I don't know how you feel about pets, but this is going to be a pain in the ass. [But she thinks everything's a pain, so really, what else is new?]

[It's not she pulls her weight as a god (like...ever), so eh. Taking out those ayakashi probably counts as a good deed even if the prayer didn't, but it's not like she went out of her way. And as for there being worse gods to work for, that's...probably true, considering Sora had told her about that one that was doing something to other gods' shinki, so she'll give him that.]

Bad mood? Uh, sort of. [She just doesn't want to admit it. Same principle behind why she doesn't want to tell him that she can sort of tell where he is if she concentrates—it's kinda weird.] Heh, you got me. You're pretty sharp if you can tell I don't want to get blighted by you.

[That there in her voice is a trace of smugness. She doesn't actually care about blight that much, but she doesn't want to invite it, either.]

But I don't want you feeling beholden to me, either, so don't start. [She gives him grief occasionally for nonsensical things, sure, but while she doesn't prepare for any pushing back (it's not like she does it to rile him up), it's not like it's new or upsetting to her, either.]

I think you lucked out, everyone is so on edge about blighting their god but avoiding it comes easy to me.

[Everyone else feels guilty about minor crimes for instance.]

So I can continue to slack off as a shinki, right?

[He's her exemplar but he's not really all that exemplary. More impulsive.]

[Heh.] That's pretty bold, to just admit it like that.

[She dips a hand into the water again and splashes some on the rest of her arm.]

I'm not going to play along if I don't have to. [Which is of course a slightly dangerous tack to take, but it's not like she's saying it to any random person, here.]

[And since people (anonymous people, sure, but she has no reason not to believe them so far) had pretty much told her that different people than the old gods were responsible for bringing them here, she might as well do a little of the godhood stuff. S'not like she minded doing the prayer just now, and anyway, without any real information, she doesn't have anything better to do.]

I wouldn't know what to do with someone who'd blight me easily, so yeah, I'm counting myself lucky. [Considering her response to a bunch of without-hope people was just to yell at them. (Spoilers, it didn't work, who would've thought)] Heh.

Instead he has her. He's not sure what to make of her but he feels he can get along with her style.]

I guess if they give you a hard time for not playing along you at least got one person who'll back you up. I might not be able to kick fire but I'm not one to back down easy.

[Because yeah, she knows all about regretting something like that. If it's any consolation, she'd never become like Katsumi if she could help it. She doesn't go in for this betrayal stuff.]

[Not purposefully, anyway. Her grin fades as remembers Mina and the rest of the Quarks. They'd almost gotten out, and then...just started collapsing.] S'long as you can promise not to die on me.

I already died once, so it's not like I'm looking forward to doing it again.

[Because damned if he knows how resilient he is in this afterlife. He just knows he isn't really keen on testing those limits necessarily.

If he does, well, things might go well for him.]

I'll leave the really dangerous stuff to you anyways.

[She scoffs.] Oi, that's too slacking.

[But eh, whatever. She hadn't intended to keep him out of fighting the last ayakashi by hanging onto his vessel form, but it'd just kind of...happened. Not a good standard to set, but it's not like she really noticed she was doing it.]

Maybe we could find a less dangerous one next time. Or practice, or whatever. [She isn't used to having to work in tandem like that to defeat things, either. And it's not like she wants to get hurt unnecessarily, even if she does have that serum (...and the holy water) that'll fix it right up.]

Maybe coordinate the borderlines better with how you fight. I hear I should be able to make them only block ayakashi and not other stuff if I really train at it.

[Which means he could pin them down and she could deal out the damage easier. He might be able to handle his own in a street brawl but monsters are weird. Also, being able to shoot them through his borderline will make his life so much easier.]
