Summary: So many shrines have popped up! Go visit your homelands!



The Heavens have received reports of many shrines to the "new gods" they are harboring appearing all over the world. These shrines seem to be additional, new shrines to those gods. Older shrines to those gods still exist, but these ones are shiny, new, and way more compatible with the "new gods". God characters, as well, will have felt the sudden pull towards their homelands and be compelled to travel to them. But the Heavens have taken it a step farther, offering the Meeting Hall as a place for gods and shinki to group up and go out for the day to the various places that are now calling out to them.

Please ignore the fact that they are mostly doing this so that you all will collect information for them without their begging for it or having to reward you.



Meeting Hall

The Meeting Hall is being used as a sort of hub right now. Any groups that are planning to meet up and travel together can meet here, but you might also find someone who's going somewhere you'd like to and tag along with them. Additionally, the Heavens have provided packed lunches for everyone to take with them, should they desire to. This also serves as a meeting place for all of the new gods and shinki.

Locals

Local pantheons have been alerted to the impending visitors. They are happy to welcome their brethren home and are likely to make a big fuss about their brothers and sisters staying with them. Local gods are welcome to be interpreted however you would like, just be sure not to NPC any god that is already taken by a god player. Also, you may find yourself running into some local spirits during your sight-seeing - including local ayakashi and various folklore spirits.

Flyers

They may not stick out at first, but those who are paying attention will notice that there are a large number of flyers being left around at their new shrines. Heck, even walking through the human towns, you will find flyers scattered on the ground and pinned to cork boards and nailed to telephone poles. All bear the same message: "Down with the Heavens. Down with Amaterasu." The locals gods are well versed in the flyers, saying that there have been some strange characters around throwing these flyers at anyone who will give them the time of day. Even humans will note that some shady-looking people have been putting up these strange posters.

Destruction

Whether you return early because of boredom, never left because you're uninterested, or late because you've been having fun, the middle of the night will bring an interesting sight to all. The Heavens will find themselves under attack - in the form of a large fire set at the temple of Amaterasu herself. The entire home is going up in flames and no one knows where Amaterasu is. They're asking for help in dousing the fire or even entering the burning home to find the small goddess and possibly look for the saboteurs, though the only people who are still around are Amaterasu's shinki, in varying states of distress and consciousness.

Note: Who will discover Amaterasu will be decided randomly on 3/20/17 OOC. At that point, a follow-up post will be made by Amaterasu herself.

[He swore one of the local gods was trying to give him an axe but it seemed to be the last thing on his mind. Weird. But books and alcohol? Sold.]

I would hope so. This is....quite a lot of stuff and most of it I did not expect.

[No raven but there was a hunting hawk tucked away in his. As he peers over Leo's map, hey wait-]

Is there that many stores dedicated to drink here?

[Look at his eyes, they are huge because holy shit these Norse must love their liquor.]

No, the map marks bookshops as well, and I think they may have included a few inns or pubs that simply have good drinks. Still, a very useful map and kind of them to mark places of interest for us.

[He smirks a little, glancing around]

[If nothing else, sight-seeing without the kidlets!]

[One never knows. But Aymeric can't help but smile softly at the thought. It is nice to be around someone who is older than eighteen, as much as he cares for Sora and Goten; sometimes there were things he could be able to speak freely on without the worry of judgement.]

[Leo glances around and, seeing that everyone seems to be doing alright on their own, folds the map up and makes for the door. Sora's technically an adult, they'll be fine.]

Let's go, before someone stops us.

[...where did that come from? Ok, he knows for a fact that while he may jest about Sora, he knows that he will fine. Probably. But hey, its not often they manage to take a break away from tge Far Shore.]

Where to first?

That depends on what we want, I suppose, unless we just want to pick a destination and see where we end.

That would make things much more interesting.

[And he's not ready for liquor yet. Might as well look at what this place has to offer. Except for the random hawk peeking at them.]

Having a plan is well indeed but I sense there is a bit more fun to find out along the way, like an adventure.

[He hasn't had an adventure in years, and certainly not one so safe.]

[It's nice to not act regal and leader-like at times. Going north then! Wonder where they end up going in this direction...]

A bookshop next to a pub. Leo has to laugh at the perfection of it and goes to look over the books in the window]

Look, it's like they knew which way we'd go first.

[Well that is convenient. Or do the old gods know them through the originals? Best not to think on it because brain may hurt.]

Quite curious. I would not mind taking a look through these tomes.

[And might come back with a lot more than he arrived.]

Agreed, even if I have to come back later to actually purchase them. Shall we?

It would be nice to have some decent tomes rather than use the light box.

[Seriously, what the hell is wrong with a book? He likes those. Sure his office has some but he's more referring to enjoyment, not on law. And that Cat in the Hat book he found but vanished doesn't count.]

[Leo heads in and goes right for the "mythology" section since, well, where better to get information on who he's replacing than the source?]

That looks a bit like our phones, only larger?

Tis one of them. I do not understand why it is needed to read a book, is it not natural to feel a page between one's fingers?

[Also he does have a smartphone but there's one problem: he doesn't know how to use it. Leo also has the bright idea of going into the mythology section and Aymeric follows. Picking one of the books from the shelf, it seems to be the basics of the lore around the area. But a few minutes go by and...he stops.

It's interesting but also worrying to the elezen if the lack of color in his cheeks meant anything.]

I suppose if you're going to be near water it'd be helpful but only so long as you don't--Aymeric?

[He notices the sudden stillness and turns around.]

[Oh, it can be easy to say 'Nothing!' but that would be kind of disrespectful because he always was pretty upfront with Leo. But this...is something very unexpected.]

This tome...it speaks of names that I am familiar with back in mine own realm of Eorzea.

[Leo looks around Aymeric's arm to get a look at the book]

I assume these are not good names.

Some...are not.

[As proof, he shows him the pages. There's a drawing of a large tree with a dragon in the roots, gnawing away. And a name while written in the native tongue of this land, Aymeric knew it by another.]

This is one of them: Nidhogg was a great dragon who waged war with my people for a thousand years due to his thirst for vengeance.

[Leo glances at the image, frowning]

Was? He's been defeated, I take it?

Just as I arrived here. But tis strange to see those who were enemies appear in another realm as stories. Several other names I do see here also hail from my realm as well.

[But why is Fluff Dragon a giant and Migardsormr the one who destroys the world while fighting Thor? Sure the Dragonsong War ended but sheesh, it's unnerving.]

My tome, Brynhildr, and my brother's sword, Siegfried, are apparently heroes in some traditions here. While it's hardly the same, it's still incredibly...uncomfortable. Are the other names also of enemies?

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR HEAVENSWARD HERE ON OUT

Ones that we thought of as them but learned that they too were also victims in some way. Such as the serpent who was supposed to battle Thor here; he is known as Midgardsormr, Father of Dragons. And while he remains an ally to us and the Warrior of Light, his children did have their sides.

And the creature running through the branches here named Ratatoskr...she being Nidhogg's broodsister and catalyst of the Dragonsong War but not from her own doing but the actions of my ancestors.
