course.
It's getting colder out here. ]
