Hello! My name is Elder Sha (open log)
Who: Gojyo and whoever he runs into!
What: Snooping around the Far Shore to try and learn more about why they're all here
When: The days following the temple fire (March 27-31ish)
Where: All over the Far Shore and select spots on the Near Shore
Warnings: will update
Gods and shinki both are disappearing, the priest had said. And nobody knows why. As if being told that he was a) dead, and b) a shape-shifting monster hunter wasn't bad enough (although, to be honest, he was really on board with the monster hunter thing. How cool was that?) Without any memories to draw on -- without even really knowing what he knew and didn't know -- he didn't see a lot of options available to him.
(open to anyone:)
1. He could go talk to Amaterasu. She was the head god around here, as far as he'd been able to determine, and given that somebody had just set her house on fire with her in it while papering the neighborhood with DOWN WITH AMATERASU flyers, he was going to go out on a limb and guess that she knew something about the whole mess he'd found himself in the middle of.
Now if he could just find her.
(Open to anyone:)
2. He could -- and he really loved this word -- crowdsource. Whoever was responsible had to be watching the network -- they'd be a fool if they weren't -- so in-person conversations was the best bet. And yeah, okay, he felt a little stupid at the idea of walking up to one random temple after another and asking the gods and shinki there what they knew about the disappearances, but he also turned into a goddamn staple remover, and there was nothing stupider than that.
(Locked to Yuri and/or Neji and/or Hakkai:)
3. He could feel out the resistance. Sharak Sanzo had all but dumped an invitation into his lap, and she'd made it pretty clear that the swamp elf was a part of it, too. Confronting the guy seemed like a potentially dangerous way to spend an afternoon, but he was already dead, right? What harm could it do? And eventually, if he asked around, somebody would have to know where the creepy smiling guy covered in plant tattoos lived.
(Locked to Sharak:)
4. He could blow the whole goddamn plan off, and go find someplace to get a drink.
(ooc: If none of these prompts work for you, feel free to wildcard and make your own!)

[ Give her a moment to nod at the lion. ]
It'll be alright, Kuraha. Please go back to the others. I'm sure Tsuguha needs your assistance more than I do right now.
[ And said lion just eyes Gojyo a moment before lowering his head at his master and padding off, effectively leaving the two of them alone. With that, her attention's on the shinki again.]
Now. What can I do for you?
no subject
Or maybe he's just thinking too much about it. ]
I'm hoping you can answer some questions. [ He folds his arms and leans in slightly. It's not that he thinks any of her shinki -- that's who they are, right? -- are going to be listening in, but this isn't really the kind of conversation to be had at volume. ] About who might have tried to hurt Amaterasu.
no subject
[ She nods her shinki off before motioning for Gojyo to follow her. At least they won't be out in the open in case he's worrying about prying ears. ]
But right away, I can tell you we have little to no leads... but I'll tell you what I know. This isn't the first time an incident like this has happened.
no subject
That's what I've heard. She's a kid right now because somebody killed her, right? [ Everyone seems to know that much, but nobody he's talked to knows anything more. ] How'd it happen?
no subject
But she waits until they've reached one of the sitting rooms before speaking. ]
Things are different between us and you. If I was to die, I would be reborn in the body of a child with no memories of my life prior. That's what I suspect happened to Amaterasu.
If it's the truth, I can't say for certain. Not even Amaterasu herself would know who was responsible for her death. If anyone knew, they haven't come forward.
[ Frustrating, yes... but she's just as frustrated. ]
no subject
And speaking of shinki... ]
She's always got that horde of shinki around her though, doesn't she? The folks in the white and gold, they're hers, right? [ It's a huge number of shinki for one god to manage, but it only makes sense that the head boss lady would have an army of assistants. ] I can't believe that nobody saw anything.
[ There's clear suspicion in his tone. How could she have so many shinki and yet somebody got close enough to kill her in a way that nobody saw anything? ]
no subject
There's a nod at his questions though. ]
She's assured me that the matter is being looked into. For now, I can understand if any of her shinki think it too soon to speak about the fire.
[ A beat. ]
Do you think it was one of them?
no subject
I don't know. Maybe? [ He spins slowly on his heel, taking in the whole -- empty -- room, then turns back to her. ] Clearly gods with a lot of shinki still go off on their own with strangers, right?
[ Ha ha, the idea he could ever be a threat to her. Ha. ]
Whoever it was, they had to be somebody she trusted. [ Which, given how friendly the kid version of Amaterasu seems to be, doesn't really narrow the field down any. ] Someone with opportunity, and motive.
no subject
[ There's a furrow to her brow as she looks at her hands. ]
It could be possible but I can't say for certain. Do you know about her brother, Tsukiyomi?
no subject
I didn't know she had a brother. [ He didn't know gods had families at all, really. Does that mean they're born like mortals are? They seem to be human in a lot of other ways so it's not the more outrageous thing he's heard... ] Does he live around here?
no subject
[ Another frown, fingertips pressing together faintly ]
A newcomer had... replaced him.... for a while but they've already gone.
no subject
Even her own brother vanished? [ And was 'replaced'... by somebody like him? Somebody brought from their own world and told here, congrats, you're dead and something like a god oh an also a staple remover? ] I thought when gods vanished it was forever.
no subject
Gods never really vanish. Only of they happened to be a god without a single follower to remember them. Someone as influential as Tsukiyomi, I can imagine won't disappear entirely.
[ Not even if he was replaced. ]
I haven't had reason to check but I could find out what happened to him between that newcomer replacing him and their departure.
no subject
But then he's not the same person, right? I mean... [ This will be easier if he uses visual aides. Right hand index finger = Tsukiyomi. ] Amaterasu's brother... Tsukiyomi? Was here and then vanished.
[ Right hand finger goes down, and left hand index finger = his replacement goes up. ] Then somebody new showed up and got assigned to be Tsukiyomi for awhile. [ Then the left hand finger goes down too, and he's left with two raised fists but no "people". ]
So is there a third person doing that job now? [ Right- hand finger goes up again. ] Or is her brother back?
